This is not what you'd expect of a Red Lion. It clearly used to be some other motel- 60's or 70's style with open air walkways and doorways. And the outside is really dirty- there's a black carpet that runs the length of the outdoor hallway floors and it is covered in dirt, grime, human hair, etc. If you touch a hand railing, you will be covered in dust and dirt. It is a terrible first impression! This place needs a pressure wash!!! It makes you feel like the inside of the rooms must be dirty too… though I didn't see any evidence of that.
The location saves this place! You're half a block to Main Street and all the cute tasting rooms, shops, and restaurants. Safeway is across the street, kitty-corner from one end of the hotel. Very close to Whitman. We got a room with a private enclosed balcony on the second floor- this gave my husband a safe place to store his bike, which was a pleasant surprise. The rooms are updated and sufficient. Also glad to have a mini-fridge in the room. Its a place to crash- not necessarily a place to lounge and enjoy a glass of wine.
The TV sucked which was important since we were trying to watch the NCAA final four games. The rooms are outdated and made of painted cinder blocks.
The room was inexpensive and in a good location downtown. Walking distance to many wineries and places to eat.
The only window in our room was the big wall window sliding door that faced the courtyard pool and outside sidewalk thing. Although we felt perfectly safe, we couldn't leave the light blocking curtains open while changing (obviously) or just sitting watching TV without risking an awkward moment with another guest passing by outside. So if you need natural light all the time, ask for a room with a window facing outward (if they have one).
We were there for a sporting event my boyfriend was participating in. The red lion was close to the playing fields for him and close to wine tasting rooms for me. While I felt it was a little overpriced, the red lion is a good step above bargain motels but not as fancy or expensive as the local historical hotels. Very dog friendly and the staff was super helpful and friendly.
Had very late arrival and were sent to a room that hadn't been cleaned, eventually got a cleaned room. It didn't have a luggage rack and was told they didn't have any extras, seemed odd to us.
Great central location, easy to walk to great food establishments and shopping. Good breakfast.
The showers were cold both days and it was very noisy.
Furnishings were beautiful and it was close to restaurants.
was an older building
price, free wi-if
My daughter wasn't able to connect to your wi-fi.
Room was small and some maintenance issues with entry door and switch on lamps.
Desk Clerk was great!!! Good Breakfast (really liked French Toast and bacon on Saturday)
Nice clean good value
Staff was very friendly a helpful. The facilities are clean and well maintained. Good value for the money.
I didn't like the noise of neighbors upstairs
I like the location very much and the beds are comfortable.
The refrigerator needed defrosting and didn't keep anything really cold. The t.v. had some sort of portable device taped to top of it that we had to point the remote toward to get service - very poor setup. The heating was difficult to control and not have cycle on and off all night - noisy.
The staff on all shifts were very concerned with providing us with whatever would make our stay comfortable/enjoyable.
I liked that every staff member I came across said hello or some type of greeting! Thank you for making my dog,Kona, and I very comfortable! I come and visit quite a bit! So I will be back!
Good location, easy walking distance to downtown for restaurants and tasting rooms. Lots to see and do.
The room design, layout and balcony are marvelous. The park and pool are situated so that every room can take advantage of them. And a good breakfast....obviously we enjoyed it!
The fridge was missing in our room, the fan in the bathroom did not work making the room smell very musty, the toilet smelled, the beds were soft like a hammock, the room was small and surrounded by painted cinder block walls.
High definition tv, sausage rolls and egg with cheese omlettes at breakfast, 100% cotton sheets.
Exterior room entry from parking lot is a bit shabby and needs cleaning up, giving a second impression of questionable upkeep. Exterior door entries need to be cleaned up. But once inside the room, all that fades.
Great location for visiting Whitman College, Nice room and very clean with adequate space to be comfortable. Nice flat screen TV and good WiFi. Very good breakfast!
simple room with all the amenities that you need for a one night stay in the center of Walla Walla. comfortable for that price. eco soaps and all was very clean.
Our bookings.com reservation for a king room was not the room we received when we arrived. Were told that this happens frequently. We ended up in a small, queen room, rather than a king room that we had reserved. Probably would have stayed elsewhere at that price if we had known this in advance.
Staff was friendly, room was clean, pool area was nice.
Smoke alarm went off all night the first night, second day the room was not cleaned, no towels, coffee or the bed touched.
would have loved a second comfy chair or couch color scheme strange, but refurbishing is underway
location (near restaurants, bakery, tasting rooms, everything), price, bed comfort
The rooms were diamond shape so it gave you more space and your own balcony or back patio. This really made it seem like you had more privacy.
The block walls; Dirt in sliding doors
The sliding door was original and needs to be replaced. It was extremely hard to operate. The refrigerator froze anything in there. The pool needed a cleaning.
Beds are comfortable. Good value. Refrigerator and microwave.
