Hotel Shangri-La    

Posizione fronte mare e nello stesso tempo anche molto vicino allo shopping sulla promenade di santa monica. Staff gentile, giovane e sorridente anche se poi l'ultimo giorno si sono dimenticati di darmi la sveglia la mattina e ho rischiato di perdere un volo!

La struttura è visibilmente vecchia e le camere hanno un'illuminazione scarsissima. L'hotel ha usato molto I colori del grigio nelle camere e questo insieme ai punti luce deboli o in alcuni spazi completamente inesistenti rendono l'atmosfera molto tetra. Tutte le finestre dei bagni affacciano sui corridoi quindi anche le tende devono essere ben chiuse!

La struttura è recente, molto curata ed il personale cortese e disponibile. La nostra camera era particolarmente carina, con la vasca che si affacciava, tramite un'ampia vetrata, sulla camera da letto (ovviamente con tendina per la privacy). La posizione è ottima per chi vuole godersi la vista sull'oceano. PS: per chi si muove in macchina, qualsiasi attrazione di Los Angels si trova al massimo a 20-30 minuti di distanza, e sicuramente come location è molto meglio della città stessa.

Fantastic location on the seafront - adjacent to hundreds of shops and restaurants. Helpful and friendly staff. Smart Art Deco-design rooms. Cleanliness and attention to detail. Perfect for a birthday treat or romantic break.

We liked the location

The rooms are very small and the when we booked through you it said a king bed or a queen bed. In our opinion it will always be a queen bed. I had to ask to switch rooms which they graciously did. Also, only way to get ice is through room service and there is no way to get bottled water or soft drinks except through room service.

The ambience of this hotel is amazing. It is a beuatiful Art deco hotel. The staff make you feel very welcome and are very helpful. We had an ocean view room with views to Santa Monica pier. It is close to the promenade and great shopping.

Location on the beach, and the view from the rooftop bar. The Art Deco styling made it a stand-out relative to the normal "could be anywhere" chain hotel.

My stay was fine (apart from a glitch with the bill on check-out, which was quickly resolved), but i would make a couple of general observations: Standard room would be cramped for a couple (ok for a solo traveller). Having the shower inside a high-sided bathtub would also be difficult / dangerous for older travellers.

upgraded to a suite upon arrival, was amazing. staff was very help full car service from airport was great used the driver for a few days totally worth it. gym is awesome as well.

Staff customer service was excellent. (Above and Beyond) Staff acted on our request to change room without hesitation.

Poor (Dim) room lighting. Initially allocated a wheel chair access room with no view.

The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Checking in and out was a breeze and I was wonderfully surprised to find out that my room had been upgraded to a suite for free.

No free coffee in the room for the morning like most hotels only a coffee maker. No guest services book in the room informing of what services I could find and use inside the hotel.

From the time we arrived the staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities are very clean and well maintained. Had a great time!!

design was superb tho I doubt the decorator ever stayed in our terrace suite -- when the sun comes up, the light shines thru glass wall and mirrors onto bed! Pool areas also beautiful but unstaffed in January.

wifi access slow and need different code for each floor. Same mirrored wall in bedroom shows thru to bedroom when anyone is in there doing anything!
