great location, neiborhood is calm and clean
during 4 day i haven't been able to have a hot shower
Friendly kind staff. Location.
Very frustrated when tv reception was out for ABC on the night I wanted to watch the Oscars.
Was in nice neighborhood and very handy location for exploring Central Park and museums. Lots of restaurants close by. Close to subway which was handy. The door staff were friendly.
The room was very small, the carpet was so old and stained. The bathroom was very small and dark with no window or exhaust fan. The water was temperamental. But probably the worst thing was the heater was sooooo loud and you couldn't turn it off! Would go 'clunk clunk clunk' then sizzle which produced a gas type smell. It was also too hot, so we resulted in opening the window, which was actually quite good. Made the room feel fresher and cooled it down a bit.
The location is nice. Near good places
The bed was funky and the room was cold. The heating did not, work and I also did not get any refund or anything of the sort.
The staff was excellent. They kept our room in the building very clean. They answered all of our questions and always greeted us with a smile and a hello. The room was small but overall comfortable. The location was great for subway and bus stops.
It took a little while for the hot water to kick in in the shower and the bathroom was the size of a closet.
I loved the room and the cleanness and the size of the bed. check in went smoothly.
Night staff was not very friendly. no hot water in the morning and no heat
place is good, it is ok...
it's ok ...soso
Room size was cool.
Bathrooms were kind of small but manageable.
There was only cold water in the shower. Staff reported a malfunction in the system at checkout and no compensation for the huge inconvenience of having no shower before checking out. The staff at check-in in the evening as well as check out were quite unpleasant. Wouldn't stay there again.
A great deal for the money. If you do not require 5 star accomodations this is the place to be! I loved being so near Central Park so I could run before going out and dealing with job interviews and other things.
The soundproofing between the rooms leaves something to be desired. I am used to living with people so the noise did not bother me but, I can see how it would be hard for some people to deal with.
It's location served me well for an educator like me, with museums, office supply stores, library, and the park close by. Staff was friendly and professional. The room was clean and cozy.
A few simple maintenance issues: noisy bathroom fan. Sink drainage not working properly. No proper size desk or table in the room, the room was designed just for sleep.
Far away from Manhattan Very hot room Impossible to regulate temp. impossible to open windows One small and slow lift for the whole building
We loved the location, the staff was friendly and the room was clean.
The heat was turned up so high, we felt like we were suffocating even after the windows were opened. No ceiling fan to circulate the air. We called the front desk to ask if they could turn the heat down but they said they couldn't control it room to room... which I understand it is an old building but I don't see how every other room could have been comfortable. It was so extremely hot and we did not sleep well either night because of it.
The room was clean The bed was comfy and clean as the rest of the room
There was no hot water in the room for a hr. We got to check out later because of this The room gets etremely hot and there's no temperature control I can hear people walking past my door early in the morning
Location is good
Too small and too noisy
Very friendly staff. Quiet location. Next to Central Park, Museums and Metro.
For the price and all upsides you cannot complain
location, location, location very clean comfortable bed
it is an old house- which is part of its charm- but it also means the accommodation is nothing for travelers who are particular sensitive to noise
The beds are really comfortable and the location was fine. Good connections with the subway to the rest of the city.
You could hear the rooms next to yours really well. We had the problem that our connecting room had a guest that started calling friends in the middle of the night and we woke up because of that sevral times.
Room was good. Staff was excellent. Slept like a rock.
It was all good.
Staff - could not have been nicer Fact the hotel was warm & clean Bed was lovely and comfortable Excellent value for money
Plastic cover on bed Stronge chemical smell from the bed - maybe plastic cover cleaned with some stronge smelling chemical
This place reminds me of a European boutique hotel - very correct, not fancy but quite nice and tasteful. Original hardwood floors (building built in 1910). The neighborhood is tops - I've lived here for 20 years, always thought this was a private residence building. Now I live abroad and had to find a hotel for the first time. I will never bother to look for another hotel - this is it for me.
Bathroom was tiny - no place to put toiletries.
