Seaside Inn Monterey  

Very clean, friendly staff and great deal!

Rooms were well maintained, beds very comfortable and very clean. Good value for money but don't expect any extras.

I suggest stair wells could do with a makeover, to make outside look more inviting. Breakfast very limited but a new breakfast room is being built, so I hope for better things to come.

The owners are charming and willing to please. You can tell they take pride in their inn. The rooms have been remodeled recently - very clean and pretty. It was a great place if you drive to the area. It was pretty quiet even on the main road with easy access to shopping, dining, Monterey, the beach and the freeway. Very quaint, and extremely reasonably priced. Reminded me of motels I stayed at as a child on family vacations -only much prettier and much cleaner. It's really close to the best kept local dining secret in the whole area. And the inn gives free discounts! It's not luxury, but it was very: comfortable, clean, safe and a "heck of a deal". In the adequate size room we had a microwave,frig and a big tv with lots of channels. Best place for the money - I'd go again.

Just a clarification: I would have mentioned that it was a "continental breakfast". But it was just right - lots of coffee with creamer and danish. There were even several large muffins.

The hotel room was very clean. The tv was a relatively new flat screen and the bed was large and comfortable. The bathroom was clean too. I liked this hotel as it was well priced and suited my needs of a one night stop over however I'd definitely return for longer. There's a supermarket and some take-away restaurants across the road. I'd definitely recommend this hotel and return based on cleanliness and price.

The receptionist was friendly enough to do her job however didn't go out of her way. It was merely to check me in and that's it.

Fantastic value for the money. I was worried this was going to be a dive, based on the price, but it was lovely. Huge room, wonderful shower. Speedy and cheery service at check-in. Larger fridge than one usually sees in a hotel room. On a quiet street.

A bit of chemical cleaner smell was the only negative of my room. Better than any other I've stayed in at this price. Everything else was as good as or better than the $125 hotel room I had the night before!

Very friendly staff and clean, cheerful room. Comfy bed, also. Simple accommodation, value priced. Worked for us, as we didn't go there to spend time in our room.

The Seaside Inn is extremely clean and quite comfortable, exterior is quaint, cute paint and with roses adding to its charm. The staff are all friendly, polite and helpful. Location is a block from shopping - Costco, Target, etc, and close to all sorts of restaurants. We visit Monterey a few times each year and feel like we have discovered a treasure in finding the Seaside Inn. We won't be staying in the more expensive hotels we've visited in the past any more because Seaside Inn surpasses them in every way.

Towels are pretty thin and there were holes in the sheets, the drains ran slow in the tub and sink.

I was reluctant to stay but after seeing the room felt better. It was small, but clean. Their parking lot was miniscule - but pretty well enclosed and no mishaps. It just seemed like an industrial/business area at first glance - and not near the beach - but it was cold anyway. It was a much better value than the nearby places in Monterey/Carmel - but minutes away.

I really had no complaints about the facility - just that the booking was non-refundable - which is kind of iffy when choosing places thru the internet.

It was clean and inexpensive for Monterey.

The desk clerk was the elderly father of the owner. The room was not on the ground floor as requested and so he changed us to a different room which had no towels or toilet paper etc. The bedding was inadequate with paper thin pillows (one each).There wasn't any coffee in the morning until after we had to check out (7:30). I would barely rate this as 2 stars and we usually stay at 3 or 4 stars.

I accidently left my cell phone home and made two quick phone calls, non- collect, to let my two daughters have the phone number of the hotel in case emergency and the price on those two , quick-less than 1 minutes calls were outrageous price of $21 and the other $18 which this should be listed that these calls are soooooo expensive - I would have never made them had I known.

very basic standard, no real breakfast

Unless you parked early, I would have to park on the street. I had to ask the office each day to allow my key to work. Gentlemen did not understand English too well. The giants/Dodgers game was only on tv in Spanish. No way to allow English broadcast, even though the pre-game and post-game were in English. Price was fine. Room service took all my recyclables. I hope they recycle. I had put them aside. I had to ask for drinking glasses. They only provided 1 in a plastic wrap and and none the other two days. Ran out of kleenex first night.

Had difficulty finding parking at night. Bathroom smelled like urine. Couldn't change channels with remote.
