The best thing about this hotel is its excellent location in the heart of where all the actions are, in terms of restaurants, pubs & city shopping. My room was small, felt rather cramped in there. Not much moving space, with a small bathroom & shower space. I guess that's what you get for a heritage building. The oldest lift in the city is still in operations in this hotel, which made getting in & out difficult with luggages in tow. The walls are thin & you hear your neighbours, plus the sound of the nightlife downstairs floating distinctly upwards. |

Hotel seemed bright and airy despite being quite old The very old and slow lift is an interesting peculiarity at first but very quickly begins to annoy you |

Optimal position, rooms a little bit small but clean, staff very gentle and supportative, good valet service with parking at 20$/day. The elevators! They're still the ones of almost one hundred years ago (when they were the fastest of the world) but now they're completely a pain to use, open and operate, especially with baggage (when they work....) |

The old style with modern amenities. Oldy worldly style. Graet roof terrace Shape of room was odd. Windows faced walls but if youre travelling for fun and sightseeing this doesnt have an impact. |

We liked the location of the hotel in the center of the Gaslamp District The noise from the surrounding airconditioners was insufferable. The hotel staff gave us another room facing the street in the middle of the first night. That room was o.k. then. |

Your staff and the location. The 24-hour restaurant was convenient but expensive for the type of food served. It also smelled like old cooking oil similar to a greasy spoon |

We had the nicest thing happen to us. Our Son was coming back from the middle east and the manager saw my proud navy mom t-shirt and upgraded us to a suite. We have never had anything like that happen before and it was magical. I wish I had written down his name to thank him personally. |

I thought the ambiance was lovely. It felt just like what I imagine 1930's San Diego was like. I was really so pleased to stay. No. It was charming. |

Well located for a tourist. Close by are many restaurants and one of the stops for the hop-on hop-off trolley tour, which takes visitors to must-see sights such as Coronado Island and the San Diego zoo. Longer but easy walk to the waterfront, including the Convention Centre. Free shuttle to the airport. |

Convenient Gaslamp Location. Staff and shuttles very nice. Would recommend with warnings about antiquity. Antiquated rooms and elevator. Electrical hookups very outdated and couldn't possibly meet city fire codes. Rooms very small by modern standards. |
