Great staff. Hotel has a modern, artsy feel to it. Chilled lounge areas both inside and outside the hotel. Free cold water at the reception desk. Subway station located at the corner. Close proximity to city.
What is there not to like about the Paper Factory?
This is a great place to stay out of the manic ness of New York. The subway gets you to manhatten in under 20 mins and great distance to both airports. The rooms are much bigger than the average hotel, great ensuite bathrooms. The staff on the desk were really friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again. Great place
We were woken at 3am by people coming in from the clubs and bars. Not that this was any of the fault of the hotel's !! Just noisy drunks :)
Decor, ambience, location
No amenities, no parking, staff was too cool for me.
Clean chic place with nice showers and comfortable bed and room
Cable limited. No premium channels or rental options
Terrific renovation of an old paper factory into a postmodern hotel space
Train service lacking at night due to MTA work
Fantastic building, with a lot of attention to detail in the conversion to a hotel, lots of fun stuff around the place. Large, clean rooms & nice staff. Seconds away from a subway stop to get you into Manhattan in a few minutes. Great value for money
Finding a parking spot in the street could be a little tricky, if you had a car. There's no breakfast and not much in the surrounding area.
a lot of space, shower was good, access to subway
acoustics are poor: a lot of noise from neighboring rooms. breakfast was not good
Outdoor courtyard was a big plus. Nice indoor spaces as well, loved the industrial architecture. Rugless rooms made for cleaner, healthier feeling. Subway to NYC was 1/2 block away & just a few stops to/from midtown. Parking just a few blocks away and much less than Manhattan.
We would have liked a comfy chair in our double room so you wouldn't have to read in bed. No biggie.
The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel was just great all the way around. A hotel I will frequently visit no question.
Everything was good
Size of room compared to photos online. Room was not ready. Room was not cleaned until after 4:00 PM. The bed broke during the night. Asked front desk for a bucket of ice, it was never delivered. Could not open blinds without someone on the street seeing into the room.
Without getting into too much detail about what went wrong, I want to express all of what went right. I want to say how much I enjoyed my stay at the Paper Factory Hotel. This is a trip I wont soon forget. I went to New York for the very first time on vacation and also to celebrate my birthday. It was myself and my son. This hotel was very accommodating. The staff, is a staff that will leave a impression on you that will keep you coming back. They were very friendly, nice and their smiles were EVERYTHING!!! I wasn't too thrilled with a couple of incidents upon my arrival that happened and I was ready to run for the hills. But the staff at this hotel turned that all around in a matter of a couple days of my 5 day, 4 night stay. I initially chose this hotel based on the great reviews that I read. This hotel is a nice hotel with a beautiful scent throughout it. The beds are very comfortable to rest peacefully in and have a sound night without disturbance. The wifi signal was excellent here as well. Getting to the subway train station is a breeze and is literally around the corner. The LGA airport is just about 11 minutes or less away which also made it so simple to get in and out. There are a lot of little places to find things to do. The CAFE selection for breakfast is just enough to help you get your day started. The hotel details itself makes you feel like you are walking through a museum that is all captured throughout time. If you are artsy, you will appreciate the details as I did. My son enjoyed his stay too and was happy once we were finally settled in. In the mornings he did not want to leave the bed or wake up, if that's any insight on comfort. All in all I will be back and this will likely be the ONLY hotel I stay in when I return. The staff I am sure will always remember me as I will remember them. A super special thank you to Alex, Yaron and Cindy who made me feel like I was a close family member or friend.
There isn't too much I didn't like. However bedside floor mats would be a nice add, a towel rack and shower bar too to hold on to for the side.
great staff, funky and fun place to saty
still didnt have the bar open but will do by my next visit in August
design staff service location
Nice rooms. They are spacious and clean. Location was close to a subway
The first night I arrived, none of my bed pillows had covers. They were in a pile at the foot of my bed. I made coffee for myself the next morning and when I came back to my room the following evening, NONE of the coffee had been replenished. The used pod was still in the coffee maker, no new packets of creamer/sugar were put out, but hey- at least my pillows now had covers. That morning on my way down I asked the front desk to tell the cleaning lady to refill the coffee. Came back that nigh- the cleaning lady did at least leave coffee- but that was IT. she left 4 packets of coffee but again, no cups, no creamer, no sugar. Just coffee. Additionally, NONE of my wet towels that I had left on the floor were replaced. They were left in a pile on the floor. No new towels were provided. When I asked for the manager to call me and adjust my bill for the consistent poor service- I never heard from him. They have a long way to go before they smooth things out. Housekeeping should not be such a hot mess.
The hotel is very charming in its décor and exterior. The subway is extremely conveniently located--right on the corner and two stops to Manhattan! The couple who stayed were very happy with their accommodations.
The R train tends to be very unreliable. I reserved the room for a young couple visiting from Spain and twice they had unpleasant experiences. One night waited an hour and a half for the train to come--didn't get back till 2 AM and the neighborhood is pretty deserted at that hour.
the inside décor of the lobby and downstairs area
room was small
Rooms, service, and staff. The decor is very unique and tasteful! For a business traveler this is a great location.
Great staffs, very close to the subway station, special furnishing, clean rooms.
Breakfast not included, and only provides simple bagels. House keeping didn't leave any bottled water after the first day. Fair price in NYC but still expensive overall.
What i liked is that the facilities where in good conditions and the curb apeal of the place. Besides the location is very convenient because is right infront of the sub entrance
The cleaness is very poor and the staff is not really helpful when you have a problem. I recommend that If you are staying do not buy the rate that includes the breakfast. What they offer is only a few options of hot beverages and pastry.
You're getting more than what you pay for, which is great. My expectations were far exceeded. Will recommend to friends who want to visit the city.
Lovely service from staff
No options for a bathtub
Fun design elements, right above subway. European design feel
Location is "unconventional" to say the least, and this coming from an Astoria guy. Doors don't reach all the way to the floor, so potential for noise issues.
The decor, the room size, the daytime staff.
The noise, the night time staff
