Score from 560 reviews Good
the room had a foul smell, no air conditioning, no fan in bathroom no air circulation, would not tell someone to stay there, worse place ever that I have stayed
No air conditioner in room, bad odor in rooms due to dirty old rugs, electrical wires outside their boxes.
Maid kept it clean!
No AC. No screens on the windows, it was warm in SF that weekend and it's no the most safest thing to do is to sleep with the windows open but we had no choice. Also, they only gave us 4 towels and then we use one or 2 and they do not replace the towels. The guy who runs the hotel is awful. Super unfriendly.
Clean and comfortable
A little exspensive for the age and decor.poor breakfast
Staff were polite and reacted to our objection on the poor room provided (see comment on what we didn't like)
Positioned on Lombard St - 24 Hour 6 lane traffic. Despite asking for a quiet room, initially, we were given a room right above the road, first floor, could NOT have been worse. Room was dingy, had a funny smell, stain on the mattress from vomit (or worse). 'Breakfast' was a box of Danishes placed next to coffee machine, some of which had mould on them. Nowhere to sit and eat, apart from an old bench and table, outside the reception, right by the road. Lift malfunctioned and certificate of compliance expired 2010 (4years ago) No Aircon, Permanent Hobo in vacant adjacent building matched the ambiance of this rather run down hotel and neighbourhood.
I liked the location, the receptionist was kind & helpful.
What was frustrating was that there was no airconditioning unit in the room & the wifi wasn't that good.
Everything, there is absolutely no air circulation in the hotel room, it was very stuffy , when u open the windows there were no screens, the manager said there was a shortage on fans. Very rude, and unconcerned. Not a good place
Close to shops, transport and not far from fishermans wharf. You get what you pay for, it is a cheap motel.
Air Con didn't work, sheets and towels were old and thin, carpet very dirty, have to wear shoes all the time and the Wifi wouldn't connect.
No AirCond at all No internet Very bad beds Rude staff at front office Never again never Go to surf motel just beside
the wifi was REALLY bad, didn't work at all in the room, only outsider the room. The man at the front desk was rude, didn't smile at all!! The room was really old. No aircondition. The breakfast was only toast and there were no seatings. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone!
Everything, the ouner is a horrible person, the instaletions is olders and darty
NO AIR COND. - TO NOISY - HAD TO OPEN WINDOW FOR AIR AND IT WAS NOISY ALL NIGHT LONG. - BREAKFAST . WHAT BREAKFAST??!! BOXED DANISH - BED'S HARD & WORN OUT
Comfortable bed .good shower. On bus line. Breakfast was good. Lots of shops around that you can walk to..staff helpful with directions.
No wifi you only could get signal in main office or outside of office door.carpet was very very dirty.we had to place paper towels around so we could walk in our bare feet.no air condition in rooms.was provided with a fan.
Good location, only about half mile walk from the Wharf. Nice flat screen tv.
No screens on the Windows so couldn't open them for air at night. No air conditioning. Old Hindus man at desk...I don't think he even spoke English. Not sure, he didn't really talk. The beds were hard.
Dark unit, needs paint & fixing. Dim lighting. Felt dirty. Carpet had not been vacuumed. No hangers. Hairdryer didn't work. Trouble with internet. Overpriced for a place that should rate minus stars. Booking.com was awesome in getting our money back. Owner, however, was very rude.
Close to a fully-stocked market. Good cable lineup. Free parking.
1. Woke up every morn with new "itchy bumps that blistered on legs and arms", couldn't see any bugs in bed but had no new ones after we left the hotel. 2. Wi-Fi reception was mostly iffy. 3. TV was ancient even though the cable offerings were more than most hotels. 4. Bathroom fan did not work (and no windows there) 5. No air conditioning--but fan provided circulation and cool air if put in front of the open door. 6. Carpet looked filthy--did not want to walk barefoot. 7. B'fast offering was bread/toast, pre-packaged sweet roll, coffee, tea, juice. Cereals/milk, fruit, even pnut butter for toast would have been welcomed.
It was a little pricey for the area but it was comfortable. The staff was friendly. There was ample parking. We left before the breakfast was served.
No screens on the window for air flow at night.
Nothing much to highlight.
Too much noise all the time. It is on a very busy street.
The location was the only thing that made this a good value.
There was little in the way of customer service. Manager at front desk was not friendly. Quality of the breakfast was poor. The room did not have a working smoke detector or fire system of any kind. The wi-fi (advertised as included) only worked standing outside the room.
Awesome motel in a great location. I was originally staying at a motel for a few days in SOMA area before moving to here. The neighborhood here is much better. The hotel is clean and well-maintained.
The manager of this hotel sucks, he does not know how to smile to customers. The wifi connection of my room No. 104 is so poor then I called him, he even said that why only my room has such problems but not others. You should learn how to treat your customers politely. In addition, the breakfast i soooooo simple!!! you really sucks!!!!
Free Parking Location
WiFi horrible old Dirty Torn carpet with tape Staff was poor at best. This is a very old dirty building, there are many other options in the general vicinity. I cannot recommend this hotel. This is the first review I have ever done.
Convenience to the Bay Bridge.
Water came out of tap brown; so hot I thought I would melt and, of course, no air conditioning; razor knife in window which, I presume, was to get it open, which I had to do in order to cool off the room enough to sleep even though there were no screens; breakfast from 8 - 10 a.m. which may work for personal travelers but not for business; gentleman at front desk doesn't respond to the bell at 7 a.m. in order to get a receipt (put your card key in through the window which is extremely difficult to open; tv was satellite and didn't work properly - kept resetting itself so just turned it off; if you book through Booking.com it's $10 less than booking direct - cancelled original reservation via e-mail but had to call to be sure they got the cancellation because they didn't send notification; garbage trucks showed up at 4:50 a.m. Just an old, dirty hotel. The room wasn't that dirty but the brown water made me glad I had brought my own water bottles.
The room smelled strongly of cleaning products. I thought it was overpriced for such a small room. In the past for $160 there has been a couch in the room too. This was just two beds and a small bathroom. The room waz incredibly hot. No air conditioning and no fan in the closet like they said there would be when we called the front desk. They eventually found one for us.
