Upon arrival the building where the reception was located was nicely new and renovated. However, when we were shown to our room, the building we were in was under construction. This was not mentioned anywhere by the hotel itself and as we booked in March (when the hotel was not yet under construction) we did not read the recent reviews. The whole building was scaffolded and our windows were covered with plastic cloth. Even though we didn't experience any construction noises at all, and the room itself was perfectly fine, I feel like this could have been mentioned by the hotel as a courtesy to our guests. I must mention we did receive free breakfast for our whole 4-night stay for this inconvenience.
The staff were very friendly and with a car this hotel would be ideal, as it's only about a 15 minute drive from the centre of Chicago. The hotel has a shuttle bus that takes you to and from Chicago at 9.30, 11.30, 14.30 and 18.30. Though these times are perfect for journeys there, they are quite inconvenient when returning from Chicago as there doesn't seem to be much to do in the area around the hotel and then 18.30 is a bit early to return for the rest of the evening. There is a train that takes you back from Millenium Park (the Metra to University Park, get off at 51st/53rd street (hyde park), it's about a 7 minute walk to the hotel from there), however, only the 18.20 and the 20.20 stop at that stop; the 19.20 takes you to the stop after that (I believe it's 56th/57th) and that's about a 15 minute walk back to the hotel.)
