We stayed in the Aloha Suite which had a kitchen and living room area. The location is pretty out there so it's great if you are looking for more of a nature experience. The owner Terry is is great and very hospitable.
While we were staying there there was lava flow heading straight towards the town of Pahoa so it was a bit nerve racking knowing we were staying in a possible danger zone. Also this place is at least a 10 - 15 mins drive to civilization. There really is nothing within walking distance. The pool was a bit murky so we did not use it. Breakfast was good but the same everyday. One day Terry left someone else in charge and we both found hairs in our papaya boat breakfast which was off putting. There were also small cockroaches in our suite, but that's expected because of the location.
This small hotel is in the middle of the beautiful nature, the location is just excellent. We stayed in the Aloha Suite, was clean, the kitchen had everything we needed, the room and bed was comfortable. You can access any attractions easily by car, while you can rest in the night without any disturbing "city" noises. The owner, Terrie is an excellent host and provided an amazing support. She did care of us, recommended many places that the internet do not mention at all: the best snorkelling place, hidden beaches and best place to see the sunset - all of these places show you the real beautify of the Big Island. Every day we had a breakfast, we had never tasted such perfect creation of fruit and yoghurt/cereal before - never the less, it looked gorgeous.
excellent experience of local lifestyle
No taxi service
Beautiful stay in the middle of the jungle Delicious complementary breakfast Warm hospitality and friendly personnel
Coqius (frogs) can be loud during night, but it wasn't a problem for us. We slept very good
Terry was a wonderful owner. We learned many things about the island from her. She cares very much about her guests. Michelle also did a great job. We hope to go back again and bring our family of 18.
Seattle's Best coffee by the coffee maker. Really? We were glad we had brought some fresh Hawaiin coffe with us.
everything was perfect, looks like a typical hawaiian guest house, excellent breakfast, excellent atmosphere, good vibes
the only point is that it's not easy to find
Very nice and helpful staff. Large rooms
The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to see that I had everything I needed and had a good time. The sweet country feel was relaxing and regenerative. I felt completely safe and at home like I was visiting friends.
Was a long way from the main beach areas on the west coast and a long drive to main attractions I'm bigger cities but I came to enjoy and appreciate the local surroundings as unique and lovely so the trip was still very enjoyable.
Great place. very personal touch and wonderful place to stay
the owner was nice and very helpful.
The unit was very rustic and had a smell in the entire unit.
Staff, in the middle of the forest, wildlife
Wifi too slow and almost impossible to get a steady enough connection for e-banking, for example.
Owner was helpful with what to visit in the area.
We had a lot of cockroaches in our kitchen. And a frog in the bathroom. The hygiene of the room was dissapointing.
Breakfasts were nice and we enjoyed Terrie telling us about the garden and the plants. She was also helpful in advising what there was to do in the area.
This was a long way from most places we wanted to see so we spent a lot of time travelling made worse by the roadworks on the Hilo Road. Our bedroom smelt of mould and our daughter's bed was very damp. The pool had algae in it and was then emptied the day after iwe arrived. After the first day we were the only guests. Overpriced for location and facilities compared with other places we have stayed on the Islands.
Great breakfast, nice owner
In the middle of nowhere
