Convenient location Kind and professional staff Nice bar
Small room A bit noisy outside
Friendly staff, Old world charm
Interiors not fresh, dated, overpriced for what is on offer
Decor Staff Location Valet
Small Bathroom Slow small lift
Because we were celebrating an anniversary the staff upgraded us to a junior suite, which was very nicely appointed. The bed was very comfortable and the view was beautiful overlooking a small courtyard. The hotel was only 2 blocks from the trolley system so we were able to get around very easily.
The A/C didn't keep the room as cool as we would have liked, but it did work.
Well situated near Union Square. A great atmosphere in this hotel.Interesting decor. I kept thinking I was at my Gran's place.Retro without being too cutsey. Not a place for those who like the bland soulless chains.
Room a bit small, but was adequate and much more interesting than usual.
No coffee in suite
Staff bent backwards for all needs. Free morning coffee. Free wine late afternoons. Clean rooms. Old-fashioned 1920s atmosphere. Good lobby to sit in surrounded by books.
Room TV monitor placed in awkward position to view it. It was to the side of the bed instead of at the foot of it.
Great central location. Free tea and coffee in the morning.
location, just 2 minutes walk to cable car station and 5 minutes away from Union Square. Room and bathroom very clean. If you get a room with a street view you get a glimpse of the skyline. Wi-fi is ok .
no breakfast on weekends ??? this is strange...but also not a big problem as you get several different options very close by ...AC was not really cooling the room..you have to pay extra for parking ...42$
Reception staff quite the best we have come across - very friendly while also professional and effortlessly helpful
The staff was exceptional.
The photos of the hotel on Booking.com led me to expect more. The room was extremely small. So was the elevator, hallways and bar. The hallway, and especially my room, smelled. They tried to mask it with air fresher but the whole place smelled dank and old.
price is tow much small romms bad futnture
Staff was wonderfully accomodating. Suite was spacious, comfortable and quiet at a great price. We parked the car at the hotel and walked everywhere! Coming back soon!
Location, staff, wine in the library bar, quiet room, character
Lack of coffee making facility in room
Very close to Union Square for shopping and first stop of Hop-on-Hop-off bus tours. Breakfast good with lots of choice, and loved the fact that we could get the perfect evening bar snacks at the hotel without having to go out to a restaurant if we were tired, also the bar area had great atmosphere for drinks.
Thought it strange the hotel didn't serve breakfast at the weekends, although there is a diner at the end of the street.
Staff at reception were friendly and helpful. Nice bar. Great location.
Smelly carpet in room, smelly corridor (3rd floor), smell of cigarettes and cigar in corridor, very noisy neighbours is not the fault of the hotel, but walls are thin so you kind of 'live with your neighbours'. Free red wine between 5-6pm is nice, but be aware; it's 1 glass only. They charge you for the next one ;-)
Comfort of room and friendliness of staff
No coffee making facilities in the room
the location was good approx 4 blocks from BART and right on the edge of Union Square.
nothing, all was fine.
The hotel staff was very nice both at the reception desk and the bar. We enjoyed our stay in this beautifull old style hotel. The first room we got was located on the 3th floor which was quit noisy due to street traffic. When we asked for another room they immediatly moved us to the 6th floor which was much better. The room itself was of normal size with a small bathroom. The bar is great to have a cocktail before going out to dinner our just to relax and read a book.
All in all we stayed 3 weeks in the US and San Francisco was the most expensive city with regard to hotels. We payed much more than in other cities and were therefore expecting a slightly better and bigger room. Especially the bathroom was quit tiny. But this didn't prevent us from enjoying our stay in this great city.
The atmosphere in the bar and rooms. Free wine every evening, and a brilliant location around the corner from the main square, shops and transportation.
Location and decor
Surprise 100$ parking cost. Snuck onto the bill unapologetically after an enthusiastic concierge put us into the valet's hands. Watch out for the hidden charges.
Bed, AC, no ice, elevator
Location - close to centre, but quiet. Близко к центру, но тихо
The smell of old and dust in the room, staff not attentive. We have booked a room with two beds, told by arrival ( at 2 am from airport) that no availability - just a king room. Wonderful alternative for a weekend with a friend. Запах несвежей старости в комнате. Отвратительно не заинтересованный персонал. Мы с подругой бронировали номер с двумя кроватями, по приезду из аэропорта ( в 2 часа ночи) нам сказали, что у них есть номер только с одной кроватью.
