Appreciated the free upgrade on the top floor. Very cool and packed bar downstairs. Cool interior design of lobby, halls, and rooms
The bed was the most comfortable bed that we ever slept in at a hotel! The staff was above board! They went the extra mile to make sure that we were comfortable..
I missed having a lighted makeup mirror in the bathroom.
Customer service was Awesome! Very friendly and super helpful
The bathroom in the suite we were in was very very small
Offering the valet parking as complementary for Hotel guest as hotel rate is quite high.
Valet parking is very expensive $36 per night. Its true that smoking was not allowed, but I wished that the Hotel designated a proper place for the guests instead of going out to street.
The room was lovely - clean and beautifully appointed. The Sentinel was very charming over all and the staff was helpful and friendly.
The bus/trolley going by outside the window regularly all night made it hard to get a good night's sleep. The valets were very service oriented but I like knowing where my car is at all times.
wonderful location, friendly staff, and much attention to detail.
Cannot think of anything
Very convenient location， short walk to pioneer square, 20 mins walk to pearl district. Welcoming staff and amazing decoration.
The fan is loud, bedroom can be brighter.
Best hotel staff probably of anywhere I have stayed, very accommodating, pleasant and helpful.
A lot of street noise on the side of the hotel we were on.
Excellent valet and front desk staff. Very friendly. One of the best hotel gyms I've seen! Local amenities in the room were a nice touch, as was the easy to read "menu" of hotel services.
While the bathroom was updated, the actual shower and bathtub look like they didn't make the cut for the remodel. The staff at the Jackknife bar could take come customer service lessons from the front desk staff. Having to order food and drinks at the bar when I'm sitting at a table is annoying.
Love the decor...while keeping the vintage feel you've also made it trendy. The staff was amazing and customer care is obviously a priority.
Location Style Staff
Price for valet parking ($36) way too high
The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and the linens are very good quality. The decoration of the room is very nice. Good quality TV and reception. The location is very good. Easy walking to the waterfront and right on a tram line. Easy area to cycle from. The hotel had secure storage for bicycles
The fan was extremely loud. They need better lighting in the rooms
Excellent location, friendly staff. Nice bar and restaurant, good valet service. Having a Starbucks is a plus.
Our room had only two small drawers, not sufficient for our needs. The seat of the WC was not comfortable. Little space for toiletries.
Very good location. Staff knowledgeable of area and helpful with directions. Maps were printed and suggestions made. Most suggestions were excellent for a first time in Portland. Valet services very fast. Breakfast in room was excellent. The light above bathtub was replaced promptly.
Room was small. Bed too firm and we woke with sore lower backs every day. Room very dusty. When I requested it be dusted, the staff smirked and did not respond to the request. I came back to room late in the evening to undisturbed dust on all surfaces. I doubt it is dusted more than monthly due to the amount of dust present. Requested additional bar soap and was met with a bit of resistance, then had a stack of 5 bars placed on the toilet. Doorman/valet seemed a bit lazy and more than half the time I walked right past him and let myself in without any acknowledgement. Room service did not bother to uncover food and I needed to spend a frustrating severaI minutes prying the plastic wrap off every dish. For the $450 cost per night, I would have liked a cleaner room, a more attentive doorman and less resistance to simple requests. Oh, the bathroom fan was poor and odors got into the small room, making my girlfriend a little embarrassed and the light above the bath was out, making it impossible to shave. She also was a little dismayed by the poor lighting that forced her to do her makeup in the small entryway mirror while standing.
Location is excellent to all areas of downtown Portland. Beautiful room and professional but friendly staff.
Beautiful hotel and fantastic location. Loved the gym. Jack Knife's Bar had the best vegan burger we've ever had!
Very comfortable bed
There were many hotels closer to the sights downtown Paper-thin walls with frisky neighbors
This is a beautiful hotel with a friendly and helpful staff. We had a beautiful room with an outstanding corner balcony. When you walk into the hotel make sure you look up to the ceilings. They are gorgeous!! The hotel has direct access to Starbucks and Jake's. There are many other restaurants and shopping close by.
We have stayed at the Sentinel (Portland Governer) before, so we always enjoyed our stay. We were repeat customers.
This most recent stay at the Sentinel surprised us when we were charged $210 for the first night, $260 for the 2nd night, and $310 for the 3rd night. Sunday - Tues. The explanation was that the rates were dependent on how busy the hotel was. It seems like an excuse to be able to charge higher rates since we were unaware of the sliding scale before we checked in. I doubt that we will stay again.
The desk staff was great. The bed was very comfortable. The room was large. A special shout-out to the valet staff who were very on top of things.
WiFi was spotty. The business center for printing out boarding passes was rudimentary and still had software to charge $1.80 a page for printing (though the charge didn't appear on the bill).
The room was clean and the bed very comfortable.
The gas fireplace and the small refrigerator were not working. When I told the reception desk, they said no fireplaces worked and that they would look into fridge problem. They never did. Also, ceiling in bathroom had some serious water damage.
Service was excellent and the room was great.
Loved it all.
The Governor Hotel is beautiful and in a perfect downtown location. Upon arrival we were given a complimentary upgrade from the friendly front desk staff. We also appreciated the opportunity to lower the price of parking by using a nearby lot ourselves instead of valet.
The room service food quality was lacking- especially for the price. It was beautifully presented, but salad was wilted and old.
