It is very close to the subway station. We could know more of the spanish neighborhood. There're basically everything there: electronic stores to markets. We stayed in a king studio, the room was big and there was a closet with a key so we could put or stuff there when we left. The bed was large, but the mattress was very tiny and not so comfortable, but if you are looking for just a place to sleep and for a cheap price, this is perfectly fine. The kitchen is very equipped. The place is clean. A good place for a good price The shower curtain was very dirty, but we talked to the lady who work there (she just speaks spanish) and she changed the curtain right away!
Does not have elevator and the rooms are in the second or third floor. The stairs are very curved and very small. If you have lots of luggage will be hard to go upstairs. There's no one to receive you, I didn't like this because you cannot talk to anyone if you need. The look door is not to secure (our room didn't lock at all) but we stayed 1 week and everything was perfectly fine. The bed was not so comfortable, but was fair to the price.
The hostel was warm, clean and in an excellent location to the number 6 subway. Although you cannot lock the door from the outside the apartment is nice and secure and you are provided a lovable wardrobe that is adequate for security and whilst you are inside your room you can lock the door from the inside. The hostel is incredible value for money and the location whilst in Harlem is quite a nice area we enjoyed a walk into central park many of the days we were in New York
Shared bathroom isn't a great thing as one day we were waiting quite a long time but it was literally one day and only one of us that was desperate if a second bathroom was added that would be my only suggestion there is enough room as the roof terrace was an amazing space.
Location...kitchen...value for money....Wi-Fi
TV channels were poor( small thing)..... dirty pillow never cleaned... Not being able to lock my room
To the owners: please invest a bit on changing at least the mattress, it is so old that I slept over the wires. Overall, everything is so old that it is just filthy: walls are dirty with some sort of dark drops all over, bed linen and towels the same, one pillow was plenty of blood, the shower curtain was disgusting.... A woman cleans everyday, so it is not about who cleans, it is just that everything is already too used. Of course, you wont see anyone expect the cleaning lady so you pretty much will have to deal with everything and just leave feedback... I wouldn't repeat here and I don't recommend it at all.
It was a nice quiet apartment. There were some issues with checking in and we were sat outside for a while but got in eventually. Also our tv didn't work and it took a couple of days to sort that out, but we were grateful it was fixed.
With the few problems we encountered it would have been great to have on-site staff. The only staff you ever see is the cleaner and she speaks no English at all.
- near the metro station - good price - close to the supermarket and fast food restaurants
-we culdn' t find the hotel, there is no sign - it is not possible to lock the room, only the big locker inside the room - the area outside the hotel doesn ´ t look very nice a safe, but fortunatelly we didn ´ t have any problems
Next subway (open 24 hours) and restaurant. Nice neighborhood and low prices on all the things (including food). Its possible to do a lot of thing on foot. Perfect cleaning and room service. Secure, you can look all your thing.
No staff or a way to communicate with someone.
The Internet was always good. The subway is in easy reach of the hostel.
Blood on the walls, pubes on the bed before we even used it. The major problem was no locks on the doors. The neighbourhood felt unsafe. There is no sign saying it was a hostel. It should say look for the dentist/gynaecologist office. No point of contact ie reception area.
Very clean, large rooms, very, very close to the subway. Kitchenette well prepared. We were very satisfied. Excellent Wi-Fi!!!
There are no locks on the door! It's unthinkable! You do not need to enter the keys of your room. The only security codes on the door to the stairwell and lockable wardrobe. You have to trust your neighbors.
15 min walk to central park Really clean Confortable
It was great location to be in since it was sitting right above a subway station.
The Television did not have all the channels running, and the bunk bed were not comfortable to sleep on.
Room is clean and all facilities is great. Location is the best!
There is no name plate or any sign in front of hostel to show us that its name is rostel.
Price. Cleanliness. Subway 1 min away from the hotel.
It takes around 30-40 min to travel by subway to downtown manhattan.
organization (keys) wifi price/quality
Good price, location, nice shops around, the subway is seconds away. I Would stay here again.
No elevator and no staff.
Clean, subway nearby, good value for money, lots of shops and restaurants in the area.
Housekeeping didnt speak any english, spanish only. Matrass was really bad, you can feel the springs.
Location was good, near of the subway.
Can´t lock the doors. This is really unbelievable.
I would have said the good thing about the place was the cost but we later realized it was cheap for a reason.
There was no staff around to ask anything. We were there for 8 days and we didn't see a single staff except a cleaner who couldn't speak English. We actually wanted to check out from the first day but the hotel already charged us for the 8 days so we were forced to stay. For the 8 days, the sheets in the room were not changed. We had to share conveniences with 2 other families so we kept waiting for one another to use to loo. Although we didn't have any direct negative experiences, the location looks so insecure with all sorts of hoodlums hanging around and policemen at every block. One of the worst parts for us is that the hotel rooms doors don't lock! The front door is usually open.
The rostel is very clean, is like 10 min away (on foot) from the edge of Central Park. The room is very comfortable and the kitchen is very well equipped. Nice local shops nearby. And easy access to bus and underground (I found it better to take bus to and from lower Manhattan instead of the subway).
Eventhough was the cheapest htl I could find available in Upper Manhattan, it is very expensive and the area of East Harlem is a bit awkward and seams quite dangerous, although no one ever disturbed me.
The room was clean, the hotel is situated 2 minutes walking from the subway station which made it easy to find.
