I will call it as a family friendly budget hotel. Location is within walking distance to city center tour & sight-seeing activities. Complimentary online ticket printing is what I value more. Hot towel for shower is what I have not seen in luxury 5 star hotel. All hotel facilities are neatly arranged even in such compact space. Room is considered small. However if you're spending 6 hours sleeping, it shouldn't bother much.

victorian feel, very clean everywhere (even shared washrooms), free coffee/hot chocolate in the main area, location close to fisherman's wharf room was very tiny, two of us could barely stand in there, no air conditioning in room so it was pretty warm. at times you did have to wait to use the washroom.

The hotel is unique and maybe not for everyone, but if you want to stay in a quirky hotel the heart of San Francisco and you don't mind a shared bathroom, then this is the place for you. staff were so helpful, the rooms cleaned daily, with plenty of fresh towels available around the clock. if your worried about the shared bathroom situation, there are enough to go around, out of our 5 nights, i think we had to wait 10 minutes one morning for the shower other than that we were straight in. walls are a little thin ;-)

Location, location, location! Rooms where small but that was ok since you where experiencing old SF and this hotel really has tons of historical charm! The shower situation was a little cramped, but you need for about ten minutes!

The location. Away from the touristy parts of North Beach and Fisherman's Wharf. A very residential feel. Excellent staff and very clean. Room was very small, only really suitable for one. Pillows not acceptable but the mattress was very firm.

Location, close to bus line and cable car stops, fisherman's wharf at a stones throw. Way too overpriced for a single room without breakfast nor bathroom.

A stay at the San Remo is so unique. Rooms are small but very clean and quaint. Having the baths down the hall is not a problem...actually you have a choice of several. The location is excellent, and staff very friendly! My only complaint is the stairs, as I am older and unfortunately don't seem to be able to travel lightly!

I liked both the location, centrally located in Wharf side area, and that the hotel itself is an old mansion, with clean, comfortable rooms. Both showers and lavatories were clean and attractive with white subway wall tiles and white diagonal floor tiles. Staying on my own, I felt comfortable and safe. The other guests were varied, couples and singles, young and young, middle aged. My cell phone was not working and there seemed to be no other way to reach desk. In the end, my sister who was staying elsewhere, lent me her phone. If that was not an option, I would have felt less secure. It would be an asset for travellers, especially from other countries, to have some access to hotel desk clerk, for information purposes or in cases of emergency.

the location of the Hotel meant it was within easy walking distance of Fishermans Wharf and the tram system the beds need replacing as the matresses were both uncomfortable and noisy.(this was the same in both rooms we had for our party) any movement throughg the night including closing doors could be heard making sleeping almost impossible. Insufficient bathrooms and showers on our floor. and with no hand basin in the room this meant quing up to wash hands after using the toilet.
