Score from 125 reviews Good
Good secure wifi internet. Central location in Anacortes.
The motel was old and shabby. Though linen had been laundered, it had old stains. The mattresses were dirty and sagging. There was a coffee maker, but no coffee in the room. There were blown and absent light bulbs in the bathroom. There were no tissues supplied. A request for an early morning wake up call for the ferry was acceded to, but not done. Fortunately we half expected this so when we woke very early, we decided to stay awake just in case!
We were in town for a week end activity. The motel is Block off the main road and is super convenient to all of down town and the water front. The management was great and very accomodating when I requested a first floor unit due to an injury my husband sustained this summer. We had such a great stay we have reserved our ro for next year already.
great nice people let us get loud until 10pm... would go back for sure
the hotel is outdated but who needs sleep right!
I liked the location. Anacortes, Wa. Fern
Smelled, dirty and old furniture and bedding. Needs paint and new flooring.
No locks, drywall was falling off one wall, window was broken, no toilet paper, sick was clogged, very dangerous for 2 young women who had no choice to stay since I arrived at midnight. Staff was smoking when I arrived for check in.
location was great. price was good. layout of room was ideal for my situation.
filthy. no wifi. disorganized staff (through no fault of their own)
The bed was hard as a rock..made sleepy hard.
I like how polite and helpful the owner and daughters were. The rooms were spacious and perfect distance to the ferry.
If only they would focus on detail cleaning this motel be a better place. I understand this property was purchased in worse condition then it is now. Improvements are slowly updated as profits are generated. There is no excuse for all hair, dust bunnies build up around all floors edges and corners. Hairs in bed sheets, thick dust on coffee pot. My heart goes to the single woman mother of four children trying her best to raise her family and manage the motel. If I wasn't attending school 5 days a week and work 6 days a week and raised 3 children of my own i would volunteer my time to clean the rooms for free. Blessings to all who dwell in San Juan Motel!!
Room was spacious. Walking distance to restaurants.
Was going to tell staff about threeissues in room so you could do better. The office was locked when I wanted to check out. Bathroom had hair and grout needing replaced. Kitchen lacks key essentials. Tv quality was poor.
Office help friendly.
Appliances didn't work (coffee pot filthy) Freezer filled with frozen ice (not clean) no hot water in kitchen carpet old torn and filthy. kitchen chairs soiled, smell terrible, sheets stained and worn out.
It's close to the ferry terminal, so convenient for an early morning sailing.
Very dirty. Sheets had stains and even a burn hole in them. The window wouldn't lock, which made me feel unsafe. Carpet was filthy.
This motel is transitioning management and the two staff did their best to assist with plumbing issues in the room. Good location to points of interest on Anacortes.
Had to move out of the first room as the toilet was clogged by a previous rentor, took about 30 mins to fill and did not flush properly. This could easily be fixed with a replacement kit. The rooms offer kitchenettes but no utensils or dishes. Second room was missing the coffee-maker.
The price was affordable! It made it possible for my daughters to stay in Anacortes before catching the early ferry to help with a wedding on Lopez. The location was great, a short walk to town and a charity's bar-b-que, and the marina. The kitchen was an unexpected bonus - more than adequate for our needs. The place had a comfortable and safe "vibe".
It could've been cleaner. I didn't bring flip-flops, so I missed a refreshing shower after a long day's drive. The shower was filthy. The shower curtain had mold and what looked like what could be ecoli growing on it. While the staff were friendly, they fell short on helpful. We went to the office and requested towels twice and never got any. Was that the strategy behind the dirty shower - to ration towels?
Location... Kind of
Double charged my card and I've waited a month and still no refund Open beer can under the sink Open soda in the fridge Cigarette burns in blankets Filthy
The staff was friendly and helpful.
The room was filthy. Both of the beds had hair and dirt.
The roof didn't leak, but to be fair it wasn't raining either. The location is great, right off Commercial Avenue. Not much else good to say about this place.
I regret that there is not a rating level below "Poor" on this website. I also regret staying here. This is the dirtiest hotel you will ever find, every surface (carpets, walls, doors, furniture, appliances, tv etc) is covered with several layers of grime and is sticky to the touch. You do not want to touch anything here. God awful does not begin to describe the stench of our room, which was a horrible combination of cat urine, stale cigarettes and the unmistakable scent of broken dreams. The smell was bad but what made it worse was the INTENSITY of the smell. Generally when you smell something bad you get sensitized to it and after awhile you don't notice it really. Not so here, the perception of the smell was as bad when we left as when we arrived. Perhaps if you are a medical researcher studying olfactory perception this may make an interesting case study, for everyone else, not so much. As many other reviewers have noted we were double billed for our one night stay. The decor of our room was done in the timeless style of Salvation Army dumpster. If you ever wanted to know what becomes of the stuff even Salvation Army can't use or sell, stay here and find out. Broken chairs, beds that strike a heretofore unknown balance between, saggy, broken, lumpy and hard, filthy ancient appliances, its all here. Do yourself a favor, stay somewhere else. I don't care if everything else is booked, sleep in your car and you will be way more comfortable. I don't care that you're traveling with 3 other passengers in a Yugo and the seats don't recline, it will still be more comfortable.
The two queen size beds were clean
Room was in bad condition: rust around bathtub, light bulbs missing from sockets, phone sitting on floor, cover missing from outlet, etc. Requested a wake up call that they did not make. Only 1 bath and 1 hand towel in room. Coffee maker but no cups or coffee. Door on office said DO NOT ring for service until 8 am so could not get additional towels, coffee, etc. before we had to leave. Stayed 2 nights and they did not clean the room at all after the first night including change out towels or make up the bed. 1 outlet was missing the cover creating an electrical safety hazard. Small kitchen but no dishes or utensils available. Worst room condition I have seen in over 30 years!
The staff was nice. The manager even went home to get some kitchen utensils for us (such stuff doesn't come with the kitchenette. Go figure.)
Everything else. The place is filthy, toilet doesn't flush, sink stopper inop - in the stopped position. Oven was filthy, and some of the walls were torn up. Sheets are stained, door hinges are broken. It's amazing this place is allowed to be open.
dirty not kept up
Filthy room with heavy mold on window frames. Filthy spotted chairs , no light bulbs. Desk clerk accepted a wake up call when we went for a light bulb, no phone in room!!! We would have slept in our car but it was full of supplies for family vacation in Friday Harbor. This room is too dirty for children. We slept in our clothes on towels.
free wi-fi, took and charged for our small dog, ...
wall peeling away, frayed furniture, bathroom had no extra roll of TP, no bathmat, carpet stained….we've had much nicer & cleaner rooms for the price
Very run down, black mold in shower, had to ask both nights for clean towels. Kitchenette totally unequipped, stove unusable.
DIRTY and no light bulbs and a cracked toilet seat. THE WORST!!!!!
SMOKE and more Smoke!
This hotel is good for a one or two nighter while visiting the islands. Great location! If you want a Fancy hotel this one is not for you, it is very basic. Front desk person very helpful. Directed us to The Brown Lantern for some pub food. The best fish tacos we have ever had.
Not very inviting from the outside
