Nothing in this place that I like.
Good location: walkable to Moda Center, near to bus and light-rail stops; good price for a near downtown hotel
The towels stink.
relative proximity to downtown and lloyd district, convention center, etc.
Smelled like a dirty mop. Dirty and run down in general. Unidentified hairs in the bed and in tub. Very sparse. Uncomfortable. Druggies and questionable people loitering about. Feared that our car would be broken into. None of the usual hotel ammeneties. Loud. Also, shockingly the place has a 10:00 AM checkout time and the guy at the "front desk" was heard banging on all the doors at 9:18 AM reminding everybody of this fact. Unpleasent experience in general. Better off sleeping in the car. Advertised at 65.00 as a special and paid 80.00 a night in the end. Thankfully only one night! NOT WORTH $80.00 unless "meth den chic" is your thing. If that is the case then I am sure you will be delighted
I arrived late and the gentleman who checked me in was very polite.
The condition of the room was a surprise to what I would have expected. I had a nose bleed within 20 minutes and hard to breath. Cockroaches.
It is in a convenient location
I was not given a key, the whole place was left open so that anyone could have walked in. Only one bathroom which also contained the toilet so there was a long wait and it wasn't very clean.
Accessibility to the Convention Center - within walking distance Easy access to interstate and downtown Portland
No receipt; it's a dormitory with only sleeping beds in the room; no electrical outlet in the bathroom; only one electrical outlet in the bedroom; very cramped
Location, price, and friendly staff. Very clean. I discovered Tiny's around the corner in the morning very cool. So close to the Convention Center, I didn't notice the slight distance over the other option a bit closer.
No towels, unless you were supposed to find them yourself.
Location. Was in a good place by Lloyd Center
It was dirty and creepy, the owners are renting out part of their unclean/unsanitary living space to for far more than its worth and calling it a hostile. The healt department shout close this plase down. Also they make u sigh a "No Refund " agreement before ure able to see the space. So u pretty much get scammed. There is no security anyone can just come go as they please, unless ure in on of the gross queen or king bed rooms. DONT STAY!!! The stay in your car in the parking lot would be better, its what i did, after payin and then looking at room/ space. Although i did go to use the toliet... where i hovered to urinate.
Location in/near Lloyd district was very good. Bed was okay.
No towels or toilet paper, windows wouldn't lock, locked door lose in jamb, no top sheet on bed, as a whole property was very run down. didn't feel safe here.
No keys given so if you return late you have to ring the bell and wait for someone to wake and come to the door. No storage for bags. Reception is always locked. 30min walk to anything.
Close to the Moto Center.
No toilet paper, no towels, no bed spread, no garbage can, no coffee pot, no ice bucket, no cups, dirty nasty motel. Had to fetch my own towels from the laundry room, I was afraid of getting bed bugs and would not shower there. Need I say more!!! Worst lodging experience of my life!
The lady at the counter was friendly.
It was not what I expected. The facility was not clean. Sharing a room was not an option for me. Bathroom and kitchen smelled bad, like urine.
I thought booked a room in male dormitory and when i showed up, the door to the check in office was locked and owner was on bed inside and literally took her 5 min to move herslef from her room to the reception desk due to her disability. I stood outside for 5 min till she reached the buzzer to open the door. She checks me in and tells me to go to the room. When i open the door to my room there are two other guys sharing the room. I had no idea and it was not clearly mentioned on booking.com website. The two guys in there also did not know it was a shared room till they got there. It had a roll in bed on the side and bedsheet with a pillow and nothing else. Shared the bathroom with 7 other guys and girls that were staying there that night. The place was very run down with molds on every corner.
Price Location was great. Staff very helpful
Insufficient towels Poor repair/rundown, especially shower and bath AC not working
- staff (Roxy is a very sweet lady) - price (by far the cheapest option when I booked a bed in Portland) - public transport (only 2 minutes to busses, 7 minutes to the MAX station for blue, red, and yellow line) I read so many bad things about Portland Pensione, but as it was the only inexpensive option for my stay I booked this place anyways. It turned out to be not bad at all. The bedroom was clean, the bathroom could have needed a little more cleaning (but I blame it on a fellow backpacker who must have messed the bathroom up one night). And seriously, for this awesome price you simply cannot expect a 5 star mansion. I can recommend it to anybody traveling alone (I can't say anything about traveling to this place in groups of more people).
minor negative point: location The neighborhood is very nice looking but kind of creepy, many houses seem to be unoccupied. BUT: Nothing ever happened to me, nobody talked to me, so it was all good. - no lockers in room.
Roxy is a very nice woman and very helpful. The location is good ,few blocks away from max station, very quite during the night. The hotel is nice and clean.
The room space is limited and a little bit old. The AC in our room doesn't work very well, luckily Portland is not hot during the night even in August.
Not much to like. We stayed over for one night only. The staff was nice, even if far from professional.
I did not appreciate having someone knocking on the door at 9:20 announcing that the check-out was at 10:00. The place looked sort of clean - if you are not that kind of person that looks under the bed (needless to say like I did). My brother would have liked to have two pillows and there was only one set of towels. I can imagine better deals for the price.
I booked this place because it was the only option available near to the centre of Portland at short notice within my price range (under $200/night). I booked the dorm room for one night and actually left to go elsewhere. The dorm room is effectively a bedroom within the owner's house. It was unclean and noisy. I also booked a private room for a couple of nights, which I did stay. The private room was better than the dorm, but rundown and unclean. I got the feeling everyone else there were permanent residents. The wifi did not work inside the room, only outside. The only positive about this place is the price, and it is relatively close to town if traveling by bike. I would not recommend.
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room and bathroom were very clean aside from the bedspread which had some burn holes in it. The whole building was extremely quiet at night so no disturbances while we slept. For the price, and if you're only staying a night or two, totally worth it.
Not a place you want to spend a lot of time at. Good for sleeping if you are just passing through like we were.
It is low key in a quiet neighborhood but makes it hard for traveler to find. It is run by Mom and Pop.
Fax machine is always down. They have no other staff to answer the phone only the owner. She rarely answers the phone. You can keep trying you probably get 1 out of times. No food service and even coffee.
The staff was great! Rhodney worked his butt off keeping the place clean and he even joked around with those of us staying in the hostel. I was lucky enough to stay at the Pensione while a fantastic group of travelers were also staying, so the house-like setup was perfect for allowing us all to get to know each other, talk, eat together, and become close friends.
The shower is a little hard to figure out, the kitchen never really feels clean, and some of the bathroom moulding is falling off (not dangerous as it's near the floor, it just looks gross).
The room was not clean. All furniture (tv included) was damaged. There was no fitted sheet on the bed. Vomit was in the trashcan. Had to ask for towels and soap.
They should fix a key on the door.
The wireless internet was pretty fast. The maintenance guy was friendly and helped me back into my room after I stupidly locked myself out. The location is just a short walk away from downtown Portland.
It was dirty. The sheets didn't fit the mattress. The television had literally been stabbed multiple times before I arrived. The words "THE AXE MAN" were carved in large letters deep into the top of the sink. They charged $45 for linens but didn't provide towels (or soap, or anything other than a non-fitting sheet and a ragged, moth-eaten duvet).
