Score from 1071 reviews Good
Good location two blocks from Union Square shopping area.
Cockroaches in bedroom, uncomfortable sagging mattress in desperate need of replacement, small room, no air conditioning and a fan that can't be turned on without the lights on. Glass so thin there might as well not be a window - constant noise and sirens outside even though we were on the top floor. Despite being close to Union Square, it is in a bad neighbourhood with prostitutes working the streets outside, and my partner did not feel safe going to the hotel on her own. Staff were extremely rude and unhelpful after items stolen from room, it seems they need organisation and management. The hotel was being renovated at the time we stayed, which was extremely unsafe and inconvenient. There were exposed wires in the hallways, with water leaking from the roof during the rain. Renovation continued late into the evening, disrupting our sleep and there was no mention of an apology from the staff or prior information about the ongoing work. There were no safety notices in the bedrooms to advise of fire exits - surely this is a basic requirement? The WiFi was free but slowed to a crawl in the evening so was practically unusable at these times.
location, price, convenience Good place to stay if you just want somewhere cheap and central for a few nights.
Very little facilities
Clean room. Laundry facilities. Location.
Rude staff. Renovating but run down.
Staff were nice and very helpful. The location is close to union square and many city attractions. The room was clean and the bed comfortable.
The hotel is in renovation that seems to be forever. Walking from the hotel in early morning was somewhat spooky. Sometimes at night there were noises coming from the pluming system (or at least that how it sounded)
Tap not workibg inthe bathroon.
Was on going renovation & power was cut off so no hot water..Not informed of the renovation
Comfortable, great location and friendly staff
No wifi, no breakfast and an old elevator. . In ad, it was supposed to have wifi and breakfast but it didn't
Room itself was very nice.
Hotel hallways were a total mess - under construction/repair. Additionally, there was an eviction sign posted on a room down the hall from mine. Wifi didn't work.
the people of this hotel is very kind.
Internet services are not so good.
Location Price (was reduced because of maintenance on electricity)
The location was great - walking distance from the main square and public transport. (Though I pretty much walked to everywhere, including Fisherman's wharf.) The staff were also good in helping you get your bearings in the city.
The hotel was under heavy refurbishing when I stayed so there were plastic covers all over the hallway of my floor, large gaping holes in the ceiling and the smell of construction throughout the floor.
Location, location, location. The room was clean, modern and well equipped. Staff was nice and helpful.
There were some renovations going on so the corridors were all cover in plastic and there were workers everywhere. The lobby looks a little bit ran down.
Location is fantastic.
Expect no luxury. This is a simple hotel just adequate for rest after a day of work or leisure.
It was close to where I had to work.
It was loud. I was right by a communal bathroom that had a door that slammed, so I got woken up many times through the night. The heater was stuck on so it got really hot at night. The heater made loud banging noises one night, kept me up for an hour. Staff was unhelpful. I couldn't cancel my stay and get into a nicer hotel. I would never stay here again and highly advise against staying here.
The room is very clean.
It's noisy because of the street.
Very clean room, nice size. Comfortable bed Free wifi
Reception is smelly and needs an upgrade.
Location. Cleanliness of the room and the bathroom.
Tiny room. Nearly no space to hang your clothes. The hotel was under renovation so it looked like we were at war. There was this awkward noise that woke us up at 4:30 AM every day.The wifi is so poor is non existant. There is no fridge. The cleaning lady threw our bag with food and our folder with important documents (by mistake, of course, but still... They payed breakfast for us next door on our last day though)
I liked the location. It was really close to the concert I was going to and also close to market and mission wich was convenient. The room was clean, lots of TV channels and a mini fridge.
I didn't like not having my own bathroom. I know sometimes it's to be expected with old Victorian buildings but it was inconvenient. I also didn't like the fact it didn't have its own parking. I had to pay for over night parking and it was expensive. And the hotel staff seemed kinda rude.
Room is new and comfortable with hair dryer and toiletries, staff are very nice and friendly, they cleaned my room everyday (stayed for 2 nights), location was good; 2 blocks away from union square where we get on the city tour bus and the cable car.
Floor/ceiling under renovation, old elavator, very narrow hallway, we were not sure about safety, there's no air-conditioner.
Location next to China town and next door to the hotel is a wonderful coffee house Also great sandwiches any time of day
Room decor was outdated and beds were very hard
I was truly thrilled by the cleanliness, the location, the nice hot water in the shower, the gracious staff. It is the best hotel I've stayed at in San Francisco, and I have been coming to the City for more than 40 year's
No complaints at all
The room was clean, and the bed really comfortable.
The hotel looks like it's in desperate need of a renovation when you walk through the entrance.
The staff and location were terrific
The hotel is located within walking distance to nice cafes and restaurants. Our room had a private bathroom and the shower was superb. The staff were helpful in providing information on how to get about the city.
The room was a bit small but ok considering the price.
