heater in bedroom sent out cool air
The food at the rest at any should be better for the price
The Roosevelt mineral bath house
Most of the staff was absolutely excellent we did have one problem getting a shuttle over to the spa this was after the older gentleman had left and a younger man was minding the shuttle
The proximity to the spa and the staff were both high points. It was easy to get into town without feeling like you were in the middle of town
Our only complaint was the poor WiFi connection and speed.
The staff was polite and very attentive; they were ready to assist us with anything that we had asked. The hotel was beautiful & clean and our room was cozy with little extras like soft white robes, high thread count sheets, and a DVR. Although our stay was during the winter, there was much to do-snowshoeing, ice skating, cross country sking, touring the park... all on the hotel property! They even had a shuttle to & from the spa and local casino. The last day of our stay we went to the hotel spa for mineral baths, massages, and pedicures-it was a wonderful experience. We will definitely be going back in the spring and summer this year.
Windows a bit drafty.
Fine staff, lovely location and structure
beautiful historic inn that made us feel warm and cozy as soon as we drove up the tree lined lane. Great place to stay and then go to town for exploring, eating etc.
The beds are a little short. My husband is 5'11 and he felt as if his toes were at the edge.
The Setting is Beautiful!! The staff is friendly. The food and drink are good. Who could ask for anything more?
Broken section of venetian blinds, noisy mini-fridge in room and lack of cash register at restaurant were minor detractors.
Location, location, location! Lovely old hotel situated inside beautiful Saratoga Spa State Park. Comfortable room, stately yet cozy lobby area with twin fireplaces and a restaurant with a drawing-room feel. Complimentary shuttle to the Roosevelt Spa and downtown Saratoga Springs.
The building itself is in need of major repair and the inside is in serious need of a renovation. It is very sad, because the hotel could be so much more. The Staff was friendly, but it seemed there was nobody in-charge, ensuring things were taken care of. This place is run by Delaware North, a company that runs many hotels and food service for national parks. If you have ever stayed in a national park property, you will know what I mean when I say the experience could be so much more.... food is always just ok, and the buildings might be beautiful and historic, but room furnishing, etc. are always suspect. Not sure what Delaware North does with the profits, they certainly don't re-invest into training staff in hotel management or upkeep of the properties.
The Hotel is in a beautiful State Park and it is an Historic Property. We stayed in January, so the snow was beautiful to look at and we had a great time using the show shoes provided by the hotel for a walk to the Springs.
Room was noisy and a little too warm.
Chef made us eggs Benedict which was not offered on buffet. It was excellent!!!
I realize that the building is of historical significance, but more attention should be paid to the painted tub's chips and stains on the carpeting. Also, our tv remote was temperamental, and we reported it and were told someone would be right up to deal with it. When returned from doing touristy things, someone had obviously had a go at the problem, but there was no improvement. I expected superb and got only mediocre
The staff was effective, friendly, and polite. A real highlight was the bellman Alex. He couldn't do enough to make us feel at home. The Hotel was beautifully decorated for the holidays.
The restaurant could use some help and the property needs some refurbishing.
Great location and very nice staff.
paint peeling in tub
Beautiful atmosphere and appeal.
no closet, cramped bathroom
poor signage on trails
Hiking trails, golf, spa, hotel taxi service to local restaurants and sites.
-not clean -air conditioner so very loud -fight on the 4th floor from a member of the wedding party police had to be called front desk took nothing off the bill -in general needs a re face lift ie Bretton Woods NH -wonderful facility but needs work -went to the spa-massage was excellant but very noisy with baths running-doors slamming-had to cut thru the lobby in your robes-not a good set up
-beautiful grounds -perfect venue for the 2 day car show -wonderful backdrop of Saratoga Park
Bathroom. Shower leaking plumbing. Ceramic tub paint was cracked.
Staying at the hotel in non-racing season - bar was closed, restaurant was limited.
looks like it hasn't been updated since the Hoover Administration. Rooms too small. Saw more rocking chairs with elderly people than fruit flies (of which there were plenty in our room). Checked out early...obviously not what it once was.
location was the only positive
blinds in room were broken, paint on tile in bathroom is pealing off, found two corks behind a table from prior visitors, windows are dirty on outside of building. breakfast buffet is too expensive.
porch, very comfortable
not much to dislike unfortunately one night there was a false fire alarm at 3:00 am that the hotel staff did not respond well to - we had to call the front desk to be sure there was no emergency
historic hotel - State Park setting -location convenient to amenities and events - daily shuttle to the race track
restaurant service was lousy
grounds were very nice
No espresso machine anywhere on site !!! Luckily there is Uncommon Grounds not too far away...
Excellent shuttlle service (fun to quizz Mat on his movie knowledge:)
Putting half the sheet and blankets under the mattress is a ridiculous way to make beds. I had a terrible night. Also we stayed there because of its proximity to SPAC, but I'm handicapped and my grandson is on crutches. I was told there would be a shuttle to performance, but after waiting 15 Mins for ck at restaurant, we learned shuttle was "in town" and we'd need to get a cab.
Room was pleasant, and we were happy to stay so close to SPAC. Dinner was good, as was breakfast. I came at 10:28, but service was quite half-hearted.
The coffee in the pods provided with the coffee maker in the room was awful - you can do better. On the other hand, the free coffee in the lobby in the morning was excellent, as was the coffee in the restaurant.
Staff very friendly and competent. Good and prompt service. The shuttle service is wonderful.
