Score from 248 reviews Excellent
friendly, helpful and caring staff. great and spacious rooms. clean bathroom. comfortable bed. great bar.
Great location funky design
Cool jazzy atmosphere of the lobby Location
Tiny elevators and hallways (not for claustrophobic people!!!) Our room on 14th floor had no view.
The size of the suite was considerable compared to many NYC hotels. The staff was extremely professional and attentive.
The bed was my only major concern, and the ingress and egress to the shower. If you like a firm bed then you will enjoy. My only complaint was that the bed was too firm for my taste which made for an uncomfortable awaking with back pains. The accessibility to enter and exit the shower was a concern because I had to climb in and out of the tub to access the shower. I understand that the shower issue is only related to the suite. But by no means will this stop me from staying at this hotel as the goo certainly out weighed the bad.
Wonderful location that is near Grand Central station...hotel is charming, rooms a comfortable and a real hot spot for the cocktail circuit.
The front desk staff need to engage in a friendlier manner with guests (cliche NYC attitudes are passé).
- top location - very nice bathroom (applies to super deluxe room) - room size
- should be hip but for me absolutely too dark (could hardly see something upon arrival) - missing written guest information - club lounge closes too early - wardrobe size - large bed booked was only a queensize bed
Bed and other items really good.
Air condition noise was terrible.
Rooms are not nice, Even poore for five stars hotel
Location, friendly staff, the room was large! Location is few minutes walk from times square, grand central and city bus terminal. And short walk to central park
The lobby is more like a bar than a 5 star hotel, you have to speak loudly to communicate with front desk
everything, especially brilliant cocktails in the bar downstairs
well I actually liked it, but you should be aware it is place for candles and fireplaces - somewhat dark most of the time. Grey walls, may not be pleasant for some.
The personnel was horrible not help. They did not accept cash deposit . It was very loud , you cannot have a quiet business meeting unless you were 18 years old.It is not recommended to businessmen .
cleanliness of room (not to be taken for granted in NY hotels..) , good customer care. location.
lobby area is far too dark. Also corridors to room are in need of renovation. room service menu not catered for vegetarians (limited options).
Great customer service, breakfast was amazing, decor was brilliant
Location was excellent; friendly staff/team. nice hotel overall
made a few requests and there was no response; had to ask repeatedly for glasses, hygiene products etc. and there was no coffeemaker in room.
Stayed here for a weekend in June and got a decent rate for booking through Monday. I found the staff generally very helpful and was put into one of only 3 rooms with a balcony (12th floor). It was comfy and a good size, if oddly gloomy (see below). The location is great - Broadway theatres are no more than 10mins walk, 5th Ave shopping around the corner, Rockefeller Center likewise (better observation deck than the Empire State!).
High surrounding buildings mean the rooms don't get much direct sunlight, so ask for the brightest available if this is an issue for you. And if you enjoy catwalk runways (watching of walking), the swish lobby will be right up your alley. I'll happily stay here again.
I'm usually very fussy about hotels but this surpassed expectations for a number of reasons: Great breakfast Clean room Very very helpful staff!! Nice ambiance in the lobby/bar Everything worked Great wifi service!!!!!
The room did smell of vomit which became more pungent as time went along even with the rooms cleaned daily. I do believe this was an anomaly however. Room was a little small in comparison to pics. Perhaps New York hotel rooms are generally small. Requested twin beds and received no feedback of inability to accommodate until arrival when we were advised there were no rooms and to upgrade later would cost. Fore-notification would have been nice. Besides that everything was absolutely fantastic! Would recommend and would stay again.
Fabulously luxurious bath, very elegant decor.
Staff on the doors seemed judgemental and I thought we'd booked a room with breakfast which we then had to pay for separately.
liked the size and decor of the room and the location.
nothing really except the Bose controller for the ipod player needed new batteries so we couldn't control the volume.
Location was excellent and staff were very friendly and accommodating
A/C was a little noisy
The hotel location, our room itself, the staff at the reception, the bathroom toiletries and the general decor of the hotel.
We could have used a strong light in the bathroom. Even with the magnifying mirror, we would have liked stronger light over the bathroom sink.
They upgraded me to a suite in the penthouse section and it was very large and very dark. Had to have maintenance come up and replace light bulbs. Big kitchen with ABSOLUTELY no glasses nor dishes. Not worth the money.
The shower gel
No bathrobes or slippers, the air con didn't work properly, it was either on or off the low fan option didn't work, no space in the bathroom for toiletries, water splashes all over as the sink is too small, dark lobby, cannot open windows, linen not changed every day, inconsistent replenishment of toiletries, drain in the shower smelled
We liked everything,; location, comfort, service...
Lobby, bar, restaurant were too dark. Beautiful sunny day outside but no way to tell.
Location is perfect particularly if you don't know NYC too well! Staff were very friendly and attentive.
Breakfast expensive. Plenty of cafés close by for half the price and better choice / value for money.
