It's the most wonderful place with the loveliest owner who is friendly and hospitable. The rooms are large and luxurious. It's a big old house with character and excellent design. I met other lovely guests. The owner invited us to a party she had. It was great. Brooklyn is a place tourists miss but it's nice and quiet and the guesthouse is near a large park and the Brooklyn botanical gardens.
Super friendly, helpfull host. You feel like at home. The whole atmosphere is what probably makes it so special. Don't miss the chance to stay at this place.
Excellent location just 5 minutes away from the subway (Q,B) station. Very nice building in a quiet street. Excellent host and room. Great value for the money. Brooklyn is the place to be right now, Prospect Lefferts Gardens is a beautiful neighbourhood very close to Prospect Park and Park Slope, and just a short subway ride from Williamsburg and Bed-Stuy. If you want a nice place, with a nice room for a great price this is it.
I travel a lot. Serenity at home is truly one of the best accomodations i came across. Because its not just a nice accomodation, its a real home from home. Me and my teenage son had a bedroom, bathroom with a bathtub and a living room with a sofa. The house is charming with hardwood floors and high ceilings. The pictures on the webpage reflect the actual situation. The location is safe and you can explore right there a different more diverse and interesting side of new york. There is the nicest coffeeshop around the corner and a beautiful park just steps away. Q train takes you right to manhatten in 20 min if still want to go.
I had a realy good time at Serenity at home. It's a beautiful decorated, old house. Zenobia makes time for your qeustions and is a special woman. The neighbourhood is nice and Serenity is close to the metro station. I loved my stay in Serenity and I would absolutely go there again if I went to New York.
Loved the area
The lack of water pressure It felt like I /we were a burden to the ownet/manager.
Handsome building over 100 years old. The integrity of the building has been left in tact, so the room sizes are a little odd, but worth the atmosphere. Lovely back garden sitting area. Excellent hostess. I'll stay here again.
We had a lovely stay at Serenity. The house is beautiful and well kept. Zenobia is very helpful and friendly, has lots of advices for travellers and makes sure everything's perfect for her guests. Close to the subway, in a quiet street, much better than staying in Manhattan.
Breakfast is not served during the weekend, but there are a few shops close to the subway station (10min walk from the B&B).
Convenient to subway and grand army plaza and brooklyn museum Nice bath and kitchen. Pleasant staff
Was NOT given a room in the house I rented from, nor was it the room with sitting area I had been told I would have. The room I was given was in another house across the street and had no sitting space. Also, no shades on the windows to keep out light.
the atmosphere, the host, and the place, great place to stay
The Serenity house is over a hundred years old and it shows. The house is charming but in various stages of disrepair. Inattentive host. She was very nice at our arrival but after that, we never saw her again. Brooklyn is in the midst of a renaissance of sorts. Lots of new stores & shops and a general cleanup of the city. Unfortunately, the neighborhood Serenity house is in must be last on the list. The neighborhood streets are beautiful and tree lined but the main streets are littered with trash. I didn't feel safe traveling the neighborhood in the evenings. The location is good however for connecting to the subway system.
The owner is a wonderful hostess, room, kitchen, and bathrooms are spacious and clean, and the house is full of character and charm.
The only minus was the lack of centralized a/c, which is really a feature of a century old house. The window unit did it's best, but sometimes just couldn't keep up with the humid hot weather. Large windows that could be opened up make up for the problem somewhat.
Beautiful old house, very close to subway and Prospect Park. Spacious suite, in an old-fashioned Brooklyn townhouse with lots of art and music inside. Friendly, warm landlady ready to help make our stay more comfortable. Reasonable price.
Nice outdoor garden, room clean and comfortable, located near my family, bathroom clean.
Staff not clear about breakfast aspect of stay (it was touted as a B&B, after all). Plenty of food in fridge but instructions not to use stove. Not clear what food was for. Only a container of granola set out but no milk to put on it. Was asked on second day if I wanted a bagel. No thank you. No one available at check-out time. No soap (only body wash). No TV. Can't wear shoes in house. Surrounding neighborhood a little sketchy. Wouldn't want to be walking alone after dark.
Serenity at Home truly lives up to it's name. A beautiful and quiet home to get back to after a day in busy downtown. Everything is clean, the room is spacious, the king size bed is fantastic and Zenobia's hospitality is super sweet. SaH is definitely a keeper for next visits.
I love this place! Zenobia made me feel so welcome and comfortable. I found it to be the perfect balance between feeling like a home and feeling like a special treat. The house is both elegant and homely. I will be staying here again.
Owner was very nice. It felt like I was at home! Location was convenient for access to the train.
Absolutely fell in love with serenity the moment we stepped in. a truly "New Yorker" experience. the rooms were cozy, sexy and full of character. The host (Zen) a total gem and made us feel right at home. will definitely be back.
didn't stay long enough :(
