Fantastic location. (As long as you are prepared and able to walk up and down steep hills!) ..only a few minutes walk up from Union Square. Comfortable, smart and clean room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again.
One of the staff persons did not have the language skills nor the attitude to be at the front desk
The location, most staff was verily friendly, the room itself is spacious
No coffee making facilities
Very, very helpful staff, great location, tours booked promptly and effectively and local knowledge re eating was perfect.
Be prepared with comfortable shoes to walk enormous hills and get up early to access trolley as it is full the majority of the day.
Comfortable and cozy room with big bathroom. Beautiful bar area with complimentary appetizers in the evening. Helpful bell staff. Great bars and restaurants nearby. Trolley stop within steps of the front of the hotel. Plenty taxis available also.
No free weights in the fitness center.
Enjoyed my stay and your knowledgeable staff!
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Great location. The room really comfortable and clean. The staff really nice and helpful, especially the concierge who did everything he could to help us.
Central location, bed one of the most comfortable at a hotel I've stayed at, and the staff is super-friendly and helpful.
Restroom's floor was too slippery that I felt down to ground 3 times, and the last time I got faint with a large area of bruise! The last day I stayed here was full of fire alarm noise!
Location is good, staff is nice.
Very poor (slow) wifi and this is the only hotel I have ever stayed at that did not have a coffee maker in the room.
Location was excellent and every staff member looked out for our every need.
From check-in to departure, the staff was wonderful. Our room was upgraded without even asking and when we came and left we were greeted with a smile and a "hello".
Bed was very comfortable and wifi was strong:)
We loved the quiet, serene, feel of this hotel. Other patrons were quiet and yet, right out the door we could walk to Union Square, Chinatown, even walked to North Beach.
No coffee maker/water boiler in the room. Valet can be a bit slow in bringing the car.
From the moment we arrived, the staff at the Orchard hotel made us feel genuinely and personally welcome and individual. I have NEVER experienced such genuinely warm, attentive service at a hotel! The facility was spotless and the bed insanely comfortable--and the Wifi was FAST. We especially like the calm Art Deco decor; so many San Francisco hotels decorate to remind a visitor of the city's more raucous Victorian past, which can be fun for a day or two but on a week long visit feels overdone to me. Gym facilities are important to me. While the Orchard does not have a gym of its own, it does give discount passes ($15/day) to an actual gym a few blocks away. For someone who wants a serious workout, this is much better than the typical hotel fitness room, which is often not quite up to my workouts at home. Here I had all the proper equipment, space, etc. Many top restaurants are only a few minutes walk away.
No option for a flatter, less dense pillow. Water is shower could have been hotter.
Great location, really nice hotel, friendly staff.
There is an option on booking (which I ticked) that says 'upper floors if available'. However, I was put on the lowest floor possible with view of the backalley (or better a view of the walls of the building opposite). Together with relatively low ceilings and the many floors above this did feel claustrophobic and oppressive although the room itself was decently sized. I stayed in low season and there appeared to be still a host of rooms available so alongside with the fact that no-one said anything at check in (I would have expected at least a "sorry unfortunately we are all but full so we can not give you the room requested") it felt as if the option was simply ignored, possibly because what I had booked with a discount through booking.com. no coffee/teamaking facilities in room. I guess had I sayed on a higher floors the overall score would be higher, but the claustrophobic feeling results in relatively low ratings for both comfort and value for money. Room was fine for a night (and just to sleep in) though, and if you don't bother about feeling like being in the belly of a whale you will be perfectly OK also to stay longer.
comfortable bed, clean, decent size room, large bathroom, friendly and helpful staff. quiet (except when the bar/restaurant besides trashes the bottles in the backalley at the end of the night, but that doesnt last long so isn't an issue). central location (if you like staying around union square), feels perfectly safe.
No coffee machine in the room.Hair conditioner container was empty and only discovered when my hair was washed.Alot of street noise as we were on the second floor
The room was large and quite comfortable.Location was good.
Not really set up for catering, and as you are in the middle of town there are loads of much better choices - so venture out for breakfast.
Great location, very friendly staff.
I didn't have a bad experience at all but I would say the Baldwin is very basic and the decor is a few decades old! The wi fi was pretty weak as well. For the money and location it was a good deal though.
I thought the hotel was in a great location and the staff were very friendly. The hotel was also very clean
Everything ok. Great location.
We didn't have drinking water in our room. Not even a coffee maker.
Good location, if you are looking for somewhere near union square for shopping, or going to pier 39, China town is walking distance away.
Chinese New Year parade blocked us from getting there. (Not the hotel's fault)
The room had a cd player and a cd with wonderful relaxation music. Also, the bed was totally comfortable and luxurious.
Small details, but it wasn't important!! The room didn't have nice view-:(
The hotel is quite and the location is great!
