I liked the style of the hotel, service and the front desk, the comfortable bed, and the deal on the room. Overall a very pleasant experience, completely accommodating for a late check out and good recommendations for local places to eat. The area was a bit sketchy at night, and it would have been nice to have extra towels and more than one pillow each. Also a guide to local cuisine in the room so that we didn't have to call the front desk would have saved us and them time.

Staff were great. Very attentive to our needs and remembered our names. I hope the all get hired by a hotel who values customer service when you close for renovations. People hanging around outside at night. Noise from fights and emergency vehicles at might. Elevators not working.

San Francisco. It was HORRIBLE!! The room was small, outdated and noisy. In the middle of the night the police came to temporarily solve a disturbance (a fight about money and a gun) next door. We felt absolutely UNSAFE! When inquiring the reception about the incident, he first pretended not to know about it and then got extremely rude and offensive. This was the worst hotel-experience. Also the one working elevator was very slow.

Good price, and the room was quite clean, and beds comfortable. The sheets were clean too. The building has an early 20th charm with high ceilings. As expected, the neibourhood around 7th street is 7th street. Better return to the hotel before dark, or take a taxi back to the entrance of the hotel which is located on the other side of Market St. Know which streets to avoid, and you shouldn't have problems.

Nice café in-hotel were you can buy breakfast. No microwave and no refrigeration. Car took 45 minutes instead of 15-20 minutes to come back from valet parking and we still had to pay the full price. Were quite rude to my spouse.

The staff were really helpful on the front counter. The amount of bums and drug addict s around the hotel just made u worry about going out side. And the cost of having a car at the hotel was a little on pricy side.

The beds and bedding were comfortable, everything worked fine, and the staff was very friendly. My window didn't close all of the way, and there wasn't free internet in the rooms.

I was impressed with Crystal's professional attitude and knowledge of her position. She really took ownership. There was another man working with her who I had noticed, worked very hard to keep everyone happy! Now, I know there are a lot of bad reviews on the hotel, however, I have/had chosen so ignore them! I love the homey feeling I got when entering in the hotel. The rooms were old however, like in "old school" rather. I loved it! It took me back when I was a little girl staying with my Aunt in the City! It was very clean!! I loved that too! Btw the amenities were awesome! Hey? I know the hotel's in the Tenderloin, let me give you a word of advise, if I may! People sometimes don't have a choice about their current situation... People that surround that area may be homeless, but they're human beings like me and you! They smile, they cry, they feel... Etc. I'd rather walk on streets at night in the Tenderloin, than walk in the daylight around folks who choose to drink smoke and act out of line! (I say that because the S.F. Giants World Series Parade was crazy! People doing bad stuff they shouldn't! Just saying! They're a few things that need tender loving care; ie, servicing the elevator, change the music at the lobby; go for something that fits the atmosphere of the hotel... It just works! You may want to consider replacing the old wood that surrounds the window pains for new ones...DON'T Change anything; keep it real... The curtains totally need updating... Fyi, the rooms really don't need all that furniture in them unless there are people who stay awhile, more than a day or two... Best regards...

Nice staff. Parking is convenient. Location is close to union square. It's a little loud because we were in 2nd floor and face the street. There're some drunk people in the street at 2:00am making some noise.

The night attendent did the best she could at a poorly managed hotel. The bell boys did a great job, and the maids as well. The reception area looked nice. The hotel is in a very shady area. The management is trying to cover that fact up for guests, and the people working the front desk at day time are assuring that the area is safe. The receptionist( asian looking lady) working day time, should not be working in the service profession. Overheard several other guests who didnt get their extra bed, etc. We were booked into a room with only one bed. Then they were "kind" enough to book us into a room with two twin beds(not queen,as we ordered). Only one elevator was working, and it was slow. Its better then sleeping on the street, but just about that... Poor security. They should have key access in the elevator and the front door.

Very accommodating staff when booking.com sent me there after initial hotel (Golden Gate Hall) refused to honor my reservation. Great location, comfortable room, very clean. One of the 2 elevators was not working, making for longer waits. They were having problems with the wifi service.

The historic building was old and attractively designed. The bedsheets weren't fitted over the mattress and were too easily disturbed.
