The building is very old and although it was updated nicely, the updates weren't done properly, so wallpaper is peeling, tile is chipping, towel/toilet paper racks and hooks are all falling out of the walls, the paint is chipping and the wall sconces/lighting aren't secure in the wall, the sinks are tilted off the wall, shelves in the closets and bathrooms weren't hung securely. It just seems like overall, the renovations were done by someone who knew nothing about finding a stud, using a wall anchor, painters tape, a sanding block, or finishing nails. Its a bummer that there's no sinks in the "kitchenette area", even in the Deluxe Suite all the water to drink or washing a coffee cup has to be done in the bathroom - but having a old building, plumbing isn't everywhere. And the walls are very thin - we hear conversations and the tv from either neighbor.
We love to stay here. The location is premier to walk to the Magnificent Mile and Navy Pier and even just a little longer to the Buckingham Fountain. And the museums are very close (just a short cab ride or drive), too.
