Score from 943 reviews Very good
limited facilities ie no gym, swimming pool, restaurant on site, coffee only till 10:30. little bit noisy - next room had TV on the bedhead wall of my room.
Excellent staff and the location is amazing if you like to shop. Our exercise at home consists of walking the dog, but in San Francisco you can walk for miles if you want to. This hotel is about a block from the best stores. Oh, they also allowed us to check in early and offered to store our bags after checkout.
When we arrived the room was very musty. We turned the window air conditioner on high and went for a walk. The smell had dissipated when we returned. This is more of a European hotel. Don't expect sleek surfaces and fancy showers. If you need a clean comfortable place to return to after exploring San Francisco, this is a great place.
Iluminação do quarto, banho com pouca água
Bit pricey when you include the tax
Library Bar was excellent, rooms were clean and comfortable, building was quiet, staff was extremely kind and helpful!
The view wasn't great, and the rooms were a bit warm, but no big issues here. This place is great.
-Friendly and helpful staff. - Close to Union Square, Powell Street cable cars, China Town, shopping. -Retro 1930's Literary Intellectual / Bohemia style. - Friday night singer songwriter live performance
The property is tired and needs to be freshened up. Bathrooms are clean, fixtures are mediocre. Noisy air conditioner (remedied by helpful staff who moved us to a new room).
The decor was unique, styled for early 1940's. Close to union square shops. Breakfast was good value and convenient. Complimentary wine in a relaxed atmosphere for happy hour was a winner. Sustainability effort to save water/laundry, they give you $5 to spend at theirbar for no housekeeping per day.
no coffee/tea maker, fridge in room, just expensive wines. Room was very dark, small window into light shaft, and a bit small for a few days stay.
The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. The location was convenient and the hotel had a lot of character. We enjoyed the free glass of wine at the end of the day in the Library bar.
There was only one elevator which was a bit slow to come at times but wasn't a major inconvenience.
When we were staying there was an unpleasant smell threw out the Hotel which other guest noted.
Hotel in great spot for access to Union Square. Staff helpful and very friendly. Clean with great décor throughout. Our room nice and quiet too. Spent one evening in bar which was relaxed and comfortable with great food and wine
Clean, quite, good light in the room, nice decoration just like a warm welcoming home.
wifi access worked very well.
small room size - felt like bed took up too much of the room.
Location, decor, staff were lovely
Air conditioning was old fashioned and sounded like a small aircraft. Without it however the room was like an oven and we didn't sleep well
Room was excellent acknowledged that we were there for a birthday left card and champagne but we were on the front of the building was very noisy but the room was lovely
Convenient location Kind and professional staff Nice bar
Small room A bit noisy outside
The customer Service, the girl "Gitanjali",she had resolved the mistake that she made into my credit card even it took longer time ...but overall she provide an excellent services. Location is excellent, close to main attraction of SF.
There was no breakfast included. And no hot water in a room,so everytime need to go down asking for hot water. No shower cap provided.
Friendly staff, Old world charm
Interiors not fresh, dated, overpriced for what is on offer
Decor Staff Location Valet
Small Bathroom Slow small lift
Because we were celebrating an anniversary the staff upgraded us to a junior suite, which was very nicely appointed. The bed was very comfortable and the view was beautiful overlooking a small courtyard. The hotel was only 2 blocks from the trolley system so we were able to get around very easily.
The A/C didn't keep the room as cool as we would have liked, but it did work.
Well situated near Union Square. A great atmosphere in this hotel.Interesting decor. I kept thinking I was at my Gran's place.Retro without being too cutsey. Not a place for those who like the bland soulless chains.
Room a bit small, but was adequate and much more interesting than usual.
You never know what you're getting with a big city hotel. The Hotel Rex was impeccably clean, decorated in a pleasing, "anthropologie catalogue" kind of way and I never heard a sound at night while I was sleeping.
Continually being kicked off the Wifi and having to log back on several times in an hour. Became tiresome, but this is a minor flaw.
No coffee in suite
Staff bent backwards for all needs. Free morning coffee. Free wine late afternoons. Clean rooms. Old-fashioned 1920s atmosphere. Good lobby to sit in surrounded by books.
Room TV monitor placed in awkward position to view it. It was to the side of the bed instead of at the foot of it.
Great central location. Free tea and coffee in the morning.
location, just 2 minutes walk to cable car station and 5 minutes away from Union Square. Room and bathroom very clean. If you get a room with a street view you get a glimpse of the skyline. Wi-fi is ok .
no breakfast on weekends ??? this is strange...but also not a big problem as you get several different options very close by ...AC was not really cooling the room..you have to pay extra for parking ...42$
