The use of a roof top bar which unfortunately we could not use as it was closed
No Wifi in bedroom
Room was nicely decorated, spacious and held a good range of facilities. Location is very central. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The bar/restaurant is appealing with an atmosphere of a 'local' rather than a sterile hotel bar.
I thought it was on the expensive side but I guess this is New York! There is better value to be had in most of the European capita cities.
The location was perfect for our stay. My husband and I stayed here for 7 nights in a one bedroom suite, the room size was huge for New York. We were in town for a family wedding, so location was definitely a factor of why we choose this hotel out of so many other choices. It was central to everything. The price was pretty good for the room size.
The mattress needs to be replace, It felt a little worn in. Not comfortable at all. When we entered our room it smelt like cigarette smoke. There was ashes in the bathroom and blood stain on the wall behind the bathroom door. And lots of finger prints on the door handles and the light fixtures. I had to wipe everything down n sanitize everything myself.
For NYC these rooms are good size..queen beds...bigger bathroom with ample counter space..rooftop bar with great views
Rooms are big for NYC and I like that.
The restaurant was very noisy on Thursday evening (but it is not the fault of the hotel!)
Loaction very good, 5' walking to Grand Central, 10' to Empire State, 2' to Chrysler Building. Big room despite it's NYC, near many restaurants. People at desk are very very kind.
No WIFI in room (you must pay), only in lobby, the rooms maybe need some refurbishment, there was fittes carpet in the room and it's no very clean.
bed and crisp sheets doorman location
very noisy room very small bathroom old carpet
Location and bedding
Central Location Courteous and helpful Staff Quiet room
Soiled and stained carpets in corridors and room Overall tiredness of the room -needs updating.
room had lots of room, lighting was great, kitchenette was welcome especially the fridge with ice maker, Happy Hour with free wine, roof top bar.
small bathroom with no vanity space, not very sound proof, view of brick wall.
The Hotel was great! The room was spacious and very clean. The staff was amazing and very gracious. Thanks Alex! The Rare view roof top bar was fun and has a great view. Location was perfect and close to tourist attractions and shopping. The Rare restaurant was great and hotel wine happy hour was fun and crowded with hotel residents. Overall we had a blast!
Nothing negative it was all good.
The hotel staff were friendly and attentive and the hotel was a walk away from almost everything we wanted to see while on holidays in New York
Communication between staff and us regarding payment was unclear, not enough information given when taking card information.
Comfortable well furnished rooms. Well located hotel with friendly staff.
Being charged for internet usage, also being charged for using their computer to print out boarding passes. Breakfast not included and expensive at the onsite restaurant. Very dirty/soiled carpet outside the room.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Booked, and we given a nice quiet room. Enjoyed the daily early evening Happy Hour. Centrally located. Grand Central Station, very close with access off Lexington. Walking distance to most attractions.
Small bathroom, not a major, but more room to put personal gear would be good. Carpet in the hallways stained and tired looking.
Clean, great staff, wine hour, comfortable room, nice location.
No free wifi in room, 1/2 shower door, noise on 15th floor from roof lounge, food at restaurant was average
excellent rooms (two double beds), great internet inclusive of rate, etc.
housekeeping failed to change used spoons!! not a great sign - makes me wonder what else they didn't change all the two weeks!
12 minutes walk from the UN and easy access to Times Sq, theaters, tourist attractions, great restaurants nearby.
Lackadaisical attitude to room repairs
the Location and Value for Money
Near central station
I've been staying at the Shelburne for over 20 years. Although it's changed physically, it is still the comfy, home away from home it's always been. You can even pick a specific pillow to your liking. The doormen have been there as long as I've been going and even know my son since he was a baby! The staff are always helpful and polite and the location couldn't be better. As long as I can afford it, I would always return to the Shelburne.
What I found that I didn't like on this last trip was that they changed from having good Aveda products in the bathrooms to having dispenser pumps with products that weren't as good. For the price and quality of the room and hotel, they should stick with good quality products for the guests. Also, I hope the room prices don't go up any higher.
We travel frequently to NYC and have stayed at the Affinia Shelburne a number of times. We have always found the staff friendly and helpful, the rooms are large by NY standards, clean and quiet. There a number of egg on a roll breakfast places nearby and convenient to Grand Central Station. Good value for the price at the Affinia.
One bedroom apartment with terrace was very comfortable and spacious with plenty of packing space and the kitchen a plus
Buying yankee stadium tickets from the concierge was a rip off we where told the tickets face value was 89 Dollars with commission added total 130 dollars When we received the tickets the face value was 30 Dollars When pointing this out we where told that was the way it was and we had already paid so nothing can be done Disgusting
location; kitchenette in the studio suite; quiet, clean rooms; nice bedding
no dining table
This is not a four star hotel. the hotel is looking very shabby, the carpet outside the hallway was putrid. The room had a general look of grim. The bathtub did not drain properly ann when showering one stood in water not draining away. This was mentioned twice. Same response both times "so sorry will see to it" which was obviously the required standard response but not genuine. The staff seemed indifferent.
Fabulous location, within walking distance of many sights. Quite close to two different subway stations. Room was much more spacious than I anticipated. Very comfortable.
