Score from 110 reviews Wonderful
Poor lighting when checking into room and distance from restaurant difficult to find in the dark.
Charming location and the food at the Inn was incredible. Great sense of history and close the OSV.
Unless you stay in the old Inn itself, the rooms are 1970's motel rooms. They are clean and comfortable but do suffer from some age. Things like inconsistent hot water, limited electrical outlets.
Location, Location, Location
King room had the second bed removed with the headboard left in place and the one bed awkwardly at one end of the room.
It was clean, quiet and there was a dining room at the site with a wonderful bakery so we could stock up on special snacks to take trekking. The staff were very nice from desk to dining room and in the bakery and very tolerant of the nine year old.
The food was nothing special for such a widely known venue and with public function rooms, dining room and "tavern" it is odd that the kitchen does not seem to function betwen about 11am and whenever they serve lunch. Our nine year old liked the menu a lot, 'nugh said.
Easy access from major highways. Staff were helpful and agreeable. Setting in autumn month lovely for foliage. Baked goods and coffee were provided, yummy.
The decor needs major update. Colonial is fine, but this is dark & dismal. All woodwork could be painted, chipped. Plumbing was loud and finicky.
Staff was very friendly and attentive...food was very good in the restaurant and the bake shop was excellent....the room was very clean
The room was very small, only one chair and no room to move around.
nice place to stop on a trip
food - servings enormous but bland
clean, friendly, food was excellant
need coffee in rooms
Excellent restaurant. Large room
Lots of stairs.
Restaurant was pretty decent for a motel/hotel.
Our room was aged...something out of 1970's. Needs a refresh.
We have often stayed in the Country Motor Lodge and enjoyed our stays. The setting is lovely and we like the proximity to OSV. The restaurant facilities are also excellent. We received quick service to correct a malfunction in the bathroom with just a phone call to customer service.
The weekend of our last stay was very busy at the Inn with numerous weddings and other parties. Unfortunately both nights that we stayed there were very loud groups of people in the parking lot outside of the building in the middle of the night.
The staff tried really hard and were very helpful and friendly
The inaccessibility of almost everything, the horrible building our room was in, the condom in my parking space, the outdated everything.
The room was clean and the beds were comfortable.
There was no coffee pot available in the room which was a major drawback for us. We had to go out and buy one. The hairdryer was not attached to the wall so when you used it the whole thing dangled. Lighting was dim. Something in the shower was smelly.
Beautiful Connecticut getaway! Child friendly and a peaceful place to be.
room not ready, sink needed service room dirty' needed paint, simply no need for the condition it was in.rug was filthy
We were driving from NY City to Maine and wanted to stop along the way. We chose Sturbridge, MA, because it was convenient, but the Publick House was so welcoming and comfortable we stopped again on the way home. The staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. We stayed in the old part of the inn with its antique furniture and wavy floors, and felt like we were in an English country inn. The food in Ebenezer's Tavern was nothing special, but just fine.
Staff very nice beautiful colonial main house with great restaurant and food and nice ambiance bar downstairs and bake shop for morning pastries
Motel type dated rooms in back had a long walk to restaurant and bar in main building. We were only there 1 night so we didn't mind that much but it wasn't expected
Great place to stay.Resturant and bar .Wonderful decor..Very clean ,Great staff..
For starters when booking.com failed to actually make our reservations in another hotel one night early I was first told the hotel was booked. The manager helped us out and put us in a small room with 2 single beds that didn't meet our requirements of our original reservation. They still manage to get us a hotel when the other hotels in the area were all booked. The room they put us into was very charming. It was a smaller room with what looked like very dated furniture, the beds were actually incredibly comfy and the furniture was in great repair. After the first night we were sad to move to one of there more updated rooms to be closer to the rest of the wedding party. The room we stayed in for the second night was still very well kept the room and bathroom were clean and all furniture was in good repair. The property grounds were also very well kept and very nice looking. The staff was very attentive and quick to answer all questions.
The TV remote did not have a sleep button, that being our only complaint I almost want to leave it out.
clean, a bit shabby but we were in pet friendly room. Staff was helpful.
Low lighting, could not read at night. No tissues.
Rooms were outdated , beds needed to be updated as well as AC for the rooms...the food at the Inn was still amazing and the bakery as well
Excellent staff. Food at the restaurant was good. The inside of the room was clean and everything worked. We were very impressed by the staff who were very attentive to our reservation for the room and dinner. The Inn is an Historic treasure and was very will appointed.
The hotel Facilities need to be upgraded. Was disappointed in the morning coffee and pastries. There was nobody manning the room and there was almost nothing left and the coffee ran out. These were supposed to be available till 10:00 and at 9:40 almost everything was gone. My wife and I were up and down all nite because the mattress was very uncomfortable. The outside of the buildings where the rooms are need a major overhaul.
Very good food
Bed not to comfortable
grounds, staff, relaxed atmosphere
rooms need a bit of sprucing up - doesn't bother us but noticeable. food serving sizes too large
Room was spacious and easy to get to
No Wi-Fi and room had a slight musty smell like it had not being use in a while
