It is well situated for touring around New York as it is near train and subway stations, and walking distance from the Empire State building and Times Square and many other attractions. On arrival you will be given the key to a room which you will find to be awful, you will return to the checkin and be given another room this will be just as bad. When doing this you will meet fellow guests in the lift with hands full of room keys doing the same search. You will accept a room in the end as this process of touring dark corridores on stained carpets wears you down. Our room had mould on the ceiling decrepid decor, light bulbs missing, no clock radio, and no one answers the maintenance number that all staff tell you to ring, so what you see is what you get. No rooms in the hotel have coffee making machines! We were told, We are seasoned world travellers and this hotel was the worst we have ever stayed in, a common description among guests was the place is a dump. During our five day stay we did not meet anyone who was happy to be in this hotel.

Location - it's just near the Times Square Almost everything was bad.. Starting with our check in: receptionist was unfriendly and even rude to us. When we call manager to complain, she behaved herself almost with the same manner.. ridiculous! One of our Visa cards was not working.. they don't accept cash - if we would not have other working card, what they expected us to do I wonder? Rooms did not look the same as on the pictures, it was very cold, because windows were old and wind always blow into the room, the heater did not help much. Room was not very clean and we could see old dust near lamp (it seemed that staff just did not bother themselves) to do this room properly. and Internet as well as storage room was for additional pay... did not see that for a long time.. etc.

There was not much to like. One of the worst hotel stays ever. Overall very disappointing experience. It was quite a disappointing stay due to the following reasons - the rooms and hotel corridors were quite dirty and seemed in poor shape even though i paid for a superior room - at all areas there were delays in customer handling such as at reception, elevators, concierge, and lobby - the level of service was quite poor and the staff only seemed to be interested in making their tips and not really giving service

I needed a room during an extremely busy week of U.N. activity. That's the only thing I liked about this booking. I stayed on the 15th floor, and I can only speak of that, It was is need of a major makeover. The bathroom appears to have been remodeled, but the furnishings were plain, old and tired. The artwork was dated and mediocre. I've visited the city many times in the last 75 years, and I've never felt so ripped off. You couldn't sell me that room again for over $150, believe me. What do you mean by "Do not use this review for complaints" ? You're asking what I didn't like, aren't you? Frankly, I can't think of anything to offer other than complaints.

All about the hotel were so disgusting except location. The working staffs were so unkind, they said ' u can just sleep in this hotel ' , but we could'nt succed to sleep in this ugly, dark and noisy hotel. If u stay in this hotel u'll be in center of newyork with the mood of unhappiness, weakness, unconciousness. U'll need contact with the nearby hospitals.

Nice big rooms and quiet inside (but noisy ny outside!).....Hotel staff friendly in the main. A ghastly wait in line to check in ....absolutely disgraceful. We waited over an hour to check in on a Wed late afternoon. This was intolerable and means we would never stay there again. We were told this is quite normal.....if it is, then why on earth don't they have 3 times the no. Of clerks to be used and speed it up? Quite shocking and we have never ever experienced such a thing. This must be looked into, as it shrieks of bad mis-management, which will seriously put people off. I would not recommend it because of this. After a long flight from Europe, this is the last thing required. Very very poor and frustrating.

The staff was rude, the room was awful. The hotel is old, had mold, not clean and just overall bad. I had to wait for three hours for a internet cord that never came until I called again. The it guy came to my room while I was in the shower, and I had asked him to come later in the morning. Also, there was no check out line and the front desk people are the worst, mean, and overall rude.

This is the worst place I ever stayed in. Line to check in - 1.5 (lady at the reception said it is normal) She could not gave me the room I booked and offered instead similar on the smoking floor, I disagreed and she said that I am very demanding! She said that she is not supposed to give me the room I ordered, she can just give me what they have. The room I got was on the 8th floor. This is a small, dirty room, shabby and the worst - smelly and damp. You can not open the window. The enamel in the bathtub is cracked, the paint on the walls was cracked too. For the money they charge - this is an awful place! Just disgusting.....

The only positive thing about this hotel is the location. Believe to what others write. Do not get close to this hotel. The pictures of the rooms are deceiving, they are very small!!! They don't have a thing called "Club 5000", it is a fiction. They do not have a quick check-in, to check in you have to stay in line, at least 1 hour. The place is old, smelly and falling apart. They do not have coffee machines in the room, all rooms. You cannot move the windows or open it to get some air. The plaster on the walls and ceilings falling down, the bathroom is 100 years old. They do not have such a thing called "breakfast"!!! In a small room they have a coffee machine, bagels and apples, that is all!!! No place to sit down; to get the coffee you must stay in line 15 minutes. There is a feeling that you are not safe, nobody stops the outside people from walking inside the hotel and knock on your door. The elevators are always packed with passengers; therefore you have to wait long time for it. The receptionists are rude, impolite and really don't care about you. The guests in this hotel are loud and noisy. Do not bother to check this mad-house called "hotel".

We liked the excellent location.also the complimentary breakfast was excellent.Great location for shopping and hotel fine if you are not going to spend much time in the room. Our room was very shabby and dusty.also constant smell of smoke on our floor so obviously no smoking rule is not enforced.staff at checking were not very friendly.i also lost a bracelet of great sentimental value but girl I spoke to at reception was very dismissive.

The location the cleaners were cheerful The staff at excursion desk - unhelpful, rude, couldn't be bothered to give out the correct information. Try and check yourself on the internet before going. The first room I was given was small, dark and dated, second room wasn't much better. The hotel was overpriced, not just rooms, but cafe in lobby as well. Deli over the road was half the price. The internet wasn't free? $5 for 20/30 minutes can't believe they would charge for it and not available in bedrooms either, you had to sit in lobby. Tip - go to top floors and by the lifts nearest to windows you can pick up free wifi from mcdonalds or macys long queue for reception desk, they also allow people to push in. Dubious people hanging around the lobby

Could not fault the hotel and was in a perfect location for the sights - we upgraded to a Penn room and glad we did. Breakfast was good with good choice of pastries, bagles and coffee enough to set you up for the day. Would definitely stay at this hotel again and great value for a city stay.
