The sign to the property was the nicest thing about this "Inn(?)." It is a run down motel on a nice piece of property. Sheets were clean.
No heat, shabby interior, limited WiFi through a hotspot, old and run down. Poor value for the money. Very surprised as I checked many sites for ratings. A marathon held that weekend filled most upscale hotels/motels in area.
There was no heat. Door knob in bathroom broken Everything was old. Told by staff heat was not turned on as they are tearing down the motel today. We changed to Ramada Inn.
In its four or five decades on a hill overlooking the ocean, Sea View has developed a dedicated cadre of nostalgic travelers who believed it was the best-kept secret on the island. Always affordable, its simple wooden white- washed exterior had the unassuming feeling of a summer house with a long porch open to ocean breezes and big rooms with eclectic furniture. In the next 18 months it will become a sleek and expensive Cambria Suites, but many a tear will be shed by those who knew and loved it.
loved the location close to first beach, easy cab ride downtown for the night. not a glamorous place but certainly comfortable for a family or young couple to enjoy newport
changed the credit card on file to charge the room to upon arrival. issues with releasing the pending charge from the original card.
location was OK
place was filthy and poorly maintained
Location was ok for getting back and forth to Newport. The price was reasonable.
The rooms need major updating. The paint was peeling. There were spiders in the bathtub and a small refrigerator would have been nice.
The room was big. I had a king size bed and a view of the ocean. Worth every penny.
Moldy bathroom, paint peeling off walls, smelly
Very inexpensive, clean and comfortable. Don't spend much time in the room except to sleep so perfect for business or active traveler. Staff was great!
Closing on October 13, 2014 to be torn down to make way for another 5 Star $500 per night hotel resort. Running out of affordable options in the Newport area fast.
The only good thing about this place is location. Not too far from new port and has a nice view.
Very disappointed as we arrived. The room is very old and in a poor condition. The smell in the room is not pleasant. The bed is very hard. Blanket smells dirty. I must say it was the worst night sleep I ever had in years. Definitely not worth the money I paid for.
Staff was helpful, view was pretty, it's much cheaper than staying in newport and convenient to the fun newport stuff,
Dirty carpet, uncomfortable beds, internet was really slow (because we were farther from the office), breakfast was bleak, I hear they're going to tear it down and build a new hotel, so that might explain why it was so run down.
Honestly, there wasn't anything we liked about this place.
The high price for such a low quality hotel, even if it was Labor Day weekend.~the room had a musty smell to it when you opened the door~ the carpet was covered with stains!~ The windows were filthy,~we each only had one facecloth, one bath towel, and one hand towel( which we had to share). The king sized bed had three small pillows and there no more. We skipped the free breakfast as it unsavory.
Worst place I ever stay at. When your granddaughter wakes you up at 1am screening that there this big spider on her pillow then you look around and found more that did give us another rm but you couldn't walk outside without spiders. Not pleased at all the day we checked out others where also complaining about all the spiders and spider webs.
The inn was a great location for a trip to the Newport area. Very close to the beach, restaurants and cliff walk. The inn was quiet and safe. The staff was very friendly and helpful in making suggestions for things to do nearby.
I was disappointed in the continental breakfast. It offered cereal and supermarket muffins and bagel although the coffee was ok. Yogurt would be a nice addition. The inn itself is a bit run down and in need of renovating.
Warm welcome. Friendly, caring staff. Convenient location. Nice view.
Smelly room. Old decor. All-carb breakfast.
The location was classic
Room had a slightly musty smell
The Staff was great. The view was nice.
The rooms were old and the rugs had a musty smell. Says walking distance to the beach which is close to a mile.
We loved the closeness to Newport and the view of the water was so calming. The room was clean and basic but that was all we needed.
The building is being torn down and being replaced by a 5 star hotel. Where will I go now?
Shabby looking hotel inside and out.
cheap the person managing the place where great.
room are depressing. close the beach but the walk is like walking next to an intrsate
Accommodations very dated, the bathroom especially.
It was away from the noise of Newport. We had a great view of the harbor; it was peaceful sitting on the deck. Bed was comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
A small refrigerater would have been nice, but we managed fine putting ice in the cooler each day.
Staff was very pleasant. View was fabulous. Bedding was comfortable.
The whole place is falling apart. Broken drawers, missing floor boards, paint chipping everywhere. This was a complete dump. We couldn't imagine how this place rated a score of 6 from previous guests. Rooms don't have end tables or lights. Water doesn't drain from sink or tub and the toilet runs all night long. We paid $300 and the place was not worth $100.00.
Newport area needs more economical options of stay like this one.
