This is the worst experience I've ever had in a hotel, and it was not just us - other guests had a similar experience. I really don't want to write this and as a result bring this place less business (because it was just this one staff person who was a problem), but I don't want others to have a horrible experience also, so am writing a forewarning of sorts.
We are calm and quiet professionals, and have never had a problem elsewhere. I can typically brush things off pretty easily. However, this experience has stayed with us for days, in a very negative way, even though clearly this man has personal issues that are not about us - he most certainly took them out on us.
In the morning at the breakfast area, the older man at the front desk unexpectedly and angrily verbally berated us as though we were children, forcefully telling one of us " I don't want to see your face down here again" (in the lobby, by the way, which must be used for entering/leaving this place at which we paid to stay) - simply because we unfortunately did not notice a sign that apparently exists regarding the continental breakfast rules, and were about to take 1 piece of toast to our room. I cannot underscore enough how rude and angry this man was - disturbingly so.
We do of course understand the importance of rules, but we did not purposefully break a rule, and indeed even if we had, we deserve to be spoken to with respect, as we paid to stay at this hoteI, and we are kind and decent people and customers.
After some thought, I decided that because his actions and words were so extreme and rude, that I should speak to this man calmly and let him know that he was treating his guest unacceptably and disrespectfully. This is something I have never actually done prior, because I hadn't yet experienced this level of rudeness.
Rooms actually look better in person than in the photos- they've been updated.
