Ramada Lake Shore Chicago  

We drove 3 hrs from Goshen, In. To enjoy the cubs game. We arrived at our room at approx 4:00 pm on the 19 of May. We checked in took our suitcases to our room, and the female accompanying me did her hair and make-up. We noticed the room was hot and turned the air on. We left Ramada to go to the game, afterwards stopping at a few bars before returning back to our room. We arrived back at Ramada around 12:30 A.M. only to arrive back to a hot room. We called the front desk, and the younge African-American male receptionist asked us to come to the front desk, which we complied. He walked us back to room to check it aggreeing the ac was broke. He never offered us another room, but promised us a refund sending us on our way with a bus. Card with the managers contact number. No refund was given and the manager I talked to on the 22nd promised to return a phone call today the 23rd but still havent heard anything.

I like that they corrected the mistakes made in my reservations that booking.com apparently messed up. Smoling rooms were requested but not recieved. We had to keep one high priced room and adjust our lifestyle to non smoking.

Needs some work on the outside of building. Wood is rotting and bugs (spiders) everywhere.

We traveled to Chicago on a very busy weekend and couldn't get a hotel downtown (we were going to a wedding so we couldn't change our travel dates). Ramada Lakeshore is located in the Hyde Park area of Chicago. It's only a few minutes from downtown by bus, and the area has a neighborhood feel. Our room was cozy and had a lake view. There is a highway between the hotel and the lake, but the view is still nice. The entrance to the running/bike path along the lake is not far from the hotel.

The people were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is badly in need of repair and remodeling. Plaster was falling off the ceiling in our bathroom. The elevator sounded like it would not make it to the next floor.

The room was very clean and nice.

Convient. Nice rooms and a safe place to stay. I would stay here again.

Would have preferred full beds not twin beds.

Location was good.

No air conditioner and it was hot also the elevator is very slow as if it is about to stop working.

The hotels offers basic clean accomodation, the staff are helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant meals especially the buffet represent good value for money and are good quality. Selina in the bar is absolutely brilliant and made us very welcome indeed. The shuttle bus is very convenient.

The only critism I have was that we could smell cigarette smoke in the mornings presumably from another guest either outside the room or from theirs. I presume the pool is in use during the summer however it was not in use during our visit.

The shuttle service, free parking, easy access to University of Chicago Hospital. The Lake Shore Cafe had good food also.

Room was very warm, even with the heat turned off. Had to open window in the middle of January to get comfortable. There was no refrigerator in the room.

No heat control in lst room they gave us. Had to carry heavy luggage across parking lot and up many, many steps to 2nd room. Price was quoted as total and then in very small words the taxes were added on - total means total not add ons.

Printer didnt work! Guest service.

The standard was not very high, but the location was good, because it was close to my meeting at McCormick Place. Most of the front desk staff was friendly and helpful.

Not having any internet in the room is the largest disadvantage for a business traveler. One needs to cross the parking lot in the dark and during cold/wet weather to get to the lobby for wireless connection.Even that is very slow and my daily emails took me 2 hours every evening. They provided a bus service to the rsna meetting, but it was not well organized. The small van they had did not fit everyone who wanted to go and people had to stay behind. In the evening the bus stopped at a different location than announced on the handout. When I arrived the first night, the heater in the room did not work and I had to go back to the lobby to get the key for another room. During a windy night, the windows were rattling very loud. The staff at the nearby Lakeside Cafe was not very motivated. One morning I asked for coffee, but had to ask again after 10 min wait, when others coming after me were already served. Even though 6:30 is listed as the start time for breakfast, the buffet far from ready at that time..
