Score from 468 reviews Very good
It was exactly like i read in past reviews. Quaint, middle of the city, and confortable enough for a short trip. Also i liked the fact we had to be buzzed in to get into the hotel.
location was a little sketchy but im tough. And i wish the ac worked it was a bit stuffy.
Free parking (otherwise will cost you 30$ per day in SF). Close to center Staff very friendly and helpful. Big room, quiet: best pick is probably room 358 (windows on an alley and not on the main street). Only drawback wifi does not work well in the room.
Lots of homeless in the neighborhood but they don't bother you. Some rooms are really noisy (ask to change if to noisy) No hairdryer
The main reason we stayed here was the price, as we had been travelling across the US. We found it very affordable, and although the room was basic, it had exactly what we needed after a full days sighteeing. The bed was very comfortable and the room clean. The WiFi was good. There are security cameras and a CCTV/buzzed entry system (the need for which is obvious on arrival!) which made you feel better about staying in the area. The carpark was a bit tight, so nervous drivers/parkers might not enjoy it, but it was free and very useful as we left the car there for the whole week! The hotel is close to the bus and tram stops which take you right down to Fisherman's Wharf. As SF is so compact it is easy to get from the hotel to many places, either on foot or using the buses for short journeys.
The area - though the location was fine (close to bus and tram stops, shops etc) the neighbourhood was not the nicest. There were many, many tramps around the hotel, and eventhough the lovely staff told us where to avoid, it still didnt feel 100% safe, until you entered the hotel. The area was also qute noisy at night, especially with sirens, which seemed to go every night.
While the tenderloin is sketchy, this hotel is a total gem. Perfect for catching a show at American music hall. The hotel has parking which is a huge plus in San fran. The outside looks a bit shabby but once you walk into your room it is an oasis of calm. Beautiful big clean bed, nice features, and surprisingly nice. Great value for the money and the staff is this sweet little family, plus there is a cute little doggy named boomer to greet you in the office. Surprisingly great place.
Front desk staff is friendly and accommodating, free parking, clean premises, secure and restricted entrance to room levels, but especially extra clean room with crisp clean sheets, pillows and towels that were actually absorbent. Shower, sink, toilet and floors were immaculate in spite of dated design. We definitely are returning to this best kept secret we accidentally discovered!
Hotel on corner so you hear street noise but after a long day in the city, you sleep through it!
The hotel has character and a personality of its own. It is not your luxury hotel...but it is cute in its timeworn way...and it is right across the street from Brenda's French Soul food Cafe which is awesome.
It is very noisy.
Staff, cleanliness, spaciousness
Noise from slamming doors all night
Friendly helpful staff
No coffee making facility and if u needed to access your vehicle u needed to get staff to open up garage
huge room near to busy street but still quiet room great wifi clean
very loud in the corner location isnt so much nice
Great location with free parking in the heart of the city. Walking distance to SF jazz, opera, symphony & many bars & clubs. Not far from Union square.
Street noise can be annoying.
The staff were nice, the room was big, comfortable and clean. It was definitely better than I had expected. Although it's on a busy road I couldn't hear much traffic noise. Overall a good stay. A lot of dining options nearby.
The shower in our room needed to be fixed because it was not working well at all. The area isn't in the nicest neighbourhood.
Run by a friendly and helpful lady who offers good info on city with maps. Fast food, supermarket bottleshop and restuarnatall within a 3 min walk (KFC opposite) and other places, Rooms are big and with balcony. Parking car in secured area was great. Walking to waterfront was say 30 -40 mins The area has it's fair share of homeless, but they keep to themselves,I was not concerned about them .
No Aircon would be hot in summer. No mircowave or coffee. Hotel has ice machine and esky to keep the beers chilled. No bfast but fastfood just around the corner .
Central location, friendly informative staff. Free on site parking. Close to bus stop for fisherman's wharf etc.
No coffee making facilities in room Quite noisy outside property, sirens from emergency vehicles, lorries.
Very good location.
No ice maker;
Has parking space, walking distance to Bart (civic center). the staff was helpful and friendly, and there is a nice coffee place half block away the room and the bathroom were spacious
the tenderloin can be sketchy at night
Safety is first in this Hotel. Administration takes very serious this issue. Nobody enter hotel without ID photo. Entrance to room is controlled by monitors. Bed clothes are very clean. They smell so clean. You sleep in heaven. This is a budget oriented hotel. All amenities are around you. Hotel is run by Mrs. Jane and her family. They treat you like a king. You can ask all question, they will help you. Parking is free. With surveillance cameras. Very safe place and cheap. A great value!!!!!!!!!
Hotel is close to the road. You can hear noises. But after one night, you hear nothing.
the staff were really unhelpful and unfriendly! The security protocols they follow are supremely strict with no need for that! No air-conditioning! We had to open the window to the extreme street noise outside! Two awful sleepless nights. Super expensive And really doesn't worth it!
No refrigerator. No air conditioner.
Staffs are nice and helpful Rooms are big and facilities are OK to support the accomodation
The area around is not safe
Location, quiet, clean.
Kind of hard to park in some spaces
Just what you can expect for the price, and the location is pretty good as it's close to other places of interest.
The area might feel unsafe if you're not used to it.
Hotel staff was extremely nice and give as instructions how to explore the place.
Helpful, knowledgable front desk staff. Great location for accessing San Francisco. Clean, comfortable room. Secure off road parking. Free parking. Great value.
- very clean location, close to downtown and very well connected to the rest of the sights (2 minutes to the bus station) - very helpful staff - parking on premises
Very nice staff and helpfull
