Good location for using the public transit system, there are street people in the area but they did not bother us in our walks in the area around the hotel. The street people would put some people off.

Location to public transportation is excellent - great neighborhood breakfast, lunch & dinner choices - vibrant nightlife within walking distance to suit most any entertainment taste, farmers market 1 block away - neighborhood is true slice of city life with a convergance of many social demographics - stay smart & aware - homeless population is manageable, drug dealers are relatively low key Thin walls (however, earplugs readily available in room), broken radio

Checking out and leaving. The high volume of drunkards and drug dealers outside of the hotel. The San Franscico Fire Department knocking on the door at 2am who we thought were drunkards as the fire alarm didn't work in our room. Followed by the sirens then the realisation that there were 3 fire engines outside of the hotel. Then the smoke in the corridoor, the wait in the lobby, the being told it was someone letting off a fire extinguisher and finally the walk back through the dry powder filled corridoor back to the room. The morning wasn't much better with the drunks singing at 7am and a seagull head butting the window. Overall it was the worst place I have ever stayed at and with no parking it is a rip-off. The hotel was probably nice 40 years ago when that part of the neighbourhood was nice. Go further north nearer Fishermans Wharf to a place with free parking.

Not much. No air conditioning, 19 inch tv, and everytime someone shut the door it made the room shake.

Staff was nice and friendly. It's not in the best neighborhood but it is on Market and there are interesting things just a few blocks away. Housekeeping was good. Everything extra cost something extra (to be expected from a two-star hotel). The elevators were slow, and one of the two was out of order the whole week. Also when I asked them to reserve a taxi for me, they reserved a more expensive limousine and did not tell me how much this will cost up front.

Within walking distance to Union Square, clean rooms, staff were friendly, but not all that helpful. Right on the main road, very noisy, especially at night... Sirens and people screaming. Seedy area, we were 2 females travelling, and we didnt wanna go out after dark here.... Bit scary. No airconditioning & no wifi :(

It was an old hotel with lots of character. Felt old-timey! The neighborhood was a little scary. Not terrible, just a little.

Close to Gay Pride venue, other than that, don't stay there! It is a tired, tired hotel that could be fab with a makeover. Safe and bedside table lamp broken, one lift constantly broken, paltry excuse for tea and coffee machine in the lobby broken. Could be awesome, but needs a good clean and some new life breathed into it. And... There was a shooting outside our hotel on account of the homeless and disenfranchised folk who hang out nearby.

The carpet was new and very cool looking. The bathroom was clean and vintage- ish. Can't beat the close proximity right on Market St. There was some bums hanging around late at night when my wife and I got back to the hotel. Nothing too scary, just a little sketchy

We were very disappointed in the noise outside, the unsafe feeling of the neighborhood, and the lack of air conditioning. We will not choose this hotel again and will not recommend it to others. The staff was very gracious however.
