some staff were nice, some not so much. Duvet had huge lumps in it but once you're under it you don't notice. Hot water was unreliable and had to turn heating off at night because it made so much noise, however didn't really need heating as room kept its temperature despite very cold outside.
clean, brilliant location near the park and in a nice safe area with good transport links if you don't want to walk
We could hear everything in the hall and next room over like the rooms were tissue. And the water took to long to get hot.
The beds were very comfortable.
location is wonderful
Two lukewarm showers, of which the staff seemed unsympathetic to our concern.
Location is the only reason to stay here.
the hotel room
short to central park
heating below standard; heating not working in toilette/shower room; quilt was very old, made of a few big balls of wool, not enough to give warmth to the body; no table and no chair in the room.
no water in the morning but I had discount. The hotel management was great
good location . friendly staff . Old charm of building
Heater was noisy
We ran out of hot water mid way through a shower. When I inquired about the water a maintence worker merely told me the hot water unit was working. Also, the hair dryer kept malfunctioning and when I asked for a replacement I had to wait a fairly long time for it, and honestly was on my way out the door for an appointment (with wet hair) by the time the replacement unit arrived.
Nice location. Front desk staff were very gracious and helpful. tiny rooms, but that was not a problem. Fair prices (except without hot water I would never stay there again).
Very cold bathroom. Old windows let the cold wind in and the warm air out. Central heating was working but it's pointless if everything goes right out of the windows again!!
Location, staff and cleanliness were good.
My radiator exploded in the night at 11:30pm whilst I was asleep. Steam and water sprayed all over the curtain and my belongings. The heat was unbearable. (I reported this to the desk). It was tricky to open the window (no air conditioning so to cool the room down I needed the window open), but when I did manage it the traffic noise was awful. There was a dripping sound the whole second night and I couldn't find the source of it to stop it (it wasn't in my room). The curtain did not fully cover the window and was very thin so the room was bright - not ideal for sleeping past sunrise. My radiator was turned off by a member of staff to prevent it spraying hot water everywhere but it still turned itself on again on the last day so it was very hot in my room. The windows are hard to close if they are open at the top as you can't reach (I'm 5ft8). Other guests would use the echoey hallways to have conversations on their phone at midnight! The lift was very slow. The room was designed poorly so getting in and out the door with an average sized suitcase was difficult. The TV remote wouldn't turn off the TV so you have to get out of bed to turn it off. The shower's pressure was very poor and it wasn't clear how to control the temperature which flipped between the two extremes even with the most delicate of adjustments to the tap. The room faces a very wide road (2 lanes of traffic) and is used by heavy vehicles like trucks and buses at night. The sound proofing is terrible.
The doormen were very helpful and attentive. The pillows were very comfortable.
The room was very small and it was very noisy. The bathroom smelled like a moldy pool. I was quoted a different price for a 5 pm checkout and ended up paying 1 extra day instead of 1/2 day.
The bed was comfortable, and the free wifi was appreciated.
The toilet gave us some problems in the bathroom and one of the maintenance guys just opened the door without knocking once.
The location was good and the doormen were very polite and friendly.
Lovely, friendly, helpful staff. Couldn't have been more helpful.
The walls are quite thin, so noise from other rooms travels, plus the heating is a bit temperamental.
Very friendly staff, really comfy bed, fabulous location, perfect for Central Park and subway and fantastic value for money!
The Staff was extremely helpful all the time! and it was closer to everything: Central Park, Natural History and Metropolitan Museums, Metro station, restaurants, etc.
Temperature control was bad. Over all very bad experience
Location was the main reason we bought it but wasn't ready to see what we saw. I expected nyc hotels to be small rooms but I cannot call this a room. It's like half or 1/4th a room.
Location. And very quiet.
The had some heating problems which they finally fixed I have made a second reservation for late March
Clean. friendly staff. good loccation. excellennt price
The employees where amazing. So much better than i thought it would be. its a very comfy atmosphere, great service and excellent choice.
very small bathroom room moquette and bathroom tiles probably need refurbishment breakfast included doesn't mean regular breakfast, just hot drinks in the hall
Very nice staff and excellent position. Queen room size matches european standard. Clean and warm, RECOMMENDED!
during 4 day i haven't been able to have a hot shower
great location, neiborhood is calm and clean
Very frustrated when tv reception was out for ABC on the night I wanted to watch the Oscars.
Friendly kind staff. Location.
The room was very small, the carpet was so old and stained. The bathroom was very small and dark with no window or exhaust fan. The water was temperamental. But probably the worst thing was the heater was sooooo loud and you couldn't turn it off! Would go 'clunk clunk clunk' then sizzle which produced a gas type smell. It was also too hot, so we resulted in opening the window, which was actually quite good. Made the room feel fresher and cooled it down a bit.
Was in nice neighborhood and very handy location for exploring Central Park and museums. Lots of restaurants close by. Close to subway which was handy. The door staff were friendly.
