I loved how it was tucked away from the main street. Easy access to city. ..right across the street from the bridge. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Our room was clean, and the bed was super comfortable. I slept like a baby. I would definitely stay here again! !
We were upgraded from a single queen to a double queen with a balcony. The room was very big for two people.
We were given an upgrade and later realized this upgrade was because we couldnt use the main attraction at the hotel.... The roof. We were denied access and room service due to a 'private event' after being told the roof was open 10pm-3am upon checking in. They withheld information intentionally and then threw us a room upgrade to cover it. One couple doesn't need two beds, so we would have preferred to enjoy the roof views of Manhattan.
There's a club/bar/restaurant on top of the roof, during the nights there were often (drunk?) people making quite some noise outside of the hotel.
some personal inreception is not that very approachable. in our stay of 8 nights 3x we habe to wait for shuttle to pick up us on the station minimum of an hour.
Ravel was one of the most inexpensive hotels I could find in New York. Location is good, 15 min drive from Times Square. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
It's extremely noisy in the room. Inside walls are very thin, you can heal all happening outside your room. There are two buildings being constructed nearby. They start working really loud at 9. After they finish, the club located in the hotel starts working. You can hear loud music from upstairs. The room was not really clean. Furniture looks very old.
Friendly staff, peacful place, location is very good
view from upper floors
bad neighborhood far from transportation shuttle is free from 7-10am only in-room wifi is $10 day breakfast is $13.95 per person run down and dirty overpriced for the condition and location
Good hotel with free shuttle bus to local station
The hotel had a rooftop bar which turned into a nightclub on Friday and Saturday nights. It was very difficult to sleep with the very loud music and vibrating walls!
Location was convenient
Rooms had been abused and looked worn. This was a very noisy hotel. The rooftop was more of a club than a bar, guests continued partying through the night in the hotel and traffic noise was an issue.
Free shuttle service to surrounding areas.
- absolutely no insulation for door (forget sleeping in). From inside the room you can hear housekeeping and other guests talking - fly in the room - hair on the bathroom floor - dirty shower door - shower hot/cold labels wrong - people arguing and kicked out at 4:30 am
Great hotel, friendly staff and comfortable room. Fantastic outlook over the water.
The hotel is immediately on the other side of the water from Manhatten, however seems to be in the middle of nowhere with no nearby public transport. The nearest metro stop is a 15 min walk, which didn't feel safe - particularly after dark. They do offer a free shuttle to the nearest station at restricted times, but it wasn't always convienient. Had to pay for wifi in room.
The rooms were spacious inside compared to Manhattan hotels
Some of the clientele are trashy and hang out in the lobby making out, which is understandable when the lounge is open I guess if you're drunk, but it was a Sunday night and closed, so no excuse. I felt the vibe of a cheap motel to bring your score to not a luxury hotel as it claims to be. The rooms are poorly designed with the water seal to the shower doors on the outside so it leaks out. The electrical outlet over the toilet bowl I don't get. Not a four start luxury hotel.
View on roof top bar good
Staff poor price in bar overpriced
The view and the modern decor.
the view, the rooms, friendly stuff, the interior design (beside the old corridors and the broken floor, but its just add twist to the design). for sure a favorite hotel in my next trip to NYC
Friendly staff Shuttle service to subway
Loud party music 3 times per week at night (staff makes you aware of it, but still not very helpful when you want to sleep before 04:00 AM) No buffer for room doors - what results in loud bangs each time a door hits the frame
Location and free shuttle
Mattress too soft No service lift for their staff
The availability of the shuttle bus on call from the station. Free car parking. The rooftop bar/restaurant is an oasis for locals as well as guests, with a spectacular view of Manhattan.
The neighbourhood. But in a few years it will be transformed, including completion of a large extension to the hotel. It's a good walk to the nearest train station, but the half-hour shuttle bus schedule is not inconvenient.
Our room was on the 5th floor with a beautiful view. The staff was quick and courteous.
The bed was sunken in the middle. The bathroom in the room could have been a bit cleaner. Our room consistently smelled like cigarette smoke.
View lovers! This is it! Amazing panorama of Manhattan, if you have a balcony room. Room is great, very well thought through, spacious.
You will need a 10 minutes walk just to get to buy beer or water. The area has nothing, no restaurants, nothing... A taxi ride to/from Manhattan is 25$ or walk 10 minutes to the subway.
Comfort of the bed Room clean
Halls dirty messy, windows looked dirty in the hall (5th floor) lift - very slow and stopped a few times staff, in general not that friendly (few exceptions) noise from upstairs, especially on the Saturday night
The view of the Queens borough Bridge and short walk to subway station. The maids were hospitable and friendly.
The hotel hosts very loud dance club on the roof that makes it impossible to sleep on Fri/Sat/Sun. We complained several times and the music didn't end till 4 a.m every morning which made it impossible to get a good night sleep until the weekend was over. One evening we were stopped by a bouncer representing the rooftop dance club to verify whether we were actual hotel guests or simply attending the rooftop dance club upstairs. At night on the weekend when we returned to the hotel our sidewalk path to the hotel was blocked by the hotel valet that parked vehicles in front of the sidewalk which forced my wife with our baby stroller to walk into the street to obtain passage to our hotel room. We also experienced loud noises early in the morning before normal waking hours as construction crews worked on adjacent rooms/buildings. All of these noises from the construction and the rooftop dance club music commenced while we specifically asked for a quiet room. Upon several days of complaints about the noise we were transitioned to a new room which was promised to be quieter, which it was not (it was bigger though, which was probably intended to silence our complaints) Furthermore, shortly after arriving in the new room we noticed broken glass on the balcony of the room which is a direct safety hazard as our toddler was crawling around on the floor, cut his foot, and was bleeding. In the initial room we were booked we noticed that water was dripping from the light fixture of the ceiling of the shower which is an electrical hazard as well as a safety violation. Furthermore, the fan for the bathroom did not work properly and despite notifying the front desk, they said there was nothing they could do about it since it’s not an actual fan but is connected to an air duct. On the second morning the shower didn’t work and no hot water was provided which required a maintenance crew.
The rooftop bar, lovely view, good food and good cocktails. Also room we stayed in was spacious, clean, and lovely large bed
Other nightlife at least 10 minutes walk away. Rooftop bar (6th floor),fully booked on the Fri & Sat for weddings, & went on to about 4am. Could hear the disco from our 2nd floor room,(no soundproofing). Woken at 2am,4am by wedding guests laughing and yelling in corridors. So, would come again midweek, but no way at weekend, as I understand the hotel often hosts these weekend weddings
Penthouse 808 was great food & view
The staff when I check out was really rude, there was no call for that at all!
The hotel has a night club on the roof which played loud music from midnight to 4 am. The room literally vibrated and the noise was outrageous.
