The location was wonderful, only one block from central park, convenient to the subway.
The shower was horrific. You could never adjust the hot and cold, and half the time you scalded yourself or were taking a freezing cold shower. The bed was also very uncomfortable. No adjustment for temperature control in room leaving the room too hot or too cold.
Wide screen tv and easy access
No restaurant or cafe'. Room had a smell on first entry
Location was good and staff was very helpful. Bed slept nicely.
No A/C in our room had to sleep with window and curtain wide open. My 18 foot camper has twice as much floor space
convenient location room was clean
this hotel has residents who still live there after the building was converted to a hotel--this is common in NYC. Our room was between 2 resident apts. and the smell on the hallway was not very pleasant. Very stale--just like the smell of cooking odors. Rooms should not be rented in the vicinity of residents. The bathroom is tiny! and there was a large column right in the middle of it. The AC units had recently been taken out of the windows and there was no air circulation in the room. Coffee in the mornings is from a single serve machine. Tastes OK but this could be a lot better. No full length mirror in the room and the only mirror in the bedroom is hung too high to use. No comfortable chair to sit in I have stayed in many hotels in NYC and while this was adequate the price is too high for what you get.
Location was leafy and nice
Hotel is old and ugly, rooms are small with no ventilating, it almost feels like a bearable prison , will not put my dog there! Didn't sleep, sat on the edge of the bed waiting to check out the next day, pictures on the net very deceiving.
Location of hotel
Staff not accommodating Booked deluxe room - no air in the room - staff did not respond to request adequately. quality of furniture poor
The location is very good.
I stayed on the first floor with very poor ventilation and I couldn't open the window or the shade because I was on the first floor. For the price, this was a really bad deal.
Location was good. Facilities were clean. Close to transport i.e. subway, etc. On the day of our check-in, the staff did give us a label for unloading in front of the hotel. Bed was comfortable, room and bathroom was small but acceptable for short stay.
Staff answered questions but forgot my request for extra towels. When I checked out in the early morning, there was no 'goodbye' or 'thank you'. Only one elevator in the hotel and it was slow. No wi-fi available in the room. No refrigerator in the room either.
Ambience was very nice - cool old-fashioned floors, and effects, kind of a hipster vibe. Bed was extremely comfortable and I slept well.
My handicapped mother and I stayed here and the accommodations were not good for a handicapped person who has trouble walking. There are steps from the sidewalk into the lobby, and no ramp for handicapped access. Also the room was quite small, and Mom couldn't navigate her walker around the bed to the bathroom. Also the bathroom required a step up.
Close to Central Park.
Very small room. Small bathroom.
Super clean facility & helpful, friendly staff. Shared bathrooms were modern & spacious although had to wait 5 minutes for the hot water to come through. Liked having a sink in the room & hair dryer, body wash etc was handy.
Had to share a 'double' sized bed (pushed up against one wall) with a friend which was very cosy, and not ideal, The room was small & outside traffic noisy, plus could hear people talking until 3am in the next room. Not good value for what it cost, but ok for the 2 nights. Would look for something better next time.
Very close to Central Park, shops, Museums, Hudson River
It was a little cold (October) and no temperature regulator/conditioner
Beds were comfy, towels were quality, flat screen TV nice. Staff was the best thing going for this hotel although bell-boy was not helpful at all.
Woodwork has chipped paint that's been painted over 1000 times and decor has no coordination. Cheap drapes, lateral file cabinet for dresser, and itty, bitty bathroom.
Very good location, safe and really nice part of NYC. Near metro, park, everything! Staff were great. Helpful and friendly. Coffee machine in the morning. Quiet, comfortable room Very good price for this location
-Friendly staff -Clean beds and rooms with new towels every day -Complimentary coffee and tea in the mornings -Good location, close to subways and restaurants -Safe neighborhood
-Loud when facing st. 79, ask for a room facing the north side -Slow elevator -No bar
location and the friendly staff.
The room that we paid more than $235 per night was so tiny and filthy beyond any standard. it seems that the carpet hasn't been vacuumed for ages. In fact i think the carpet is moldy and stinks. There is not even a trash bin in the room. The bathroom is another story. It is so cramped that an average built man like I cant sit on the toilet with out hitting my knees the wall and the underside of the sink . Forget about the shower, you can hardly squeeze in to it. there is no room to manure your body at all . I hope you make some changes.or discontinue renting this room.
Conveniently Located Walking distance to food places & punlic transport Safe Location
Strange Smell in Lobby Carpert Dirty Small uncomfortable Bed Very Small Bathroom Poor Sound insulation
Loved my free coffee in the morning! Hotel close to delis 2 subway lines: 1 and A C E. Central park a hop away! Sunday market @ columbus ave! Lots eating places @ amsterdam ave! staff lovely Definitely will return here Very personal homely hotel!
The location was great since were were attending a concer in Central Park. Close to several trains. Staff was very friendly and helpfull. was nervous about the shared bathroom thing, but it was always clean and presentable.
Bed was NOT comfortable. Listed as a queen was clearly and double. We have a queen and ithis bed was not as advertised and we did not appreciate it. Lack of good sleep really made the trip rougher than it could have been. Was not ideal for one than one person to a bed. Would recommend only for NYC passer-throughs via party of one ONLY.
Location to Central Park and Subways Complimentary coffee in the morning Great WiFi
Mould in room/bathroom - carpet can do with replacing/deep clean.
No hot water at night. Air con was loud all day/night even on standby. Bed was too squeaky. Hallway has wooden flooring which made a lot of noise when people walked past making it hard to sleep. Worst - Housekeeping started at 9am which is not a very appropriate time especially when you want a lie in. The noise it creates in the hallway is frustrating especially with the noisy floors.
The location is awesome whoch is close to the subway and Central Park. There are ample options of dining around with lot of super markets.
No breakfast Shared bathroom
Stylish but decor a little tired
Duvet made daily in wrong direction!
It is kept spotlessly clean. The rooms have timber floors so they aren't dusty
On our first night we had the standard room that we'd booked - it was tiny and smelled of mould and stale air and the attempt at room freshener fragrance - and the windows were so dirty we kept the curtains closed. It was depressing so the next morning we discovered that out the next room up from the standard - the deluxe - had much more room and was fresh smelling - and even had clean windows - so for just $30 more per night, our experience improved from a rating of very poor to somewhere between good and excellent - especially in terms of comfort!
The standard room was very uncomfortable and smelled! Only big enough for one person - and even then only a poor experience.
