Score from 872 reviews Very good
The employees were personable and friendly. The hotel has a very unique feel.
Very good bed, and large shower area in bathroom. Fast internet.
Music in lobby 2 niches too loud. Poor breakfast, with unhelpful staff who did not replenish food once it had gone, so be early if you want a banana. Very little around the hotel in terms of supermarkets or restaurants.
Close to Metro, friendly staff, fair price for NY, has toiletries and breakfast.
Rooms are not soundproof. You can hear every single step in the hallway.
Wonderful place to stay in NY. Hotel design is great, rooms are large, shower is separate from wc (perhaps not in all rooms). Staff is helpful and kind. Close to subway. Few restaurants and very nice wine shop is nearby.
Loved the way the decor was, since it was an old paper factory prior to being a hotel. It had an industrial flare with old eclectic decor and we loved that it wasn't your traditional Holiday Inn type. The staff was always friendly and helpful and the hotel was very clean and smelled amazing. The room was a 2-double bed with flat screen and dresser. Was on the smaller side and had a shower, sink and toilet. The maid service was always on point and clean, they always changed our towles and gave fresh soap etc. It was a 2 min walk to the Subway and from the Subway a 5 min walk. No complaints there.
When we checked in our sink wasn't draining and we called to have them fix the issue. I reminded them the following morning but when we returned later in the night, it still had not been addressed. I advised them again and the following day it was finally draining properly. The beds could have been a little more comfy, but it's a hotel not your personal home.
Near subway stop that is two stops from midtown Manhattan. Safe area and safe subway. Clean, fun hotel. Great view of Queens from 5th floor. Good breakfast with beautiful, funky lobby areas. Helpful and friendly staff.
Parking was tough. Get good directions for parking before you leave home. Drop bags at hotel and then park, so you can walk back easily. Safe, fascinating area for a two block stroll.
Space. Cleanliness. Fresh fruits for breakfast. Nearness to subway station.
Noise pollution. You can hear so much noise from the corridors and hallways. Use of plastic plates and utensils for breakfast. Definitely not good for the environment. Poor quality, unhealthy breakfast options (e.g. processed jam), except for the fresh fruits.
The location was ideal for us as we had a family wedding nearby. It was also really near the train to access Manhattan and easy access to main airports
cold floors/ no carpet in bedrooms. Probably alright in summer but this was November!
The hotel has a modern funky vibe. The breakfast service was very much appreciated.
Found the room to be cold. Windows draughty.
Convenient to subway stop. Free continental breakfast. Front desk staff were very helpful and awesome!
No parking garage. Rooms were smaller than we thought. There were some marks on walls. Noisy and echoes in hallway when people were out there.
We liked the continental breakfast. It offered a variety of selections that were very fresh and tasty. The hotel was very clean with so many unique pieces of art to enjoy and investigate. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
The price was a little high end. They did not offer decaf coffee. They missed our wake up call the last day we were there.
very friendly and helpful staff. Fun atmosphere.Free breakfast a surprise. Very close to subway. Took us a while to find the good restaurants and bars nearby .
Breakfast Ambiance Location
It was cold everywhere (room, hallways) it is obvious that the heating system can't support such a vast space if you don't mind staying in a place with 60-65 F it is a nice place
Rest room decoration is a bit old
The breakfast and the location
Gorgeous decor, amenities and cleanliness. Comfort of bed.
Although our room had city views, it was extremely noisy due to the wind draft and thus disrupted our sleep.
All staff were welcoming and helpful. Location great.
Very friendly staff. Good location (just next to the 36th street stop on the M, R line) which is a couple of stops away from Midtown Manhattan. Complimentary breakfast (pastries, bagels, fruit, regular coffee, juice). Fancy coffees for sale in the lobby. Complimentary water in the room. The hotel is nicely decorated and the rooms have a 'home-like' feeling. Plenty of space in the room. Good shower with hot water and good water pressure. Nice products in the bathroom.
There are no vending machines in the hotel in case one gets thirsty in the evening but the restaurant is opening Dec 2014. The room got cold in the evenings due to the nature of the building (former warehouse so little insulation). Only a drawer and no 'real closet' in the room but this was not a problem for us.
The uniqueness. It is a fun place to stay.
Beds could be more comfortable. They are clean. Low to the ground. Matress a little hard.
Ambiente and the very friendly staff. The loft type of hotel, that is different from a traditional hotel. Very close subway station - 36th street with direct link w/o changing the subway, to 5th street and time square.
Heating is centrally controlled and can´t be individual changed. In the morning there is not enough places to sit for breakfast. You have to stand or wait quite a while.
beautiful rooms modern edgy so clean
Friendly and helpful staff, nice and clean facilities. Hotel in Queens (not really NYC) but subway station located about 50mts from the hotel that leaves you in Manhattan in 15minutes. Lovely "out of the box" hotel déco:). Delicious and copious breakfast.
Not really related with the hotel but take a good look on how the subway works, especially late nights when some of the track lines change. The MTA site has a useful trip planner which is of very good use so..use it:). Hotel related, everything was really cool:)
Brandnew, unusual and stylish. Nice outdoor patio area as well as rather large rooms considering the proximity to Manhattan. Subway that takes you to Manhattan is just around the corner.
Check-In took quite long and person in charge was chatting away with a co-worker while I was waiting for my room keys. Area feels a little unsafe at night time.
The staff was friendly and responsive to questions and requests. The Hotel was clean, reasonably priced and did provide a small continental breakfast.
Beds were a bit stiff and Noises from the Hallway were very easily heard from inside the room making the overnight a bit distracting.
Location, vibe, staff.
It is a little sparse in the rooms and the lack of carpet made it noisy. I suspect they will be hanging art etc. Also at times the music in the lobby was too loud, background in fine, but adjust the level to the crowd
