“ The staff were excellent, the room was amazing. The views from the hotel were breath taking. Hotel was very close, we spent approx 10-20 dollars on taxis to the hotel from where ever we were. The free shuttle that takes you to subways/close restaurants was an excellent service. If we ever come to New York again, which I'm sure we will. We will definitely be staying here. ”

I was upgraded easily when I voiced my disdain about a ground floor room on the street side. The staff at the check-in desk were ungracious and very unwelcoming. There was one young fellow who showed real hospitality but the others seemed inexperienced and inhospitable.

The hotel was really nice and comfy. Service was great George, and the other guy at the front desk were excellent. If I was truly picking at straws I would have to say that the smoking at the front entrance was bad. You have to pass through that cloud of smoke.

Comfortable beds, very nice view and location. Good value over all. The parking lot was supposed to be open by the time we arrived but wasn't, so parking became an issue.

The staff was very helpful Cleanliness of the rooms. I think it's time for an update. They have glass on top of the dressers and while the cleaners may clean the glass, I think from time to time, they take a moment and dust under it because we had so much dust build up in our room. There was mold on the ceilings. The shower door was hanging on loose screws. It takes a quick second just to look things through. While the hotel was nice, it's the little things that also count.

The view from the rooftop bar was brilliant. New york skyline and queensborough bridge, although ruined a little bit by the power plant opposite the hotel. The first room we got put in was horrendous, stains all over the carpet as well as patches of paint. Dust everywhere, dirty marks on walls, awful view of a building site which was on the premises. When we complained we were told that we could get upgraded to a penthouse but at an extra charge of $20 per night, which we excepted but I dont believe we should have had to pay anything considering how disgusting the first room was. We went into the penthouse and straight away we seen a cracked tile on the floor, dirty marks on the walls, one of which looked like food, food stain on one of the stools, dust everywhere, marks on the frosted glass and scruffy furniture with scratches and chips all over. We then got moved into a 3rd and final room after complaining again (and getting huffed at by a staff member) which smelt cleaner, had 2 bathrobes in which the others didn't, and had an overall nicer appearance. However there were still some marks on the walls and the glass and it was a bit dusty and the furniture was still a bit scruffy. The prices of the mini bar are ridiculous, you don't even get free water unless you want to go to the lobby and get some from the front desk into a cheap plastic cup. The quality of the picture on the television was horrendous and you have to pay $10 per day if you want wifi in your room. Overall not happy at all with the hotel and would definately not recommend it or go back in the future.

views of Manhattan skyline from our room (4th floor). Roof top terrace. Food from the Bistro. Nice wine. Free shuttle to Metro. Pillows and beds were very comfy. Roof top terrace was closed off for a private function on our last night and only room service available. Staff were a little arrogant (very New York).

The view the staff the rooms the access to amenities The hotel was great. I read all the reviews on booking.com and I have to say, you get more than your money's worth. Sure the shower leaks, if you have the shower head facing the shower door. If you just turn it towards the opposite side of the shower, all your problems are solved. The cleaning crew never once knocked on my door, they cleaned the surrounding empty rooms, and then snuck in after i was gone. I can't complain about the bass from PH808 because I was on the first floor. I still saw the Manhattan skyline from my window. I have no complaints about that because I didn't come to stare out my window. The surrounding area is not horrible, nor is it the ghetto as others describe it, it's industrial, so the streets are dark, empty, and suspicious at night. Stay on this side of the Queensboro bridge and you will live. The staff is friendly, if you are interested in visiting the roof, there is access to it throughout the day, if you insist on being up there at 1 AM on a saturday there are quite a few hipsters and very loud music. It is a fantastic hotel and I will definitely visit again. Parking on nights when Penthouse 808 was on full club mode was horrendous! I can't express how far we had to park because the entire perimeter of the hotel contained the cars of club goers. I can't completely complain because the new additions and changes being made to the hotel include the parking lot so it is closed for now. For those who complained about receiving parking tickets, park with common sense and read all signs within 10 feet of where you are considering to park. Directly in front of the hotel is ok to park and on the side (close to the water and skyline view) parking is okay 24/7. Don't park in front of gates, bay doors, or the businesses on the opposite side of the hotel. If you parked there and ignored the signs you deserved that ticket.

The shuttle option. Room was drafty, furnishings old and dirty, appearance of room was okay but the furniture and layout was not functionally appealing, hard to shave in sink with mirror on the side, very small table and to stools were useless, chaise with straight back was very uncomfortable. Staff not overly friendly and did not bother to acknowledge when you walked in or up to desk.
