Location is convenient Bathroom- while the towels are sink were clean, the toilet seat should have been changed. The shower curtain was ripped so almost half hanging and the mold/dust on the top of the shower stall was like fur hanging from the top.

Friendly and helpful staff. Good location. Part of the rooms was renovated: walls, ceilings, new bed spreads. Small fridge (old but functioning), new microwave (but in room 14 there was no outlet nearby to plug it in), old TV with basic cable but no HBO, iron & ironing board, hair dryer, alarm clock, phone, Wi-Fi (all new). But because of what I listed below, it felt like touring the U.S. in the 70's or 80's and getting in one of those family-run roadside motels - large rooms with large beds, but otherwise only the basic amenities. Nice if you want to rough it, don't care too much for comfort, and want something not too expensive. But despite the relatively low prices, it was the only Bed & Breakfast (but without Breakfast, for heaven's sake...) listed in www.booking.com in the surrounding area which still had sufficient rooms for us (we had needed three). Also, there is a nice grassy area behind the motel with some wooden picnic tables and benches - great for families. This refers to room 17. Other than the positive remarks listed above, the floor had relatively new carpeting but with a few spots like burn marks. The furniture was rustic but old; one chest of drawers even had a knob missing. There were burn marks in one seat. I had to connect the phone to the phone outlet; the cable which was in the outlet alreayd led to the lamp socket's empty phone port. The building itself was not renovated: it had old windows with partially broken screens (and we got some bugs and mosquitoes in) and an old (but working) noisy air conditioner. Also, the room was a little dark. The bathroom was small with an all-plastic shower corner. The shower faucet was this ill-devised system which still exists even in many better hotels and apartments where the water temperature depends on the water pressure: to have warm water, you have to turn the faucet all the way until you have full pressure - you can't just have a little warm water. This is extremely wasteful and environmentally irresponsible; of course it's not the fault of the people who have the franchise (if that is how Americas Best Value Inns work), but the civil engineers folly. I mentioned above that there was no breakfast (an empty snack dispenser stood outside in the back; it wasn't clear whether it was going to be installed some day or had been taken out. There is not even a coffee maker in the rooms; at least there was a good breakfast place close by in Mystic. The winter/spring 2012 catalog of Americas Best Value Inns is the first to mention this motel (previously Sea Breeze Motel), "NYR" (not yet rated), but somewhere else on the internet it has 2 starts which I think are appropriate.

Americas Best Value Inn - 812 Stonington Road, Stonington Connecticut. The room was without water for two (2) days! NO TOILET or SHOWER !! Property owner/manager said "the well went dry." The entire property had no water. The owner/manager made NO attempt to have my room cleaned nor (as near as I could ascertain) any other room. This is totally unacceptable, I requested a refund for my stay but have not received an answer to my request.I want a refine of my stay. Do NOT STAY at this property!!

Bed comfortable, very quiet, location is good. Very small room. Amenities antiquated. Could barely walk around bed because of the table with refrigerator, microwave on it.

When I arrived, the door wouldn't open until the owner kicked the door in. The room smelled moldy and the towels were threadbare. The air conditioner was loud and didn't work too well; the room never really cooled down. I will never stay here again.
