The doorman! A shout out to Brian!
No matter what you wanted STAR concierge were there and on the ball, well above and beyond. The porters, desk staff were also equally brilliant and the most friendly and accommodating I have experienced in my years of travel.
Food wasn't great at both the restaurants. It was ok, but only ate at both once. Staff in the restaurants weren't as friendly as the rest of the staff.
Room was small.
Great helpful staff and very good location near Times Square.
I wish I knew that it wasn't child friendly. Kids and staff were surprised to see us checking in a hotel with dim red lighting and dark black hallway from the entrance to the bar at the ground floor. Checked out the very next day.
All of the staff are extremely professional & friendly. The service of providing umbrellas on a rainy day was welcomed. Breakfast & free wi fi was an added bonus. Comfortable bed & pillows we upgraded to larger room which was worth paying for.
Noise of traffic during the night
Staff were extremely good and very friendly. The concierge were very knowledgable and all staff were more than happy to help and made you feel very welcome.
If I had to make a criticism it would be that the breakfast could have had more variety, perhaps a cooked version.
The staff are unbelievably helpful, friendly, and personable. They go the extra mile to make your stay top notch. They were informative with regards to NYC attractions, getting around NY, and everything in between. The beds are like sleeping on clouds and some of the best hotel beds anywhere. Toiletries are quality and the entire hotel is impeccably clean.
We had some issues with the a/c in our room not working but the staff were very responsive and accommodating in trying to get it fixed for us.
Location perfect, staff very helpful with time to help, room very modern and stylish. Room we had was away from the road so no road traffic and horns blaring. Breakfast was included and was continetal style but with plenty to eat. Off to a bad start but redeemed itself.
Room not ready at check in. We checked in at 1600 (earliest was 1500) and didn't get room until 1630. Bit noisy on Friday as was Columbus weekend. Lots of younf peoplein hiotel. Had to complain at 0045 due to noise. Hotel handled it vey well.
Location Style of Hotel - modern Great service Excellent Concierge
Small Room No natural light in room No facilities for tea coffee and none available early morning
They were genuinely concerned that we were happy with the service and comfortable. Any concerns were immediately rectified. The entire experience at the Sancruary was brilliant and highly recommended.
The location in the heart of the Theater District was outstanding, and the Staff was top-notch! Friendly & accomodating, they made us feel as if we were the most important guests in the hotel at all times.
The extra parking fee was disappointing.
The hotel has a kind of boutique appeal, with attentitive, efficient and friendly staff. For business, all you need is decent work space, shower, bed, safe - the bonus is free wi-fi and breakfast inclusive
Trying to be a bit too 'sexy' for it's own good - mood music on a loop, dark and sultry decor with a 'Sin City' appeal. Work/desk space inadequate for business purposes.
I thought the neighbor might have left the TV on but it was just some of the lights from Time's Square....! Good food at the restaurant downstairs
The rooftop bar was not very nice
All staff were excellent, friendly, helpful and courteous.
All areas of hotel were dimly lit which, when combined with the décor which was also dark, meant you were walking around being careful not to trip all the time.
Sanctuary is located in the perfect spot for those that wish to explore midtown Manhattan on foot. It's only two blocks away from Rockefeller Center, one block from the famed tkts booth in time square, and just a few blocks from the MoMA. If that wasn't enough, the staff is unfailingly friendly, resourceful, and eager to help. The room was spotless, and everyone seemed determined to keep every guest happy and comfortable. The room itself is simple but top of the line, and the bed very comfortable.
Don't get pulled in by the mini bar- everything is crazy overpriced. Also, it's best to avoid the hotel's actual restaurant if you prefer your meals to clock in under $100.
Fantastic location and fantastic staff. The Sanctuary is moments from Times Square and the Rockefeller building, walking distance to Central Park and a short distance from a subway line that will get you to downtown (ground zero, Statue of Liberty). Staff were wonderful, full of advice and extremely helpful. Talkative friendly and polite without interfering with your trip. Any questions, someone will have an answer and they gave that answer with a smile on their face!
The hotel has a bar on the roof which is open to the public which detracts slightly from having a "hotel" rooftop bar. It's very busy after 1800. Additionally it is very noisy because of the bar, I was on the 3rd floor (bar is on the roof of a 9 story building) and at times could hear the music. The pipe work is noisy (I assume it's the pipes), and makes a horrendously loud drill-like noise at random. The walls are also very thin.
Near Times Square but out of the crowds. Excellent staff.
Super helpful staff Small but comfortable rooms Great location Lovely rooftop bar Nightclub feel (but not for everyone)
No gym! Air conditioning in room is not great but our fault as we should have complained
It was very sexy! Definitely a great spot for couples to rekindle their romance. Loved the chandelier in our room. Rooms are sound-proof.
We were on a "Mystery Trip". 0f the four couples one couple plans the trip. The others find out the morning of the first day where they are going. ALL eight of us agreed strongly that the hotel was great and the staff and service were even greater! We highly recommend Sanctuary!
If there was one draw back, it was the close proximity to Time Square. It was a holiday and that really explains the massive crowds..... not the hotel's fault.
Location was prime, so close to time square, but not close enough that you could hear all the hustle and bustle of the busy NY streets. And staff were amazing, would do anything for you.
Very helpful staff. Excellent location.
Rooftop very noisy at night as there is a restaurant there. However, if you are a late sleeper or stay at a lower floor, that should be fine
Lauren and the staff were so lovely and welcoming. The location between the Rockerfella centre and Times Square was perfect and the subway was on the same block. The breakfast was all you needed and replenished often. The rooms were very sexy but weren't big, but it is NY. The roof top bar was great - we are both in our early 40's and fit in well. We had lunch one day there too and the food was plentiful.
The only thing that occurred was we were underneath a piece of machinery on the roof which gave off a vibrating noise all night on our first night. (room 904) We notified Lauren at reception in the morning and she arranged a new room and all our stuff to be moved while we were out site seeing. So in the end, there wasn't anything I didn't like.
The staff were amazing and made us feel very welcome. The roof top bar was beautiful and has amazing food. It was our 8 year anniversary and a bottle of wine was provided complintary
Brandon and Jimmy, the concierges, we're excellent. Both went above and beyond to ensure our visit was outstanding. Breakfast was really good too, with lots of fruit, cereal, scrambled eggs and nice little pastries. Location can't be beat - we walked to 4 of the 5 shows we saw!
We liked everything!
