Score from 40 reviews Good
Rooms actually pretty nice and well equipped.
Grounds and pool do not appear to well maintained. Pool lights were completely out. Areas around building not maintained.
It had a cool cabiny feel. The bed in the loft gave us some space from our kids. Close to park city and nice pool that was open 24 hours.
The room needed to be updated so it didn't feel like we were sleeping in a ski bums bedroom. The older finished made it feel dark and kinda creepy
The scenery was nice. Close to downtown.
This place was in the middle of construction. There is an off putting odor when you walk in. The rooms remind me of a run down 80's hotel. Both groups of people that went were charged a $150 fine for smoking and neither room had smokers. The remotes didn't work for the television. The vending choices are horrible.
all quite nice!
Beds were too tall! If you need steps like a little dog. It should be self evident!!!
The location was good
The rooms were small, very hard to find, noisy outside, not dark with curtains closed, poor fridge temps. Bathroom and showers were marginal at best
Close to bus stop, cheap
No ice machines, dirty pizza boxes in hallways, faded and torn bed spreads, monthly rentals sharing space with people staying one night, cigarette butts everywhere outside, smelled funny....
The room was very clean, the bedding and small kitchenette were updated. It fit our budget for the one night lodging we needed before heading to our timeshare. The beds were comfortable.
While the room was updated and clean, the halls were very old and somewhat dirty. Stained carpets, hallway had a little closet inlet with no door, old pizza boxes, and a hole in the wall. Grossed my kids out. The walls are paper thin and we heard the comings and goings of every person, including the neighbors to the right who stayed up talking loudly until after 1:00, and the people upstairs who left at 4:30 in the morning and made no effort to be quiet at all. Made for a horrible night sleep.
I chose to stay at The Prospector for my 22nd birthday. Worst decision I've ever made and would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Housekeeping did not clean room, make beds or leave clean towels. Staff was poor in assisting me with anything I called for and requested. I was not accommodated like I felt I should of been and was not happy with my stay.
My room 933, is a privately owned condo and remodeled in 2008; after reading some of the other reviews I was very concerned about the condition of the hotel and what my room would be like. After walking into a run down building with rickety stairs and stained carpet, I was pleasantly surprised and relieved when I walked into my room. The owners did a wonderful job with the remodel. Clean, cute and cozy!
The actual building is very rundown; it needs some serious renovations. Plus no elevator...lugging a heavy suitcase up the stairs wasn't much fun
The room was big and nice comfortable bed. Nice little chicken could have used a bigger fridge but it would have taken up to much space bathroom was nice and clean.
Nothing that stands out I enjoyed my stay there.
After reading some really bad reviews of this place, I called to get more information. The Prospector only manages 30 owner condos out of the 330 units overall. The condo was very nice and we liked the location.
We were give wifi ID and password but it never worked. We only got room service one day despite being told we would get it every day and that's only because we called for coffee refill. I think the price was a bit high for what we got. It was confusing knowing where to go for the front deal as they are renovating.
Very unorganized. Units are half rented by people that live there. Thus there is a need for assigned parking per unit, this does not exist. Had to park on the road 1.5 blocks away. Internet was very slow and faded in and out. Room looked nice at first glance. Beds were horrible, I had to rewire the cable and DVD player. Very very uncomfortable feel to the whole establishment. I would not recommend staying here to anyone.
Location, outdoor hot tub, comfortable bed, room decor
Room service did not stop by on 1 of the 5 days, WIFI didn't work in room sometimes
Nice enough place- clean and comfortable. Television, air con/heating, balcony, nice area. A bit pricey, but I was booked there during Sundance.
It is not really a hotel, more like a bunch of condos. Which is fine, but it was quite exhausting traipsing down the street in the snow at night, by myself, with all my luggage, trying to find the correct number. Just bear this in mind if you are arriving late! One website I looked at said an airport shuttle was included, but they actually have no airport shuttle. I emailed Prospector to request this and they responded to confirm no shuttle. They also emailed me again- three weeks after I had checked out!- to confirm they don't offer a shuttle.
I like Park City and the deal for the night was a good one.
The unit heater made terrible noise all night so we could get on sleep also it is a gas fire place so the room was always lite up. When I talked to the manager she was rude and didn't want to do anything about it. Also requested a hair dryer because the one in the unit didn't work and she did not want to help with that. The staff worker took me to a vacant room and we used it so my wife could dry her hair. Not very impressed with the Manager and don't know if we would stay there again we come up a lot of the things going on and stay when we can.
We had a large comfortable room with a kitchenette, a deck and beautiful view out our sliding door. There was a gas fireplace burning in the corner when we moved into the room. We stayed for New Years Eve and would like to return to the Prospector and stay longer.
There was some major remodeling and it was difficult to navigate around the main building but the staff was very polite and helpful.
Under construction. Exterior door lock security disabled. Cleaning staff inexperianced and sporadic at best. Found staff drying dishes, silverware and glasses with filthy wet towel that looked as if it had cleaned floors first. Address not visible from street so hard to find. Parking lot and walkways to building were lakes during day and ice rinks during nights. No effective cleaning of outside surfaces.
I did not like how I was treated when I went to check out. The supervisor was the only one at the desk and had no clue on how to assist me. She tried calling a manager for help but no one responded. I gave her my information and keys. When I got home I called the desk to see if I was properly checked out and Carolyn whoAnswered the phone was very rude and short. She wanted to know why I checked out early and then told me that I should have checked out earlier so they could have the room ready for someone else that night because they were turning people away. I did not appreciate how she came across. We had paid for that night and we were leaving early do to family business. Check out time is at 11 and we didn't check out until 7:30 pm that night. This is why I rated the staff so low. The room was paid for that night so they were not losing any money. The room was clean and nice.
They let us check in before check-in time because we arrived in town earlier than expected.
The pool was very small, the pool yard was dirty and so was the hot tub. There are red ants everywhere which is an easy problem to fix. The furniture at the pool yard was also filthy. The hotel says to call the front desk for towels but each of the three days we swam they said they didn't have enough towels and one day they gave us 4 face towels (yes little face towels) for 5 of us to take to the pool. The patio and patio furniture off of our room was filthy and nobody answered the phone at the front desk the entire time we were there. We had to walk to another building every time to contact them. Much too expensive to have dirty things around and no customer service.
we enjoyed the whole stay. would stay again, bus was nice didn't have to find parking. staff was so nice and helpful.
My room looked nothing like the pictures!! It needs updated.
Comfy bed. Had a kitchen.
We enjoyed privacy we wanted. Close to stores, mountains, enjoyed quaking aspens back of the room we stayed. A cool weather and clean town. Many good shops. Park city is our favorite place to stay and visit my children living in SLC.
We will be looking forward to renovation you are planning to have.
The towels and sheets were clean and looked new
The paint on the walls was chipped. The tile in the bathroom was cracked the grout very dirty. The furniture was old, dirty and smelled. The chairs on the deck were so dirty that we could not sit outside. We were also overlooking the tennis courts which were full of weeds. We have stayed at The Prospector before and have been pleased but it is very doubtful that we will good again.
