The hotel was surprisingly wonderful. The staff were super friendly and their facilities outstanding. It had a welcoming feel to it right from the staff behind the counter. That was at once warm and amicable. I especially love the evening offer of wine and the morning offer of coffee. Very nice touch to really show customers they are appreciated!! A seemingly small gesture that will keep me going back there. Thank you.

Convenient, friendly and clean. Rooms were relatively small but clean and neat. Staff was friendly and helpful. Front desk said we could walk-in to the restaurants for dinner for those that they recommended which was not the case. Reservations were needed. Liked the wine-tasting event. Some hall noise in the evening.

Great location - my wife is disabled, and she was really happy with the room, so big thanks to reception staff for meeting her needs very well - wine reception was very good - we had a chance to relax and meet fellow guests - we had previously stayed in a Kimpton hotel in Chicago, and were very happy that this one was just as good.

The lobby was beautiful. The staff was extremely helpful. The room was small. The bathroom was outdated and ungodly small. The mini bar was not of any interest to us and overpriced. It would have been nice to use the refrigerator. The bed was lopsided and uncomfortable. The small desk chair was not comfortable. It would have been nice to have a coffee maker in the room. Does not compare to surrounding hotels.

Free wine every day from 6-7. Great business center and fitness room and the location is second to none when staying in downtown San Francisco. There's a chance that you will get one of their king or queen rooms which are tiny. Holiday rates are astronomical too.

The Serrano San Francisco is a beautiful boutique hotel located in short walking distance to the main shopping area. The stay was very comfortable, the beds were great and you didn't hear much from the city. It is located at the shed between luxury life and poverty. If you want to avoid to see too much of the life of the very poor in the city approach from West (Union Square) or South (Geary Street). The bathroom was smaller than mine at home - no problem for a single man but not ideal for a lady who needs a longer 'preparation time' in the morning. Nevertheless the bathroom is stylish.

It was easy to find from Powell street, and easy access to Bart and the Muni buses from there too. Hotel staff provided good directions for walking about the city. Really didn't spend much time at the hotel other than to sleep, so I couldn't say much about activity's during the day or evening. Not much to say here, it's in a large city, with big city stuff going on all around, city noise if you will. $24.00 a day city tax on the room adds up.
