Very helpful staff. We misplaced some cash prior to checking out of the hotel. When we rang later that day to enquire about it, the staff searched for and found it. Very pleased with their honesty.
It was very odd to go down into the parking garage... To an elevator hallway... To check in. I know there was conctruction going on... But there could have been a more creative solution.
Wi-if was good and the cleaning. The Bed was also good. Okey room but I expected more for the money. Also the free driving was perfect!
The breakfast was horrible and too little to eat. The gym was in renovation but iron gym was awesome! The room was too small for that money you paid and no pool area. No luxury and still quite expensive hotel. No restaurant only a bag with breakfast! Only sugar breakfast no alternative!
Obviously the Hotel was in renovations, which was well known. There was no notice of this until a day after the cancellation period had expired. This is sneaky and not going to encourage me to return.
Staff was friendly
Paying for parking in a hotel that is overpriced. I don't feel this is fair and is very un inviting for a return stay. Also the walls are incredibly thin. Everytime our neighbors flushed it would wake us up.. We stayed out late that night and the maids were yelling at each other in the hallway and woke us up. They proceeded to clean the room next to us, we heard the vaccume and everything being moved. As they cleaned the bathroom in the next room, we heard them flush at least 15 times, each time waking us up, again. For an Eco friendly hotel I thought this was a bit ridicous and not very courteous for the guests who are trying to sleep. For what is was worth and the cost of the hotel we will not be returning.
Very bad construction noise started very early at 8 am & the information about the hotel renovation wasn't available when we booked the room & money was non refundable! It was a bad experience.
Nice helpful staff, free transportation within 3 miles.
Planned power outage with no notice as part of the renovation. This hotel may be worth the price when the renovation is done, but carrying my luggage down 4 flights of stairs was not a good ending. I received a small discount for our inconvenience, but I think they should offer a general discount for the inconvenience of the renovation. I'd wait to stay until the renovations are complete.
Customer service was adequate, location was great, comfy bed. Overall adequate place for New Years eve stay. Not disappointed, just not impressed. It has way more potential than it currently shows.
Shower pressure was poor, drainage problem in bath, outdated television, no music player or charging dock in the room, no refrigerator access, lighting felt a bit like I was in a garage or kitchen.
I have stayed at the Ambrose many times in the past and always have chosen it because of the great first floor sitting area and outside sitting areas and wonderful breakfasts. I booked a room Nov 26-29 via the Ambrose link to the Booking website. There was no notification from either Ambrose or booking.com that the entire first floor of the hotel was under construction. Thus, no sitting area other than sit in the room and breakfast, just a cardboard box with a cup of fruit. The hotel charged its usual rates, including $22/day to park a car. This borders on fraudulent advertising. I have asked for reduced rates
Everything to which I had access. Especially appreciated their taxi which offered free service within a 3 mile radius, and driver Chad's interesting and helpful information. Not quite a mile to the beach, and the surrounding quiet neighborhood is good for walking, exploring, eating and shopping.
the renovation kept me from really experiencing the hotel, as all public areas were closed off. I will revisit when the work is complete.
I was close to St. John's hospital, walking distance. Bed was very comfortable. Clean sheets. Good ventilation. Slept perfectly. I wouldn't vacation here but it was perfect for staying close to the hospital.
Construction issues: noise, no lobby, you have to walk up and down the steep garage ramp so it is not handicap accessible except by car; breakfast is a boxed mini croissant and iffy fruit cup by the elevator. Other issues: incredibly dirty: stained carpets; air filter was filled with gunk- don't even look at it; tub didn't fully drain; icky factor.
Nicely presented room Excellent housekeeping Polite and courteous staff
No breakfast room Breakfast in a box Had to enter hotel via carpark Gym not avaiable due to refurbishment Not value for money
Staff were great and was easy to get to. Parking facilities good.
No prior notice of renovations and no consideration in tariff. Breakfast became a very light box brekky which was not good value.
Great free breakfast with fresh fruit and pastries.
Luckily they are renovating, feels tired and in need of some TLC.
A beautiful room with a great balcony. Wonderful bed and bathroom with bathrobes. Clean room. In american standard a good breakfast. A little different but nice breakfast seating. Perfect underground parking with elevator just there, to take you to your room. We did arrive late and that was no problem. The next day we left our luggage in the hotel so we didn´t have to have them in the car during the day. The service for that was very good but service could have been a little better from some staff. My husband went out early to get me strawberries and flowers for my birthday and he got very little help from a male staff-member. Overall it was a nice hotel and we would come back.
Room size, bedding, staff, location
Yummy fruit tons of choice. They even supplied a gluten fee muffin! Nice natural bathroom products too. I'll come back.
A bit pricey
Nice hotel on walking distance from Santa Monica. Friendly staff.
Breakfast room was a bit dark and not so much space/
location, good breakfast if you like likes carbs
It's was a little bit further out from Santa monica pier, however easy to get around with a car, and they offer there own transport. Staff were amazing and helpful
Lovely room, nice décor, quiet, nice complementary breakfast
Some of the staff was not really as helpful as you would think. Had no idea where things were in the area and when we asked for more towels they said "um, that's not our department". I didn't know hotels had specific departments...
There is own parking, $22 per night. Good groceries are in 2-minute walk.
Sufficient breakfast only at the weekend. We failed to order dinner from the menu as they were running out of some products.
I loved everything about this hotel. The decor is so California and cool. The staff was friendly and accommodating! The room was great, it had a balcony and was big. It offered free bikes to ride to the beach and a free shuttle within 3 miles. It's location was great. The breakfast was super!
They say breakfast was included - but breakfast without cheese, tomatoes? They served just bakery and fruit and wanted us to eat on the sofa... Bad treatment.
Great hotel just off the main tourist strip but close to everything in Santa Monica. The staff bent over backwards at every opportunity. They even have a luxury car/shuttle to take you anywhere in Santa Monica day or night. Best free continental breakfast ever with lots of fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, great teas, coffee, bagels, etc. highly recommended!!!
