Room was large, clean enough, bed a bit hard but we slept well. Bath was large, location convenient. Decent parking, restaurant downstairs but not fancy. Traffic noise quieted down early. What more could you ask for???
Being picky here considering the price but the decor was clearly assembled from leftover bits. Bathroom door hinges squeak very loudly woke up my wife. Just not a fancy room. Traffic noise from busy street in front.
We were heading to the Newport Boat show down the street. The location was close enough at a fair price. We liked that there was a restaurant right there at the inn. Food was delicious.
We were on the third floor. There is no elevator to carry all our bags up. The room was neat but dated and furnishings were tired looking.
The location was a short drive from downtown Newport. Since I am pregnant, I was glad to be away from the noise of late night crowds. The staff was very pleasant, friendly and accommodating. The bed was comfortable. We ate breakfast in the restaurant and it was very good. For a last minute overnight, the stay was overall good. I wouldn't book here again, though.
The room had an underlying odor of stale cigarettes. It also smelled like cheap perfume. I opened a drawer and found a leaky liquid room deodorizer that had spilled in the drawer. This was the source of the cheap perfume smell. When we were home, we noticed our clothes smelled like the cigarettes and the perfume. Some of the items in the room were a bit dirty, ie the tv remote was all gunked up with some sticky substance.
The room was ok, but the hallway smelled of bleach and a rodent was running around in the ceiling most of the night making it less than a relaxing stay.
We payed to stay at rheas by the sea, down by the ocean and we were tricked into staying at this place. Ended up paying more and spent one night at this dump miles outside of town. Ruined our vacation. Don't get tricked like we did and pay for the nice place within walking distance and end up here. A little strange that there are two place named "rheas" with the same exact label. Just beware, we spent a lot of money and promised our 7 year old that we would be by the ocean. Very sad really, to lie and steal from an innocent young family. I just hope that no one else has to go through what we had to and deal with stress, etc. how could you charge someone $300 for one night at a place that is in a bad part of town and no where near the ocean. We would have payed a $100 if that was the case at a place that at least had an alarm clock in the room. Oh well, lesson learned. Just beware.
Large comfortable room (we were upgraded to a King room with spa tub on the third floor - thanks!). Older building being nicely renovated by new (?) owners. Attractive dining room. Close to wineries in Middletown, short drive into Newport or up to Portsmouth and Bristol.
Located on busy commercial strip, although the noise wasn't too bad. That notwithstanding, very convenient.
there was no shower liner in the shower, only a curtain.
Very clean. Friendly staff.
Shower was either cold or scalding. We only stayed one night or else it would have been a huge problem
location, under $500. While it was a tiny, somewhat tired room it was clean and quiet.
my review says I would recommend, but need to qualify. it was a $200 room worth maybe $50 I tried to book a room 2 months in advance and very few choices under $500.
The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The restaurant was fresh and clean, and the breakfast we had was very good. The good part of the location is that it is not far at all from Newport.
If you're looking for something scenic, this is not that. It is on the main road. But it is kept very well. It's hard pillows and thin towels kind of place. They are planning on upgrading the rooms.
My husband and I stayed for one night over the weekend. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They did whatever they could to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. When we had questions they had educated and informative answers. The rooms were very clean and simple. This is not a place to sit in the room and do nothing. This is a place where you go talk to the locals and get outside. It is located only a $7 cab ride from downtown. Overall this was an excellent, accommodating place to stay and I will most likely be coming back.
There was nothing about the place I liked. I was duped by there website to think I was going to Rheas by the Sea, rheas inn and reserteraunt was poorly kept and poorly managed
From the uncomfortable bed, to the smell of mothballs when you walk up the stairs, this place should be condemned. There was nothing enjoyable about this place except for the fact we were the only ones dumb enough to book a room, there was not a single room rented but ours. The place was dirty, there's no staff after 10pm, all in all, the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.....
There is a restaurant on site and we had a very nice meal on the night we stayed
No lift The room and bathroom needed updating
The location was perfect for our destination, Newport. Staff were very kind and worked hard. The restaurant was often full of locals who were there for a good, home style meal.
It is a no-frills place. I would have preferred a tub but we had only a shower and a tiny sink with very little vanity counter top space.
very plain place
Inn Keeper was the nicest guy. Great price for such a highly occupied weekend (Saturday of labor day). Clean. Convenient.
Beds were a little hard, but not that big of a deal.
The staff was friendly, the room was clean and it was near located near shopping.
The bathroom was very small.
