The location is removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. The surrounding lehua forest with the calming sound of rain were conducive to reducing stress and giving one a sense of tranquility.
We had no service once we were there no staff at all. We woke up still no staffing anywhere we didn't get any breakfast no coffee couldn't find s y staff tryef to call owner no call back never saw anyone. We left at 9AM without seeing anyone place was empty. Not happy at all I feel we should get our money back.
It could be nice.
We liked it all
It was clean and comfortable in a beautiful natural setting with the music of birds and frogs.
Hard to find. Needs signs
Loved the papaya boats
The grounds were beautiful and the location idyllic but what really made our stay heavenly was our host. She went far out of her way to meet and surpass our needs and wants. I needed an emergency package from ups which was closed and she spent all morning figuring it out and got it after I'd given up. She was very knowledgeable and accommodating about the many nearby attractions, it was obvious she cared alot about us getting to know her slice of heaven.
Rainbow Retreat Center lies in a rather remote area off Pahoa. Due to heavy winds large trees fell down and interrupted the power supply. The water pump did not work properly, toilet could not be flushed and Wifi broke down.
People at the premise were very friendly and attentive
A little outdated but met our needs
quiet location with a friendly owner.
If u need to get off the beaten track, you dont mind if the lawns arent manicured and you are happy to feed a stray cat and enjoy company of genuine people , this is a retreat for you. Terri and her team went out of their way to ensure our stay was a fabulous part of our journey to Big Island.
While we were staying there there was lava flow heading straight towards the town of Pahoa so it was a bit nerve racking knowing we were staying in a possible danger zone. Also this place is at least a 10 - 15 mins drive to civilization. There really is nothing within walking distance. The pool was a bit murky so we did not use it. Breakfast was good but the same everyday. One day Terry left someone else in charge and we both found hairs in our papaya boat breakfast which was off putting. There were also small cockroaches in our suite, but that's expected because of the location.
We stayed in the Aloha Suite which had a kitchen and living room area. The location is pretty out there so it's great if you are looking for more of a nature experience. The owner Terry is is great and very hospitable.
This small hotel is in the middle of the beautiful nature, the location is just excellent. We stayed in the Aloha Suite, was clean, the kitchen had everything we needed, the room and bed was comfortable. You can access any attractions easily by car, while you can rest in the night without any disturbing "city" noises. The owner, Terrie is an excellent host and provided an amazing support. She did care of us, recommended many places that the internet do not mention at all: the best snorkelling place, hidden beaches and best place to see the sunset - all of these places show you the real beautify of the Big Island. Every day we had a breakfast, we had never tasted such perfect creation of fruit and yoghurt/cereal before - never the less, it looked gorgeous.
excellent experience of local lifestyle
No taxi service
Coqius (frogs) can be loud during night, but it wasn't a problem for us. We slept very good
Beautiful stay in the middle of the jungle Delicious complementary breakfast Warm hospitality and friendly personnel
Seattle's Best coffee by the coffee maker. Really? We were glad we had brought some fresh Hawaiin coffe with us.
Terry was a wonderful owner. We learned many things about the island from her. She cares very much about her guests. Michelle also did a great job. We hope to go back again and bring our family of 18.
the only point is that it's not easy to find
everything was perfect, looks like a typical hawaiian guest house, excellent breakfast, excellent atmosphere, good vibes
Very nice and helpful staff. Large rooms
Was a long way from the main beach areas on the west coast and a long drive to main attractions I'm bigger cities but I came to enjoy and appreciate the local surroundings as unique and lovely so the trip was still very enjoyable.
The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to see that I had everything I needed and had a good time. The sweet country feel was relaxing and regenerative. I felt completely safe and at home like I was visiting friends.
Great place. very personal touch and wonderful place to stay
The unit was very rustic and had a smell in the entire unit.
