Had a great stay at the Hotel Royal. As a first time visitor to New Orleans, this hotel was in the perfect location. The staff were very friendly, and the rooms were quaint and simple. Beautiful courtyard out back - would definitely return!

We loved the room and the balcony as well as the friendly helpful staff. We received great info about the area and where to go for great food. That there wasn't a mini fridge in the room, or any kind of a dresser to store clothes just a closet.

The staff was by far the best hotel staff I've dealt with. The bell man take their jobs to another level, very friendly and extremely helpful. The room was great, but even if it wasn't the staff would of made up for it. I can honestly say there is nothing bad I can say about hotel royal or it's staff.

Best location. In the heart of the French Quarter. Very convenient. We explored the town on foot - did not need a car. Very clean. Our room did not have a window and was very small (probably explaining the low rate we got). Parking is a problem and adds substantially to the costs of the stay. Some fees at the hotel do not show on the website. Our stay cost much more than we had expected.

The balcony was very nice, and there was always hot water We wound up paying almost double the price that had been quoted on line. Our last night the hotel had a fire and no effort was made to make up for or even to check with us to find out if we were ok with the smoky smell of the room. The staff seemed overwhlemed . The breakfast was a joke. we booked a queen bed and got stuck with 2 double beds . I would never stay here again !

The Hotel was architecturally traditional and the hard wood floors, brick walls and tall and skinny double French doors were charming. The location was perfect. The staff was friendly and very accomodating. Third floor sucked. I inquired about moving down a floor and they were to get back to but never did.

Very noisey; guests are very loud at all hours of the morning (2-4 am) without the staff intervening. We thought we made reservations at the Royal Orleans so the name of the hotel is very deceptive because it is also located on Royal. No elevator and parking is not secure. A very disapointing stay.

The Petit room is adorable! The hotel is very charming and clean and comfortable. There was a TV show filming in the courtyard and we were not informed. It was very annoying for two young adults just trying to explore and get drunk on bourbon street and stumble to our room. One night, a band of cockroaches ran across the hall.

The balcony was one of our favorite things about the trip. Sat out there and watched people go by. Went with two other couples so was plenty of room for all of us. The room was awesome. Started out with the superior room on the 4th floor. Way too many steps to have to deal with. Stayed one night and switched to balcony room which was the bomb!

Our third night and without notice the management gave a TV production company filming permission for a vampire TV series that made it absolutely impossible to sleep from 10 pm to 6 am. Screaming, lights, dozens of extras, rock music, megaphones. I complained without effect and never received an apology. My worst hotel night in over 50 of traveling. We stayed for a week. First we were assigned a fourth floor room with no elevator. Next we were moved to a room so small that it did not even have or have room for a chair. The carpeting in the room felt like a briar patch on bare feet. The web site grossly overstates the quality of the hotel. The so-called "enhanced European breakfast" was meager and unappealing with no where to eat it if it was worth eating which it was not. One can only imagine what the breakfast service was before it was "enhanced". The young men who took care of luggage and taxis were truly wonderful and I hope they find a much more deserving hotel to work at. Booking.com should take this hotel out of its inventory.

The history of the hotel and the location. The bathroom! The shower was so small I barely fit, and the sink was smaller than a birdbath! I also didn't like that we were on the 3rd floor with no elevator. The stairs were steep and difficult to travel. The couryard balcony was slanted!

The location was perfect. It was central to all attractions. The second room that we were in was nice. The staff was nice but did not know anything about the city, places to eat or how to wow a guest. The staff was clueless. I was traveling with my 75 year old Mother. First they put us on the 4th floor and then switched us to the 3rd. The second day we were there they decided to room move us. We went down to the second floor. The pictures on the internet do not tell a true story of what the rooms are like. The first room that we were in was not remodeled like the one on the second floor.

Location was awesome. History of the building was awesome, suite was beautiful. Across from elementary school, the kids got loud sometimes. We were in a balcony suite and the roof was slanted so it freaked me out to stand on it. If we go again I would get a regular room and not spring for the balcony. All the rooms were just as beautiful.

Great location, great boutique hotel, loved our balcony suite with balcony. Huge room/bath. Loved our room! Website said pillowtop mattress and it was not. Lots, lots of taxes and fees. Wish the website included them. You know what they are. We booked at $561 for 3 nights, actual was $760, big difference! Parking was added too. IPod station did not work (worn out).

The only pro to this one was being so close to burbon St. There was a sweet staff member who helped to the best she could, she worked the front desk the day we left. The manager who lied and said they cleaned my room (he was caught in his lie since the employee he said went with him had no idea what he was talking about),Also they kept saying we had the do not disturb up...we didnt.. the huge hair ball the jacuzzi tub spit out, I wouldnt use the tub until someone cleaned it and NO one ever did. They refused to refund me the extra we paid for the jacuzzi since i never got to use it. The drains didnt drain very well and there was one tiny trash can in our room (room could have used at least another one) Oh and they do not have parking but for like 7 cars, so its all you where to park your car while you hike back to the hotel leaving your car in a lot unprotected so far away paying 30 a night. I was so sad and depressed leaving this place, you wouldn't catch me dead in this hotel ever again.

It is close to Bourbon street and the restaurants and night life nearby. Only a few items for breakfast and not well displayed or presented, as I would have thought they would use courtyard area which is nice in the center of the building. Do not stay in Petite Room and there is no parking even if you are told they have paid parking because there are only a few spots and the rooms are very very small and the beds are full sized not queen with no windows. Would never recommend this room to anyone.

The hotel front desk staff was so friendly. The bellhop really sweet and informative (Eric) Rooms are small but adequate, nice design. Comfortable beds. Do not buy breakfast deal. All it is is coffee, rolls, yogurt and cereal. There is a coffee shop across the street. Lots of stairs and they are outside if it is raining (which it was)...no computer station.
