Hard to think of anything - but maybe a rather small bathroom.
Everything - the building itself, which has aged beautifully but is so well kept up; the doorman to call cabs; a beautiful large room with sofa and chair; and the Dubliner, a classic pub.

We had a difficult time on two occasions ordering room service. We found that the call does not go to the main desk but to the restaurant directly and went to voice mail once and no answer a second time. When they did show the waiter was very courteous.
Location was important to us. The hotel is within a block of Union Station and very close to other sites we were interested in. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

We stayed on the 7th Floor facing Union Station for 4 miserable nights. The traffic, sirens and buses were unbearable. We've stayed in major cities before - Times Square, Chicago, Boston - and have never experienced this level of noise. There is no form of insulation or sound barrier in the windows/walls. We were lucky to get 3-4 hrs of sleep. The traffic noise becomes bearable only between 1am-5am (as long as there are no sirens). The room also got very cold at night. There are thermostats in the room, but they obviously don't serve any purpose. There was frost on the inside of our windows! The restaurant was also freezing we when we went down at 8:30am. Our $40 breakfast came with frozen butter and got cold in a matter of minutes. We're from New England so we know cold. I had read many reviews and thought I knew what to expect. How could no one mention this???? Also, there are many reviews for friendly staff but that was not part of our experience either; we might as well been invisible. The location is convenient. There are several other hotels just round the block. I would suggest choosing one of them.
Location was convenient

The room was very small, and the attendant told me I was in one of the larger rooms.
The bed was very comfortable.

A little pricey for a hotel with no breakfast included.
Very friendly staff and location is perfect. Would definitely come back!

I was in room 519 it was really small

The room we had stunk of cheap cleaning product. Walking past another open room on my way to reception to ask to change rooms the same stink was emanating. I didn't bother changing rooms. The room décor is awful. We stayed in 5 hotels in NYC, Las Vegas, Hawaii and Washington and this one only just pipped Hawaii to come second last both in size, and quality.
The location was fantastic.

Bathroom door lock did not work.
Very close to Capitol and all the museums/landmarks, and just near Union Station metro. Irish pub in the same building.

Historic - across from Union Station Great location - easy access to transportation and great walking.

Massachusetts Ave is a very busy street, if you need quite stay try to get a room on the other side of the hotel.
It was very close to the capital and union station.

All the other staff were condescending. When reporting an incorrect bill the lady was very rude and intimated that $19 was not really a big deal and was I suggesting that she had stolen it from me. Not professional at all.
The porter from Cameroon was very friendly

The extra cost of parking, bottle water was unreal. The food at the Dubliner Pub was poor, ordered the half chicken, baked potatoe and even the veges were cold not even veggies were warm .Fortunately the station was close by
The location, close to Union Station, mall Congress building Metro were the main features of this hotel.

Couldn't stay longer? ;-) Thank you very much Phoenix Park!
Love love love the Dubliner. Both for late night fish & chips AND for the brunch. Ate solo at the bar, had wonderful conversation with other patrons.

Room toilet got flooded just an hour we checked in. The carpets were wet and staff have to clean the area for a while..
The accessibility of this hotel for business travelers. Located near great eateries and rates are not too expensive.

The bar next door. The breakfasts where overpriced. We asked for soda bread and got wholemeal. Not sure that they knew what soda bread is.

Turn down service can be improved. A little bit of mint chocolate would be great.
Location was awesome. Everything was close to this place. Staff was very helpful and accommodating.

- Incredibly small room for $200+/night. - $50 per night to park! - $4 for water (should be complimentary at those prices). - didn't clean bathroom AT ALL after our first night; just made bed - keys to room didn't work; no phones anywhere to call downstairs. Waited 15 minutes for fix when we were in a big hurry

Small room (#301), even by New York or London standards, to the point of cramped. Bed and a small desk filled nearly all the livable space. Small chest of drawers and safe were placed in closet, filling nearly all the usable closet space. Could make do with 1 person, but 2 would have been very difficult.
There is much to like. The location on Capitol Hill, a block from Union Station, could not be better. Sparkling clean; friendly staff; quiet room; nice bed; great shower; nice robes, and large bath (too large really given how little room was left).

The staff made every effort to accommodate my early check-in request. Highly recommend.
