This elegant hotel is in the historic Ames building in downtown Boston, 2 miles from the Back Bay area. It features a 24-hour fitness center. Cable TV and a minibar are found in all rooms at the Ames....

Great location, excellent staff, very nice comfortable room, and great breakfast. Would definitely stay here again!
nice, big, comfortable rooms, rich breakfast, nice gym and pool.
room service was rather SLOW; we stayed for 3 nights. They didnt manage to tidy up our room.
Great hotel. Our room was clean, and well decorated. The staff was very accommodating. We had requested a high floor and were supposed to have a "city view". We were initially put in a room on the third floor. The view was literally the neighboring building only. I called and was instantly put in a room on the seventh floor, which was much better.
The hotels website touts a pool and a hot tub... We had a long, stressful drive through snow and ice. We were so looking forward to the hot tub. I chose this location in part because they had a pool and hot tub. To our dismay, there is NO hot tub at all. The pool is on the top floor and is very small in size as well... When we asked the bar tender at the adjacent bar area where the hot tub was, we were told that there wasn't one, but the "pool is pretty warm". Apparently many people are disappointed when they see the pool area. I double checked the website, and it lists a hot tub for sure. I felt as though the advertisement was deceptive.
Great location, neat clean
Lights above bathroom sink didn't work
Free breakfast and free wifi. Good location for our purposes.
The location of the hotel was great. It was right down the road from Fenway and close to various bars/restaurants (Chipotle, Burger King, Tasty Burger, Bertuccis, various local places), supermarkets, etc. The staff was super friendly and helpful when we checked in and throughout our stay (3 days). The 8th floor had a pool and outdoor viewing area. I really like the kitchen area. Though we didn't use the stove top, we were able to buy snacks/drinks from the supermarket around the corner and store them in the fridge. The Prudential Mall was about a 10 minute walk which my boyfriend and I didn't mind. You can always take a cab, we walked because we didn't want to move our car.
The price for parking was steep ($42) but there are other parking garages close by and some street parking.
The staff was very helpful professional, pleasant, and informative.
Kitchen, comfortable and easy internet.
Less choice for breakfast at the end of period.
The friendly staff, the clean comfortable rooms, the decor and layout of the hotel itself. And the sound-proofing was excellent: it was New Years Eve and it was clear from the lobby and lifts that there were lots of revellers, but we weren't disturbed at all.
Although the choice at breakfast was better than the other US hotels we stayed at, it was still disappointing. Too much sugar in most of what was on offer and too much waste. Disposable crockery, plates and cups: an environmental nightmare.
Clean modern facilities. Friendly staff. Will go again!
$42 parking...but its Boston.
The location was excellent for my travel needs.
Slowness of the maid service. I left the room at 10:00 am and got back at 3:30 pm but the maid service did not get to my room.
From the moment we arrived the staff was out going and friendly and we were always greeted with smiles. It truly seems like all the employees really enjoy working there and that's refreshing to see in a hospitality business that often doesn't reflect that.
Loud music from the bar next door....but granted it was a Saturday night.
the room was stylish and comfortable. the complimentary breakfast was above average. the location was great, close to a lot of restaurants and shops. although the mattress was a bit too firm for me, the bedding was really nice.
paying almost 90 bucks to park my car through the valet service for 2 days was awful. there was a stylish full kitchen but no oven! i'd scrap the dishwasher for an oven any day... several aspects of the kitchen were a little grimy. the overhead light in the kitchen was burnt out.
I booked it as 4 star hotel but being told by the hotel reception(Megan) that it is 3 stars accommodation with kitchen and not a 4 star hotel. She told me that I had been misled by booking.com. It was not worth paying approximately $400 (US dollars) per day. I would be very careful for future booking through Booking.com.
enjoyed size of room. Great location.
Two of us didn't need a suite but we enjoyed having a couch to sit on and loads of room. I would have preferred to have paid less for less space.
lots of bar type restaurants in the neighbourhood but no fine dining.
Staff at reception helpful and friendly, room clean and spacious, and wifi excellent - free, fast and worked on multiple devices.
Hotel has a budget feel - only paper cups and plastic glasses for breakfast (although food selection good). I don't mind budget if I am paying a budget price but not if I am paying over $1700 for 4 nights.
Location was perfect for us Rooms very clean Breakfast offerings were good Staff was great - easy check in and out
Valet parking at $42/day is a bit high. Would have liked to have left the car at the hotel, but the $20 range is more reasonable. Nothing else to complain about.
At 730am there was an evacuation of the hotel due to a water main break. My friend and I left because our whole hallway was flooding and knew we wouldn't get back in the room. Wish I asked for my money back.
So close to Fenway and a quick jog to the Charles River. The room was very comfortable with a great kitchenette. Great value for the normally high priced Boston area.
Price and free breakfast
Valet parking fee
Everything nice. The crew, the breakfast (great!), the bed, location. Nothing to complain.
Quiet hotel with an excellent staff!Loved the location and easy access to Fenway Park. The roof top bar was a great place to take in the view and relax.
a bit overpriced
Lovely big clean room, friendly staff, fabulous breakfasts, well equipped gym, and gorgeous comfy bed with top quality sheets, perfect for sleeping off the jet lag after travelling from Australia!
The location was a little further from the centre of the city than we thought but it was a lovely walk along Newbury Street to The Common. The free wifi was pretty slow and we had to pay extra to upgrade to a faster service.
Quiet hotel. Easy access to Fenway and to the trolley pick up point. We went for baseball.
not a lot of good shopping close by other than the Marshall's right across the street.
