The staff tried really hard and were very helpful and friendly
The inaccessibility of almost everything, the horrible building our room was in, the condom in my parking space, the outdated everything.
The room was clean and the beds were comfortable.
There was no coffee pot available in the room which was a major drawback for us. We had to go out and buy one. The hairdryer was not attached to the wall so when you used it the whole thing dangled. Lighting was dim. Something in the shower was smelly.
Beautiful Connecticut getaway! Child friendly and a peaceful place to be.
room not ready, sink needed service room dirty' needed paint, simply no need for the condition it was in.rug was filthy
We were driving from NY City to Maine and wanted to stop along the way. We chose Sturbridge, MA, because it was convenient, but the Publick House was so welcoming and comfortable we stopped again on the way home. The staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. We stayed in the old part of the inn with its antique furniture and wavy floors, and felt like we were in an English country inn. The food in Ebenezer's Tavern was nothing special, but just fine.
Great place to stay.Resturant and bar .Wonderful decor..Very clean ,Great staff..
clean, a bit shabby but we were in pet friendly room. Staff was helpful.
Low lighting, could not read at night. No tissues.
Rooms were outdated , beds needed to be updated as well as AC for the rooms...the food at the Inn was still amazing and the bakery as well
Excellent staff. Food at the restaurant was good. The inside of the room was clean and everything worked. We were very impressed by the staff who were very attentive to our reservation for the room and dinner. The Inn is an Historic treasure and was very will appointed.
The hotel Facilities need to be upgraded. Was disappointed in the morning coffee and pastries. There was nobody manning the room and there was almost nothing left and the coffee ran out. These were supposed to be available till 10:00 and at 9:40 almost everything was gone. My wife and I were up and down all nite because the mattress was very uncomfortable. The outside of the buildings where the rooms are need a major overhaul.
Very good food
Bed not to comfortable
grounds, staff, relaxed atmosphere
rooms need a bit of sprucing up - doesn't bother us but noticeable. food serving sizes too large
Room was spacious and easy to get to
No Wi-Fi and room had a slight musty smell like it had not being use in a while
The flowers outside the main entrance are magnificent. The price was right.
The room seemed run down and smelled bad. The noise from the Mass Pike meant we could not have the sliding door open.
The original building was beautiful and very historical. The pub and bake shop were also fantastic. The grounds were nicely landscaped.
The rooms in the other buildings were a little outdated and could use a bit of interior remodeling. The bathrooms were small.
Nice room in wooded area.
The rooms smelled damp and it felt like a very tired motel. There is a lot of history tied to the restaurant, but our meal was very disappointing. Our waiter was indifferent and almost rude. Breakfast is inconvenient for the guests in the far rooms. Won't be back.
Bake shop. Food was good. Staff was friendly. Blanket was sandwiched between two sheets.
The room was very dark. Bathroom tile, etc. appeared old and there were stains. A lightbulb was burned out. Couldn't find main desk at first.
We liked that we we were so close to the Old Village and that our room was changed when requested
1. Did not like the original given to use. The sofa looked as if it had been picked from a dumpster. 2. The room that we were moved to has ok but the airconditioning control did not work. We froze all the time we were there. 3. The wedding going on in he back made i noisy for he people that came there for rest and relaxation.
We enjoyed the Inn very much. It retains its old world charm.
There are no elevators to the second floor so that could be an issue for older travelers.
an unexpected treasure
it was all great, room, view, staff dinner ,the overall ambience
I was very impressed overall. Quick on-and-off the highway. The staff was friendly, nice, and seemed to enjoy their work. The main buildings were very attractive: old, early American like a B&B. The food was the biggest surprise. I had NE clam chowder and a crab cake for a light dinner and it was homemade and very good. Morning breakfast - eggs, bacon, buttered toast, and home fries - were better than most breakfast places. Soft, buttery whole wheat toast; nicely charred and spiced potatoes; and the coffee was even good. Also, the bed was very comfortable. The room balcony opened onto a forest, which is a nice change from most hotels/motels.
The room was a bit stale smelling, but I find that common in most hotels/ motels. The only true negative was the breakfast waitress. She was unfriendly, a bit impatient, and inattentive and she only had 3 tables (the rest of the tables were empty).
The Publick House is clean, quaint, and friendly. I stayed in the motor lodge part up on the hill. The room was spacious, the scenery was wonderful. Great attention is given to both the outside of the facilities and to the inside as well. Dining at the Publick House is quite the experience! They even have a bakery that will satisfy one's sweet tooth. A relaxing and fun place to stay and dine. With five works quite well here.
N/A...no negatives that I can see.
The room had no hot water for showering. When we reached out to the desk clerk for assistance we were told to "let the water run for 5-10 minutes". The water wasn't any warmer. The toilet was plugged and no assistance was provided. Now we know why the rate was so low. The room also had a moldy smell. Beautiful location....unfortunate that the stay was unpleasant!
Great service from the staff. My room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Loved the sliding glass door and porch overlooking the woods.
It was all good
