Dinner was excellent. The place was quiet and staff friendly
Nice location. Large room with excellent bed. Complimentary wine reception each evening. Lovely pool area. Breakfast food was good although fairly expensive.
There seems to be a discrepancy between what the Amara would like to be and what it is. This is not a cheap hotel. There was absolutely no information in the room about the hotel or area. We wanted coffee in the room but there was no list of internal numbers. When we did eventually order it one of the cups had lipstick on it. The bathroom has no towel rails or hook and the mirror above a very small basin is in the middle of the wall making it difficult to shave. The breakfast room was frankly dirty . The windows very dirty and tables and chairs dusty. We stayed at a Best Western premier on the previous 2 nights and really it was better and much less money. This could be a really nice experience but needs far more attention to detail for the premium price.
I like everything, beds, staff, and locations.
Best hotel & spa.
The hotel offers valet, wine, yoga and a shuttle around town at no additional cost. We arrived our first night towards the end of the free wine hour and the woman in charge gave us more drinks at once than usual since we had missed most of the hour. The front desk staff was helpful on places to eat and visit. The valets were incrediblely friendly and helpful every time we interacted with them. The grounds were beautiful and offered a lot of things to see and do on site - we had unseasonably warm weather and got to enjoy much more of the resort than if it had been colder. The hotel was within walking distance of several restaurants and shops.
Seems like some of the communication could be better. We called from our room for our car and when we got downstairs the valet didn't know what we were talking about - it didn't take long to get the car at that point, just not what we expected. We also took the shuttle one night and had to call twice to get it to pick us up from dinner. Waiting for 45 minutes in the cold was not ideal. Again it appeared to be a communication issue.
Friendly staff from the car valet to the person who served wine at happy hour. Great decor and very individual style so it felt like home.
Room, location and view are wonderful. It is in the center of uptown Sedona but is nonetheless in a quiet, semi-secluded location. They have free valet parking and have a car which will take you within a mile of the location.
Lack of information about tourist attractions and the fitness classes. I did not like their restaurant which has a limited menu.
Loved the hotel atmosphere and friendliness of the entire staff. Beautiful pool and lawn area with magical view of the red rocks. Restaurant served healthy food and vegetarian options and the spa and yoga classes were excellent.
location was great, staff was very friendly,
overpriced for the value, wifi was poor and could only get signal in room, hot tub was dirty.
My entire experience was wonderful. Only wish I could have stayed longer.
Great Location, large room, decent view, happy hour.
Room smelled like 'cleaning fluid', I tried to switch to another room, but it had the same odor. The hotel had VERY few amenities for the price we paid. I was expecting a larger lobby area and more sitting areas inside, like maybe a lounge. We also had to pay extra for internet service - this was unexpected! Overall, we liked the hotel but it certainly wasn't worth the high price...
Honestly this was the most wonderful place for me and my 3 children. The salt water pool and spa where fantastic. The free yoga class in the morning was blissful. The eucalyptus steam room was so cleansing and relaxing. The beds where so comfortable. I could just rave on and on. The views could almost make you cry with joy.
Excellent location and views. However for this price I am expecting more from a hotel than just providing an excellent location. Efficient valet parking service.
We arrived at 1pm, room was not ready and staff did not even give the option to leave the luggage in the room until 3pm. Once room given, they did not expedite luggage in the room and we had to pick it up ourselves. Toilet flush broken. Totally disproportionate price/quality ratio. Location does not make it all for a hotel.
Friendly efficient at tentative service Excellent spa - well trained and experienced masseurs and cosmeticians
Could never got hot water for a pot of tea … always luke warm. International visitors like a hot cup of tea.
Location, pool area with fire pits
They treated us like royalty. We loved it!!
Beds. View. Staff. Comfort. Situation.
My friend and I stayed two nights at the Amara and had a great time! Our room was spacious and clean. The level of service is very high--complimentary valet for your car, and a free shuttle available on demand to take you anywhere within 1 mile of the hotel--so basically, just about anywhere you might want to go on the main stretch of road through Sedona. The location is perfect--just removed enough from the main road to feel secluded (if you don't know what road to turn on, you would never know the hotel was there), but a convenient and short shuttle ride or walk up the hill from shops and restaurants. The hotel restaurant serves GREAT food, although it is on the pricier side. We loved our dinner there. The spa services are excellent, and there is a wide variety to choose from. Staff was really friendly and accommodating. Overall, it was a splurge, but for a short trip it was very well worth the money!
The spa is a little on the small side (men and women share one large pre-treatment lounge space, although there are seperate locker rooms. I've never encountered that before, so it was a little awkward at first to see strange men walk in while I was sitting there in my robe lol, but I got over it quickly.). It is not really a negative though; the spa is great, I was just surprised and thought it worth mentioning.
The valet was great and suggested hiking trails with printouts. Beds and bathtub are comfortable.
I was forced to join some club in order to get WiFi, and spent 2 hours trying to join on an iPad, with receptionist help. I was told there was no other option for Wifi. After 2 hours when I threatened to check out another receptionist gave me a password to bypass the lengthy joining process and I was able to log in right away. Wish they'd told me that before I made a big stink so I could have enjoyed an extra 2 hours of vacation. This is an expensive resort and I expect staff to be attentive. Amara receptionist didn't care at all that I struggled for 2 hours with connectivity issues.
good location right in central tourist area nice staff -friendly good restaurant for breakfast
steep climb to walk up from hotel to street-but good for you !
families with children and pets could be located in rooms in an area located within one of the wings of resort. (one building)
The staff was particularly excellent.
Rooms are nicely appointed. Plenty of TV channels.
I would recommend any booking this resort to request a room on the second floor,as you could hear every movement from the people above when we had a room below.
