The decor was very tastefully done and it was probably the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. Definitely would recommend it to everyone.

The hotel has a lot of 'Alaskan' character and is comfortable. The front desk staff was rude. I found them to be unfriendly and curt - except the wpoman on our departure morning who said she was from near our home in California. She was friendly and helpful. The restaurant eating area is tiny. To make up for that, they have decorated some small rooms on the first floor, adjacent to the dining room. They are very cute. However, the odors from that area are enough to take your appetite away. The rug or something smells musty.

Centrally located. Staff was extremely nice. Rooms were very comfortable. Hotel was more expensive than what we usually pay and more expensive than what you would usually pay in a small town like Seward, but Alaska in general is expensive (I guess hotels and restaurants only have 3-4 months (mid may to mid Sept) to make all their money.

Very nice Hotel for Seward area. Good restaurant, good food, high priced for area and for season. Ak in summer time is very high priced, went there for business, not for vacation so had to pay very high rates. Off season should be much cheaper - I hope?? Overall very good experience, nice people, nice place Wanted to open windows but one window would not open and the other would not work using the hand crank, had to take off the screen to manually open and close it. This particular rooms window also was right next to other rooms windows where they could see into my room, that was a bit uncomfortable not knowing if they were looking into my room with the windows and open???

Staff was amazing, accommodated our long list of special requests with a smile. Fantastic location, yummy restaurant (breakfast portions were huge). Shuttle was very convenient. Would absolutely stay again, so many amazing, active things to do in Seward. I wish we could have stayed for more than a few nights. No air conditioning but they have fans in the room to put by a window. I don't know if it would ever get warm enough to be an issue though (i run hot, when the staff told me no ac they offered up extra fans, didnt seem like something tbey get regular complaints about). We were worried about mosquitoes coming in the window but it wasn't an issue.

Had a warm, comfortable demeanor about it. Lobby appointed with Alaska (stuffed of course) critters, and museum-like pieces of Alaska living, and old photos of Seward. Looks like rooms were refurbished recently, and were very nice in size and furniture. Beds very comfortable, and room size adequate. We were three adults (my grown nephew and his wife) and the two queen-sized beds did us well. A shuttle came by to pick us up for our Kenai Boat Tour in plenty of time, and driver pointed out good places to eat, and even an eagle's nest w/chicks, which we returned to photo later. All in all, a great experience, and value. I'd definitely stay there again. Nice introduction to quaint downtown area. Nearby Blue Moose gift shop a must to stop by. Had to park on street, and move to lot 1 block away while they swept streets at 4:00 am as no room left in their specific parking lot. But, this was an extremely small inconvenience and would not hamper our decision to stay thete again. Good side is...Seward cleans its streets!!

The location was great and the hotel restaurant was decent. We requested/booked a 2 queen room and received a 1 queen w/fold- out couch room. The mattress on the bed was saggy, old and offered very little sleeping comfort and the fold-out couch bed was worse. Not great for $150/night off-season.

It is very 'Alaskan' in decor and feel. It is advertised as 'historic' and indeed it gives off the air of being and old, historic building in Seward (but has been newly renovated). it is not good value for money - but then again everything in Alaska is relatively expensive compared to the Lower 48.

Nice lobby. Restaurant & bar quite good. Rooms need upgrade. Parking can be a challenge. If we did it again, we would have booked on the waterfront for about the same price.
