We loved the view of the river and the christmas boats from our room. The 2 bedroom 2 bathroom condo was a perfect fit for our family.
The room had definitely been smoked in recently. That was a bummer. The front desk removed our parking fee to help offset the lingering smell of smoke.
Location Ideal, staff thoughtful and accommodating, amenities bountiful.. Although coffee should be offered for bit longer, but all in all, the stay was good.
The bed and view were fantastic. The room was bigger than I expected it to be. They provided a magnified makeup mirror in the bathroom, which was an excellent surprise. The staff that we encountered on our stay were very pleasant. Due to airline delays we did not check in until quite late and the night clerk gave us free valet parking for one evening. That made all the difference for us as we were exhausted from a long day of travel.
Paid WiFi was a large negative. Other than that, the issues were very minor and would not hinder me from staying there again. Our room key needed to be re-coded several times which was annoying. Also, whoever designed the bathroom didn't realize that twisting around 180 degrees to reach the toilet paper would be a hassle :)
From the service to the room, everything was perfect. We enjoyed the evening happy hour, the location was great to get to either side of the river, and the river view was beautiful - even on cloudy days.
I would like a discount or partial refund. The two things I stayed there for I could not use!
The spa was closed for remodel and no one knew. The bar closed early. The bartender was there and would not serve me at 9:30pm. They close at 10 according to signs.
Free upgrades to exec. king suites, complimentary wine, and a friendly, laid back staff all made this stay lovely. Super comfy bed, and the river walk is right out the front door.
Our room wasn't quite ready when we arrived -- but the complementary upgrade more than made up for it.
The airconditioner was very noisy and not heating well.
I'll be coming back to Kimpton Hotels for more.
Comfy room, yoga mat in closet
River Place was much nl more affordable than other hotels we considered in the downtown/waterfront area. We really appreciated the nightly happy hour. The room was super comfy and clean. The staff very friendly and helpful. My only gripe would be the $31/night vallet parking. They claimed it was significantly cheaper than at downtown hotels but seemed a little step to me, especially since there was a public parking garage around the corner for only $15/night.
No spa/pool on site.
Staff is amazing!! Location is perfect
Wifi isn't free and quite expensive Parking costs fortunes
Comfortable room, clean, nicely furnished, quiet. Very helpful, friendly and courteous staff.
Expensive. Wi-fi and parking at extra charge.
Nice location on waterfront Valet parking Clean room Several restaurants within walking distance
Very uncomfortable bed-my husband and I both had backaches. The quality of sleep makes a big difference when I rate a hotel. Road noise from cars on nearby overpass. Sloppy service outside bar area i.e. no napkins or silverware w/food, wrong check etc.
The hotel, Room, View and staff were all great, and the free wine tasting in the lobby was a nice surprise.
Did not like the eggs benedict, but the manager removed from bill without hesitation, so all was forgiven.
Drinks every evening and a seat on the Portland waterfront
Very expensive to book thru third party. You miss out on seniors discount for example.
Location on the river
Quiet and beauty of property/rooms. Great happy, helpful staff.
The location was lovely with a great location to walk to local attractions and transit. The staff was attentive and very pleasant. I would recommend this to anyone looking to relax and enjoy the Portland downtown.
Great location on the water.
Nice property but parking is tough and expensive if you don't valet.
location and good staffs
The room was nice, with a small view of the harbor and river! The desk staffer Allie was amazingly helpful! The blackout curtains in the room were great.
Towel bar in room 208 was broken. The bathroom window wouldn't open, neither bathroom window had a bug screen. Multiple blinds in the bathroom were broken as well. The elevator door button was cracked. These are small things but make a big impact on the impression when a hotel is billed and charging like an upper scale hotel. Having a larger selection for the evening cocktail hour would be a good idea as well. We stopped in but after trying the Sangria (to tart) and a white wine (lower quality) and a red wine (not enough body), we left them all in drank and went with a beer.
Came to visit my granddaughter. She was so impressed with hotel and staff. It made her feel like a princess. We went bike riding around the water front and spent time at the street fair across the road. There was much to do that we didn't have to leave the area at all. The restaurant service was good but I think she enjoyed the room service even more. The staff were well acquainted with the area and helped with any question we had. It was an excellent stay and will do it again.
Free wine hour.
Nice views from our river view room. Comfortable bed.
It's a bit overpriced. We got a King suite, but I'd hardly call it a suite as there was no separate room/space for living area. It's a little further out from everything. The train whistles are heard way too well.
