We stayed at Red Coach Motor Lodge as part of our road trip honeymoon in August 2014. We cannot fault the hotel and its staff for being exactly what we needed: a centrally located, friendly and comfortable place from which to base our exploration of the city. It is clean and comfortable, and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We were travelling in an over-size vehicle, which they made sure they could accommodate. Compared to many other prices we were quoted in the city, this one was spot on. Make sure you book in advance. Highly recommended.

There for a monthly med spa appointment so price was important. Very clean and quiet. Not the best location but still able to walk. Staff was very friendly.

No in room coffee. Bed pillows are the smallest I've ever seen, and there is only one per person. Close to Tenderloin so you must be familiar with the area to know how to walk around the bad parts.

Very friendly and great position to explore city. Next to an area with many homeless but easy to walk to all the sights without using these streets. Lovely, large, clean room. Owners very welcoming and helpful with plenty advice on where to go.

Some noise from vehicles at night - but it is in a city.

the area it is in, is not the best of SF

rooms were clean, staff was friendly, we felt safe inside the motel even though it's located in the Tenderloin, the parking lot is also secured

wouldn't walk around this neighbourhood alone (not even with my husband) - Tenderloin is really dangerous but it didn't influence our stay - the motel is well secured and close to the bus stops.

Jane is very friendly and of our suitcases was missing at the airport and Jane made sure that we received it. The rooms are simple, but very spacious and clean. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and family.

The neighbourhood is a bit rough, but actually you can easily avoid the unsafe streets.

Excellent value for the money. Clean and quiet despite location in an area full of bums.

    WiFi didn't work at all.

    room was clean; secure bldg

no one at the front desk when I checked in; door locked, had to go find someone; annoying dog ran out of the laundry room and was barking at my heels; manager made no attempt to call the dog off; manager/front desk person (older Asian woman) was borderline rude/offensive; asked intrusive personal questions during check in (e.g. why I wanted an early check in, questioned address on my DL).

Big rooms, great bed, clean bathroom. If u want to spend a night it is a good choice for its price.

Location is bad but you could avoid sketchy streets. If u have a long stay in San Fran maybe better to book in a nicer area.

The owners were very friendly and gave lots of good advice. They take their time to answer your questions, give recommendations and explain things. Airport shuttle from hotel to airport was possible. Free wifi Parking spots on site. Since we spent our last night/day there, we had to bring our rental car back and we could leave the luggage at the hotel even though we already checked out. Very clean and big rooms, nice atmosphere in them. Even though some people worry about the neighbourhood, I felt completely at ease. There are homeless people in the whole of San Fran, whether you stay at the Hilton or wherever, you won't avoid them completely. The owner told us which streets to avoid and when you stick to that there is no problem. I also liked the walking distance to local coffee shops, restaurants, bus stops/ tram stops. I would definitely come here again.

Nothing, we really enjoyed our stay.

immaculately clean room, well-maintained for basic lodging. nice amenities. good coffee shop around the corner, central location. good free wifi. free parking, property is kept secure by a system of buzzing people in from the parking lot. very friendly & helpful staff.

very loud area. i did not feel unsafe, but there is lots of street yelling/arguing from the locals at all hours. bring earplugs.

This hotel surpassed my expectations.Checking in was easy, the hotel staff were extremely nice and helpful.Oh and very secured. You have to buzz in with your name and room number to get in.The room I had was clean and the bathroom was fully stocked.I definitely would recommend staying here.Yes the hotel is located in the Tenderloin but it is an improvement over where I used to stay...on Jones St.You have a KFC across the street,a Walgreens a block over and Burger King not too far.

The only thing I didn't like was the walking distance. This is farther past Jones St so it's better to take bus transportation from the Caltrain station where I came from.

The hotel is close to mass transit and restaurants. All you have to do is park your car and enjoy the city. The security makes you feel very safe. When we go to the city we do not spend time in our hotel room. For this reason this is the place at frequently. Great value.

There was nothing I disliked. It is a very clean and a great value. One suggestion would be that the heater be hooked up prior to guests arriving.

Everything was OK, location and parking were very convenient. Rooms were really nice.

We didn't manage to get the wifi work on our computer and the staff didn't help. They proposed to offer their own computer if we had something important, which was nice but a bit annoying.

Very friendly, helpful staff. Nice TV. Sliding door to balcony, fresh air, and neighborhood view. Free self parking, undercover, and watched (at least part-time). Good Arabic pizza place open until 3 am, a few doors away.

Many emergency vehicle sirens between 7 pm and midnight. Told it was not safe to walk in the area at night. No coffee in the morning.

The stuff was very helpful, giving us all the necessary information. The presence of homeless people was less than announced by the other visitors. Good location at the aaceptable price. Perfect restaurant Tommy's Joynt in the neighbourhood.

The room was a bit used, not perfectly clean, but better than outside the room. Not equipped by coffee maker and fridge.

Very helpful staff, who gave answers and practical help. (Eg no coffee facilities in room. I mentioned it to the lady on reception and a kettle appeared with cups. Thank you!) Car parking Brenda's for breakfast

Location a bit "different" - just ask for advice. We generally walked and used one late night taxi.
