So very old and worn, a space heater on the floor, plastic over the A/C unit, weak old doors, dingy, moldy bathroom, stained porcelain.
location of motel was good
room had no hear
Arrived at the Sands hotel. Check-in lady said she upgraded our room to an apt for no additional cost to us. Can't begin to imagine what the other rooms were like. We entered the room and it was very shabby looking. Everything in the room was old. TV in bedroom was sitting on a rusted table. Carpet was torn-up with jagged edges as if someone just ripped it. The bathroom shower was old and did not appear to be something that anyone wanted to get in for health concerns. I took one look at it and knew that I would not take a shower. The toilet did not work. We told the lady at the desk and she came and did something and said it works. It worked for 1 more use and then broke again. I fixed it by putting my hands in the filthy tank and it worked again. Then after the next use, it did not work again. In the morning it began to smell. The toilet ran all night but would not flush The bedspreads were so itchy that we had to turn them inside out to use them. We left the hotel and they did credit us back the next night, but we hadn't had a shower, were in a smelly room and did not get a good night rest. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Fishermen friendly! Large ice machine. Great Staff.
Gross black mold growing out of the wall a ton of water damage. dead bugs and alive bugs in the room. The shower needed a power washer to clean. Hotels nasty don't stay here.
I found the motel to be a great value. The staff was friendly and welcoming. It was a stones throw around the corner from the beach. The room was comfortable and we wish we could of stayed longer. Definitely will be staying again.
Oh this is the place that I will be stay from now on when I go to Ocean City. The staff was just awesome! And for the price it was great!
Well can't seem to think of anything that I didn't like. The only one problem that I had the staff bent over backward to correct it and it was fine. So nothing!
We knew when going that their rooms were basic and priced accordingly. When we arrived we did not expect the desk clerk to walk us to our room! Such a nice treat!! The room was clean and had a microwave and small refrigerator which was nice. Great location to beach and everything else. We were called back homedue to emergency at home and only stayed til 3am the first night of two night stay. When I called and spoke to Susan she kindly is giving us a night credit to come again. This place is truly a family run business and please understand if you are looking for flat screen tv and extravagant this is not for you. But if you want clean, hospitable and wholesome without paying a fortune then go to the Sands Motel. I am so glad we did.
Nothinh we did not like.
Great location, friendly staff, good price.
Outdated, water damage, peeling paint on walls, carpet was not clean.
Friendly staff clean room fairly comfortable bed
Water smeeled - rust/sulphur I believe plumbing needs upgraded
It was a great location next to the state park beach where you could allow dogs. The staff were all very nice.
Facilities need to be updated, but you get what you pay for.
Value n location and staff
Place falling apart n is up for sale
Good place to sleep at that's all we did. During bike fest
Not updated keep classic look to it
The beach location was fantastic!!!!!
Close walk to the beach.
The water was disgusting. Couldn't take a shower, brush our teeth or wash our hands. The water smelled of rotting eggs when you turned the faucets on, my boyfriend took a shower the first night before we noticed it and toweled off orange residue from his skin when he got out. The next two days (I'm assuming because if the exposure to the motel water) his fingernails turned orange!! I will never stay here again especially because every morning I had to go brush my teeth at the closest putt putt with a public bathroom while I paid $100 a night at my motel... Horrible!!
Look, don't be expecting a 5 star hotel. This place is cheap, but it has an amazing location, clean rooms, kind staff, and was more than comfortable. I will be coming back again.
The water smelled very metallic... but for a 2 night stay, it wasn't a huge concern. Everything else was lovely.
Pet Friendly, Clean Room, Great Staff, many channels on the tv, Great Privacy, Clean Pool, and Great Rates.
We have no complaints. We Love You All at The Sands.
The beds were not situated as in pictures on internet. Only one bedcould you see tv. We could not connect to internet. Not uup to date at all. Rusty faucets and floors were filthy, beds were very uncomfortable. Lounge chairs at pool were broken. Totally dissatisfied. Pics on internet very deceiving.
See above. Nothing I liked at all.
Well water with an iron smell, room with rusted structure, extremly tiny, very dirty, stinky, dog poop on the ground and old building. Never going back! Disgusting!
The location and the pool.
The motel is old and needs updated.
good, central Delmarva location...easy beach access
Hotel is very poorly updated everything old worn dirty
The location was great and our room was upgrade to an apartment. It was close to the beach and restaurants. It was very quiet and the staff was very courteous. The kitchen provided an option to prepare food in-house.
The sofa and bath tub were very dirty. Although the room was cleaned the tub needed a deep cleaning with a CLR type cleaner to remove rust. The microwave was dated and it took several attempts to warm water for coffee
We like older classic motels. I lived in Selbyville years ago and remember The Sands as a young child (1955). The staff was extremely cordial and accommodating. We enjoyed the microwave and refrigerator, and most importantly the pool! The beach is right behind the motel.
The bathroom fixtures have a lot of sediment build-up. A little Lime-Away would spruce them up. We have never liked the smell of well water, but that's just us. The plants around the pool need attention at Summer's-end. A little paint on the exterior and a new pool shed would help with the "tired" look. The ice machine worked beautifully, but, again, looks mean a lot, and that machine is a rust-bucket.
