Nothing. And I mean it. Don´t do it. Seriously: don´t! Scary neighbourhood, dirty sheets, mold on the ceiling, no lamp, no hangers, no chair. Freaky staff has its feet on the table. Looks like a romanian prison in 1982. Feels like that, too. If your not desperate, go look somewhere else. Overall horrible and I have been to my share of so called third world countries. Nothing compares to this.

When we checked in the lady on the desk didnt speak any English. Crackheads in the alley behind our room kept us up all night. The owner, to his credit, did slightly discount the room when I complained in the morning. The hostel is in perhaps the worst part of town in terms of weirdos and crazies. The room was basic, fairly clean and good value in sf - hard to find!

When i entered my room and closed the door, suddenly a mouse came to my room from the other side of door. Eventhough my door was closed. Fortunately i was about to leave hotel. So i came down and asked the manager to remove the mouse from my room when i am back! And also the location of the room is in a street with full of homeless and creepy people. $80 per night really does not worth it to stay the night with a mouse in a hotel located in the street of junkies.

Management was nice. Since we had no heat the management let us use their space heater. No heat. The shower looked like it was just used for trash. The bathrooms never had toilet paper. People would smoke in the bathroom. The Internet hardly worked. Our room smelled of stale smoke. We got offered drugs everytime we left the hostel. It was in the shadiest area of San Francisco.

Ok, so the Tenderloin isn't the greatest neighborhood...but let's focus on the positives: honest owners, accessible location, and private rooms at a cheap rate.Cut your teeth in San Fran from here for a night or two and you'll look back wistfully on 'yo days in the ghetto. lots of black people smoking crack and/or marijuana openly and talking loudly.

It was the only one available this day, so no choice on hostel The worst hotel I've been in an "industrial" country. Location is just on "dangerous" location in San Francisco downtown...a lot of homeless people, grid at entrance of hostel, it's like entrering a prison. It is too much expensive for the quality, should be 10$ per night not more.

The Hostel Hotel is in Union Square and the BART Station. The neighborhood is noisy with homeless and panhandlers getting hostile on each other.
