Renovation on going
Simple and clean, still pricy but ok for SFO. It is great that you can open the windows.
Staff was awesome.
The staff was rude, and the hotel was shabby
good location Good price
Old and Inconvenient lift Renovations in progress
Location was within 5 minute walk of union square which was very convenient.
Hotel was under serious construction during our stay. This should have been mentioned prior to booking as the work was non stop and the hotel was in shambles. Staff was unhelpful and rude during check in. Room was alright and had a private bathroom, but clearly some people live in the hotel and it constantly smelled of pot and in scents. Very dust and we never felt like our belongings were safe when we left the hotel. I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all. It was pretty expensive and not that much cheaper than some of the surrounding hotels which appeared much nicer.
In a city where hotel rooms have reached astronomical heights, this is an affordable if somewhat dingy option. It's a few steps above the flophouses a few blocks away in the Tenderloin, and it felt fairly safe, but it is basic. On a positive note the bathroom and shower were excellent (private) and the room was clean and the bed comfy.
The rooms are not air conditioned, which is not a huge crime in SF depending on what time of year you are there. With the fan on and the windows open it was cool enough to sleep, but my room had a fire escape right outside and it was a little disconcerting for a single female to sleep with the windows open with the fire escape right there. Also I appreciate that they were doing some renovations in the hallway, and that they have a hard working maintenance man, but he really did not need to be installing a ceiling fan at 10:30 pm in the room next to mine - door opening and closing and drilling and ripping open boxes etc.
door has very thick gap
The staff is friendly and accommodating. The place is being redone, but the room was good and the price is excellent for SF.
-the beds were comfortable. if you can get over the smell, plastic taped off hall ways, the rude staff, and don't mind getting up early due to work being done on the hotel they you might be able to enjoy the pillow top mattresses. -the elevator was super scary and is very unsafe but was kind of fun. you have to be very careful because it is very old and the gate slams shut and it's very loud.
-the staff was by far the rudest and most strict, extra $20 per person for over 2 people no matter what size bed you have and no one can even come hangout unless you pay. Every time we walked out and back in they -all carpets are plastic taped off because of renovations which were never disclosed. it was like Dexter's crime scene everywhere. -the smell was so bad I happen to catch the owner spraying febreze in the rooms and hallways -SMALLEST ROOMS EVER! so small my bathroom door couldn't open the whole way because the bed was put right in front of it -they make it very clear that you are on camera and they are watching your every move so don't do something you aren't suppose to. WTF? are you my mom or the government? -we couldn't sleep in past 9 am on sunday because the staff was scraping the walls in the next room and hammering things -BY FAR THE WORST EXPERIENCE
- Staff (guy at the reception desk) was nice and helpful - The room had a wooden floor, a nice surprise in a city where all you get is carpet floor - Bed was ok
- As it is cheap, there are people living there, as a hostel, and they are noisy, walking through the corridors late at night, listening to music, etc - There was work in progress in the corridors and they were all covered with plastic, there was dust everywhere -it even entered the room- and the smell was awful - The lift is too old and difficult to use if you are carrying a suitcase or shopping bags
excellent location, clean and comfortable, the staff are nice and really helpful
A separated bathroom
the shared bathroom
Location, the room and bed where very good. If you take into consideration the price, the value for money relationship was excellent.
Location, one of the cheaper hotels
Shared bathroom, no AC, bed uncomfortable with a plastic liner over it adding to the sweating you do throughout the night because of the no AC, noisy... Fairly clean but renovations everywhere making it an obstacle course to get through, smells like cats
location clean facilities service
Staff were friendly. The location was good.
Probably because of the Oracle Open World thing in Downtown San Francisco, the price of hotel rooms went up too much. It is a shame to raise the price so much that the hotel industry in SF makes money at the expense of tourists who have nothing to do with the Oracle event.
The staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful. The rooms were a little small but they were all updated with new furnishings. Location was fantastic and restaurants were everywhere. Will definitely stay again!
City centre, staff very friendly.
Small rooms compared to size of bed. No safe. Location okay, but homeless in surrounding streets, not hotel fault.
Great position - close to Union Square - at a reasonable price. Room was small but comfy and quiet. Loved the quirky 40's elevator.
Lack of professionalism of front desk staff - the exception being the lovely Spanish speaking gentleman. Not knowing about the renovations ( the staff didn't tell us on arrival ) put a dampener on our stay.
Location near Union Sq.
Room very small. Very poor standard, more like a YMCA
Shared bathroom in corridor. Construction works on site. Fire alarms testing. Small and short bed. Smell in the room.
Location really great Room really nice Tv Air cond
They were work early in the morning ! They should say to guest because it was not nice And the vue of my room was a wall !!
Staff really helpfull and available. There is the internal laundry and a good wifi connection.
Clingfilm all over the moquette. I dont know how much time did they spend in order to cover it.
Location was excellent. Cafe next door did great food. Staff were friendly and bedrooms clean.
No air-con, only a fan.
