We loved every part of our stay at the Residence inn. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the rooms are large and very comfortable. The bathroom was a great size and very clean, and I loved the bed! We felt very at home there and will definitely be staying there again!

Rude managers who have no actual authority,just repeating ...its our policy,theres nothing we can do. They locked me out of my room halfway thru my stay because the credit card/cash situation.They would not accept cash at check in,they suggested i walk around the corner to cvs and put the cash on a prepaid visa and pay with that.The next evening I went out and upon returning i had been locked out and the manager on duty not only accepted cash,but escorted me to my room with a security guard in order to secure my cash.I guess their policy on accepting cash can be adjusted,but only if you owe them(for taxes and parking mind you,the rest was paid for with the prepaid card $400. i had to pay them $260 in cash at 3:45 a.m. in order to be allowed back into my room. I have never been treated so poorly by a hotel,and i have stayed at many many hotels.I will never stay at a Marriott hotel ever again and i am actively discouraging anyone who will listen to my story to boycott not only that residence inn,but any Marriott owned hotel.
Thanks to Marriott - both in NY and Chicago for making my stay so easy, comfortable and welcoming. The 3 different rooms I had with 2 Marriott Hotels were amazing - didn't even have to go to any other building to get a view - I already had one that was wonderful. Highly recommended Hotel Group. Didn't have an airport shuttle bus which would have been handy - but they can arrange shuttles for you. And that's all.

Price but it was less than most of the others....Down town Chicago is just plain expensive.
Location, kind people working, the meal was great, it was our first time in the city. If we go back we would stay at the same place.
Close to everything downtown and a short walk to the redline to head up north. Really was the best price of all hotels downtown and the room was huge.
Our room was right next to a parking garage.
Excellent location, central to everything, we walked most places and when we were going a little further afield then Neil, the Concierge was very helpful in giving us direction, getting taxis etc.. We did have a room on the higher floor so got a good view of the Hancock tower and other buildings nearby and weren't at all bothered by street noise. Breakfast was really good (apart from the timings) and, even on labour day weekend, we always found a seat. Having said that, you could always take up to your room as others have said. All of the staff, without exception, were extremely friendly and helpful. We paid extra for a larger room as we were staying over a week and our room was a very good size for a central city location. Would definitely stay here again.
Breakfast times a bit limited on weekdays (finish at 9am) but if you're staying more than a day you could always stock up from previous day and keep it in the fridge!
Housekeeping and staff excellent and location of hotel very, very good. Decent value for a downtown hotel.
The sofa bed was rather uncomfortable even for a sofa bed. Wish there was a door , curtain or partition separating the sink area from the bedroom- if one person wants to get up and brush teeth etc you have to turn on lights full blast which is annoying for the sleeping party.
All the staff were so friendly and helpful which must mean very good management. Everything was spotlessly clean.
We had a great room with a wonderful view! The breakfast was phenomenal, staff was exceptional.
The only thing that comes to mind is that there wasn't an airport shuttle but it wasn't really an issue...

Perfect location, close to everything, and a very friendly staff. The room was large, clean and were fine for our needs.
The view was terrible - right under the a/c units for that building and the building next door. Was fine, as we did not spend much time in our room at all.

Staff we spoke with tried to help, but it was clear the corporate policy supports overbooking and the general manager never called me back,
We were traveling with friends that have a one year old baby. I booked both rooms on my credit card and checked in at 7pm. I let the hotel know my friends flight was delayed and they would be arriving at 1am and we wanted to be on the same floor. The hotel agreed they would try. Come 1:45am when their plane finally lands and they attempt to check into the hotel, I get a call the hotel is sold out and they had given my friends room away. Confused and shocked since I had explicitly told the hotel they were arriving late, they explained they overbook often and this was not the first person with a reservation turned away. Finally at 3am they were settled into a hotel close. The hotel tried to make amends but in the end there is nothing more valuable than time, and we were so exhausted then next day and had to coordinate my friends 11am check out and 3pm check in, it really ruined our weekend in Chicago. What we finally got was fine but at great aggravation. I was underwhelmed by the lack of the general managers concern on making things right. I am a Marriott rewards member, but I will not stay at this chain again. I expect that a brand as supposedly reputable as the Marriott would honor a reservation and not give away a room. Very disappointed. If you stay here, not a bad place,must know your room is not guaranteed.

-The beds are horribly uncomfortable, the pillows were paper thin and there was hardly any bedding, had that damp hotel feeling -The front desk staff was nice, but were completely oblivious to the area in terms of recommending restaurants or places to go -Large groups of families clogged the lobby areas -Slightly outdated interior Very slow elevators (waiting up to 10 minutes)

Must say I don't normally write reviews but these guys deserve one. The staff here was hands down the most helpful, insightful, and friendly I've ever encountered anywhere. I feel like they would have jumped in front of a car to get me a cab or whatever else we needed. They stored our bikes for us even after we checked out and helped load them in the rain! Special thanks goes out to Omar, the black bellman with the thick accent, and the skinny bald guy at the desk. Service is their specialty!
Room could of been bigger but we checked in late so it was prolly the only one they had left.
