When booking the hotel I was not informed it would be under construction. Now typically this wouldn't be an issue but I had no warning and they started at 6am which was a huge pain.

Nice rooms very comfortable!

No free breakfast. No refrigerator or microwave.
Parking was free. Location is right off local highway. Coffee maker and coffee in room.

It is not a hotel. It was a motel with warn-up furniture from 70ths. The place is under major construction, with windows and the door of the room covered with plastic for dust, and drilling noise. It took me three rounds around the property to find "a reception", which was a storage room with two tables and 3 employees. Booking.com should have warned the travelers
close to University of Chicago

Not knowing that the hotel was under renovation. Also there should be more lighting throughout the hotel. Also needed to have some sort of security patrol

This is not a 3 star hotel. It's more like a 2 star motel (on a good day). Even accounting for construction this place was not up to 3 star standards. The second day there we had no hot water. Maybe this was because of construction, but some warning would have been nice. On the third day we found a ton of ants in our room (despite only having dry food that was sealed) and had to be moved and only got a sorry out of the staff until we asked for compensation (we got $20 back).
We had a place to stay for an ok price. That's about it. Oh and the free parking was nice.

The hotel is under construction. A lot of mess to walk thru to get to room. Workman noise started early in am.
Bed and linens were clean and comfortable

free wifi was terrible all days, every day. useless! this is a cheap (and I feeld overpriced) hotell close to a very trafficed highway. that's it.
the new refurbished rooms were ok. location was in walking distance to trainstation and some restaurants in 53rd street.

Staff do not answer phone. It took me over 2 hours to get through to confirm late arrival and after arrival I was not able to contact them for confirmation of directions. Staff should be told not to put coming calls on hold for over an hour or hang up on the caller. The staff repeatedly hung up on me and did not have the curtesy to ask me to call back or to wait.

The hotel is under renovation, so some outside areas seem messy. Taxis into the City were available, but the waits were sometimes long.
Clean and comfortable. Nice neighborhood. Cafe on the premises.

Our first room was in the renovated portion but the air conditioner did not work. They moved us to the other part and the a/c did not work again but they were able to get it on and then it was fine. We had a millipede in the sink (these things happen) but it was still there after housekeeping came through. I would have thought that they would have gotten rid of it.
The location and they had a shuttle bus to the university

Getting to the hotel room from the temporary front desk was a nightmare. In fact, the temporary front desk was pretty disgusting. It looked like it was in someone's dirty old room. I checked in at night and discovered to my horror that in order to get to my room, I had to walk through a poorly lit parking lot that was under serious construction with water and debris dripping from the ceilings and construction waste everywhere. I took a video because I didn't think anyone would believe me. It would have been nice to have SOME warning at all. It was really shocking to see what you had to walk through to get to the elevator which eventually takes you to a very nice room.
The hotel room was very nice.

Not much to say because it was going under construction.

I came while the hotel was under construction, it made getting around a bit difficult. The decor could use some updating.
The bed was comfortable, the room was clean. It was fine for a one night stay.

The fact that the hotel was under construction and several usual amenities of a hotel were not in place -- yet the hotel rate was still at the above average rate for south Chicago .
Bedding very comfortable.

The day after check in, my credit card was run up in excess of 2k mostly to other hotels in the US.
The restaurant is within walking distance and the meals are plentiful and quite tasty

The hotel is under renovation. The construction workers were standing right outside of the window when I woke up. The room is small, but functional and clean. The coffee pot doesn't fit the coffee maker.
We stayed in Lake Shore when we visited UChicago. The hotel provides free shuttle service to UChicago and Downtown Chicago. The drivers are very friendly, especially Mr. John Brown. He told us a lot of jokes about UChicago, and even took us to tour around Hyde Park and see Obama's house. John is awesome! Metra train station is within walking distance.

Room was clean had a comfortable stay

The renovations are going on. No lobby. Walk up to rooms in conference center area.
Bed was very comfortable and location was good
April 20, 2015
Hotel in renovation. The rooms are dark, no breakfast included, the breakfast for 7$ are terrible. Not recommend.
The localization is fine.
April 20, 2015
Hotel was under renovation and 'reception' operating out of a bedroom with only one discreet sign. We arrived at night and almost left thinking the place was closed down. Credit to the staff that they were so helpful working under those conditions. Poor WiFi.
Location on the lake with hotel shuttle and regular bus service close by. John the shuttle driver was very helpful and informative. Cafe/restaurant at hotel conference centre was good.
April 16, 2015
construction site - no real security. easy access for anyone, and I mean anyone, off the street. No guard in sight. room near or facing Lake Shore Dr. View is excellent but traffic noise was present all night long. Beware - Windows are not sound proof. Disturbed sleep.
good large rooms

renovations all around, even a man walked past our 2nd floor window, they'd erected scaffolding without warning us. Stairway dingy.
room was spacious, staff very helpful.

The front desk was literally a folding table covered with a tablecloth.
Great location--walk to Hyde Park
