Orchard Hotel

Location, convenience, comfort

No room service/restaurant after 10 PM; room next to elevator shaft.

The staff were very down to earth and extremely friendly

not design at all, very international standard type of look ------ be careful, this hotel is not the Orchard Garden (same owner, same street, but not the same place)

Rooms were large, clean and tastefully decorated, but what really sets this place apart is the staff. I have stayed at allot of hotels in the city and for the price this place is a no brainer. Actually much better than any of the higher priced places I have stayed at in San Francisco. Didn't get a chance to eat at the restaurant, but the appetizer and drinks we had at the bar were great and were half off because it was happy hour. I can't remember the last time that happened at a hotel in SF.

The location is great, the decor very attractive, the staff friendly, and the rooms spacious for a big city. This was my second stay here and I liked it as much as the first time.

Two improvements would make this near perfect for the money. Most important, hooks are needed in the bathroom for clothes or robes. Second, a different coffee maker: the one cup at a time is laborious and makes it difficult to have coffee with your partner.

Friendly, helpful staff that did everything to help make our stay enjoyable.

Breakfast was not included but that was not an issue.

Great location near cable car transportation - easy access to major sites in San Francisco. Very helpful staff - advise on restaurants, directions.

It was nice and and located near Union Square where you could shop, eat and use public transportation.

The hotel was in a great location. I was a little worried because I knew it was close to downtown but it was within walking distance of Chinatown, North Beach, Fisherman's Wharf, and lots of shopping (if that's what you're into). And, like others have said, the cable cars stop practically right in front of the hotel. We think we got a free upgrade because we asked for a king size bed and ended up with a suite on the top floor. I wasn't a fan of the decorating style (oriental) but the suite was very, very nice. The concierge was great, too. We didn't even have to ask for help and they were right there anticipating our needs.

The parking fee is pretty steep - $40 + tax for 24 hours. I wished I had researched other options but I didn't even think about parking until I was checking in so I went with the easiest option.

Large comfortable room.

Some porblem with the free internet service it is not really high-speed and they will bump you off if you transfer largem files or watch sites involving streaming, etc.

Clean hotel

I stayed for 2 weeks. The hotel was nice, bed soft & bathroom clean, location was great & public transportation nearby. A last minute requested extra bed was brought immediately. The little soaps were delish. Free DVD lend out & wifi.

There were some troubles with my reservation because of internal miscommunication twice, which was annoying, but eventually solved. Keycards sometimes didn't work. Housekeeping called up a lot asking when they could make the room if we didn't leave 'in time'. The staff was always helpfull, but not always smiley friendly.
