The staff and the location. Safe area, shop easy at hand, easy access to city centre
The room was tiny, the cleanliness not good
Location of the hotel
Size of the room
close to the subway, central park, many restaurants around, nice staff
noisy, small room (3 people), air conditionning very loud, broken tv and remote, only soap in the bathroom
Good wifi service Proximity of eating joints, bart, garden, quite and save neighborhood
Size of room Adjacent room entrance through common toilet Mattress on bed, sagging and uncomfortable
Location and neighborhood
Size of the room Overall look and feel of the room Quality of bedding, bed, and pillow One staff at reception to handle all queries and guests is not enough and impacts service standards
really good location (walking distance to central park)
- good value for money for the area - friendly staff
- the toilet didn't flush when we arrived but the plumber fixed it straight away - the shower pressure was poor - the AC makes a LOT of noise can be difficult to sleep at night - recommend ear plugs!
Excellent location right next to Hudson River and a river side park. If you are a runner (like me), you'd love this park for jogging while looking at Hudson River. It's 10 times better than the famous Central Park that is overcrowded.
Room is so so small. I'm not sure if it's a standard size for this price range, but my wife and I were pushing each other when we tried to move around in the room. And the bathroom could be cleaned up more. Overall, we didn't feel very comfortable.
very poor rooms no vending machines no credit card accepted at the cafe bad mattress bad room design extremely poor bathroom smelly no shampoo or other things except a very ugly soap
Very clean Friendly, helpful staff Quiet Refrigerator Fantastic price Location
I stayed 3 nights. First night internet worked fine. But next 2 nights I could not get into internet from my room. Staff tried to help, re-set the account a few times, but nothing seemed to fix the problem.
Great rate for a prime upper west side location. For a couple with a child, our two small rooms separated by a bathroom worked well.
Staff VERY helpful and friendly. Price meant that we could have 2 rooms interconnected whilst giving ourselves and our teenagers a separate space, although both rooms and bathroom are very tight spacewise. But then the price is low for New York. But as a safe quiet, base, in which to sleep, with food shops nearby, it does the job.
This was the least expensive place we found to stay in Manhattan. It's exactly what it says it is - clean, good location, safe and inexpensive. The neighborhood was very nice. You can park for free on the street if you're lucky. There really is lots of food markets in the area.
The rooms are small and dated, but it worked very well for our purposes.
I really like the location. It's close enough to the hustle and bustle of Times Square and the theatre district, but quiet and residential. Being right near the park is also very nice. It's small, but clean and functional. I discovered this place years ago and they've continued to slowly improve. I like it and have recommended it to friends. They've stayed there and liked it as well. If you're looking for luxury, this isn't the place for you.
The location was good for us as all was walking distance to Times Square and Central Park. The staff was great, front desk, maid service and even the attached coffee shop. We stayed there 18 years ago and would stay there again!
The only thing I could say is the building is quite old, and we were on the 2nd floor, so we walked up the stairs. They had an acrid aroma; seemed if some of the windows were opened, this would have fixed it.
The staff was great. Helpful in any way. The location was great too! Close to the subway, and close to central park.
The building is an old dorm, hence, the rooms are extremely small. For the two of us and all our luggage, the room was too small.
Outdated Noisy/echo hallways
LOCATION EXCELLENT FRIENDLY STAFF VIEW GREAT OF HUDSON RIVER
HALLWAY BADLY DAMAGED AND DIRTY ROOM LAYOUT BAD 2ND BEDROOM ONLY ACCESSIBLE THROUGH BATHROOM LOBBY GRUBBY DOORS TO ROOM NOT FIREPROOF NOT SECURE LOCKS CARPET OLD AND DIRTY NEEDS MAJOR RENOVATION
Location and price.
Small rooms. Cockroach in bathroom. No safety box. Poor security. No safety latch on door
Great location, actually had a nice view of the Hudson. Close to subway on Broadway and Zabars for your morning coffee and bagel, 15 minute walk to Central Park, safe area. Goid water pressure, clean beds and rooms.
Size of rooms, older accomodations, not a place to hang out, but good for sleep and shower. Slightly musty, but cleared up when you turned air conditioner on.
We really liked the location..close to a park and public transportation, yet in a quiet, residential neighborhood. So we were able to sightsee all day long with all the hustle and bustle and then come "home" to a safe, quiet neighborhood to relax and rest up before the nest day's activities. It is an older hotel so does not have all the frills of newer places but that added somewhat to it's charm. I would stay here again.
The hotel was run down. The elevator was scary. The rooms were not clean.
The location is close to the subways, safe environment. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean.
Close to Broadway and subway. 15-20 min walk to Central Park.
Old rooms. Even though it was "budget" price, I think it was expensive considering the standard of the room. We had to go through the bathroom in order to get to the other room in our "suite". No sink in the bathroom, and old shower curtains. The management wouldn't call a taxi for us, when we had to go to the airport. This was because they had their own driver, which costed 20 dollar more than a regular taxi to the airport. Bad service..
location, cleanliness, parked for free, right on the street! Air Conditioning worked great! 2 flat screen TV's, 1 in each bedroom, (1 with single bed, 1 with queen bed, shower and toilet in between the 2 rooms, with a bathroom sized sink in each bedroom. worked out great!
didn't bother us, but rooms are quite small.
