The owner did finally honor the reservation after a very heated conversation
The owner called me a liar and called by friend names.. I have never ever been treated so poorly by a business owner.. I would never stay at this place again and would never recommend it.. In addition, the beds were extremely uncomfortable and it felt like we were being eaten by bugs all night.
very run down ,basic motel,no extras. would not take my family there. not worth the money, keep going to marina
It was a big room.
The humidity was quite high and it smelled very old.
Host were very honest and nice. Great price close to beach. Flat panel tv HBO, fridge and microwave.
The ambience of a flophouse.
Good location, reasonable price, friendly staff.
Cordial and accompanying staff. Room is good value for the cost. Nice apartment refrigerator and microwave.
No air conditioner and extremely thin towels.
The shower didn't have hot water and you could hear everything going on in the adjacent rooms as well as outside.
You have room to stretch legs, can go to the bathroom.
Very very outdated, almost everything needs repair, including bed. If you're hoping for good sleep after road, you in the wrong place. Bed is squeeling so bad, it wakes you up all the time during the night. Do your self a favor, pay $20 more, get to better place, believe me it's worth it in this case.
Clean, Tidy and proximate
Price was higher than I recall
towels were brown, bed spread was stained, rat or mice holes in the base board. Overpriced. Charged $200 per night. We left after one night because of the bad smell and overall nastiness of the place. No refund. Place should be closed down and refurbished. Do not recommend at any price. Better to sleep in car and I tried to but had to sleep in room because of bad back. I can send pictures of everything. I plan on complaining to health department. Booking.com should remove from website to avoid being associated with a rat infested rip off.
Things fall apart, the oldest bath tub I ever used. Please
Very poorly maintanied
easy to find parking
traffic noise tired towels lousy coffee
office staff very nice, convenient to our destination, cost good, beds comfortable, room clean
room smelled bad - musty and old cigarette smells. roll away bed was very old and uncomfortable, venting in bathroom totally inadequate
Location, near all Monterey area, good restaurants nearby in Moss Landing
Room was dark (few and old lighting spots), room was out of date (awful and old bed linings, the whole room felt old.
The location was perfect, close to Monterey.
Very loud, it was cost way more than it's worth. I wouldn't go back or recommend to anyone I know. Beds were uncomfortable and no air conditioning was available.
Location-very close to Monterey and other nearby tourist places. Relatively clean, but very uncomfortable.
Very poorly maintained. Looked shabby for travelers, who want a good night's sleep. Garden in front of office has lots of exotic and beautiful plantings which have been totally neglected by current management. As one enters the hotel office, a dying ivy plant decorates the office.(Why not use a fresh looking artificial plant, which would give a better impression?) The bedsheets were mismatched totally faded and crumpled. It makes Goodwill bedsheets look very good. The manager is very indifferent to suggestions. Almost did not sleep, even if we were very tired. Would not recommend this motel to my worst enemy, let alone friends and family. A big difference to our next hotel, for same price-white sheets, very clean and very friendly staff. And to think that our next hotel was rated lower than Artichoke Inn(should be rated 1 out of 10).
Location is good, only 35 mins from Monterey. Hotel relatively clean. Hotel plantings and front garden would have been a great asset, but neglected and full of dead leaves and bushes. Suggested to hire a gardener, who can clean once a month, but manager indifferent. The only saving grace, was that we had dinner at a RED TROLLEY GRILL down the street, which had absolutely fantastic food(can be rated a 10 out of 10 for the diner)!
First impression on entering the office is a dying or almost dead ivy plant. Whynot use a fake plant, if the management could not take care of it. Bed sheets were mismatched, faded and "icky" looking, almost could not sleep on it. Bedsheets were not even thrift shop quality. The surroundings have not been swept, so there are plenty of dead leaves on the property. The rooms did not exude a place where you will have a restful sleep. We were very tired from our trip, and could not feel comfortable sleeping there. What a big difference our next hotel was, which was rated lower than Artichoke Inn, but had clean white sheets, pleasant room decor and very friendly staff!
I should have believed the previous reviewers about the cleanliness. The bedsheets were dirty.
Well, if I think hard enough, I might think of something..... Nope not a thing :(
The fact that the first room was overly perfumed to cover the mold in the old window and no screen. We went back to ask for different room, sorry none available. He indicated he would bring a screen, but he brought a key for another room (hummm, none available)? The other room had new duel pane window but the light switches and electrical were a mess! Turn on one and the other goes out, they go off anytime, and the hair dryer blew out ghe circuit. The place is old and in poor shape- definetly not worth the price!!
One of the most reasonably priced motels in Monterey area; rooms clean with fridge & microwave; helpful staff.
Problems with light switches sometimes difficult to operate.
In the middle of summer, no a/c and no warning of that. When we opened the window, the amount of cars and big trucks driving through there made it unbearable. Also, the ceilings had a blood-like splatter on it. Hopefully not blood...
The whole night it smelled of really strong mildew. It made me sick. I never in my life stayed in a place that was this bad.wifi could not connect told the lady the next day before leaving she told me oh it must be to many people on the internet..so really there is no wifi..I didn't like nothing about this place.
