We liked everything, except we needed to stay longer to enjoy more.
It was cold in the upstairs hallway.
Easy beach access
Location, view of the beach and daily sun rise view. Large room for couple. Plenty of space.
Bed was a little too firm for me but good overall. No oven in room. No indoor hot tub.
The rooms are larger than any other hotel - it's properly a 1-bedroom condo, not a hotel room. Two bathrooms (1 full, 1 half) and a separate bedroom can fit more folks comfortably. Kitchenette would let you stay longer comfortably, and more cheaply if you're ambitious - the kitchen is stocked, plates, cups and silverware. The location at the very northern tip of Wrightsville Beach is great. The staff - including housekeeping - was exceptionally friendly. We enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub.
Although this is not a luxury resort, some little things stood improvement. One of the bath towels we used had some yellow gunk crusted on it (which I only realized after drying off); the bath mat was threadbare along one edge and ripping apart. Should have been retired. The water pressure is very high, but there's an efficiency shower head, which in effect gives you the sensation of showering in needles - could use a standard shower head, a pressure regulator, or a faucet that lets you control the flow (not just on/off). The listing on this website is misleading; it says "breakfast is provided". It is not provided unless you provide money - breakfast is AVAILABLE at the hotel restaurant.
Coffee maker to small.
The location was great, at the end of the road so a lot of beach area. The staff was very nice and even allowed us to leave our car in the parking garage past check out time. Keep in mind our visit was off season. The room was clean and really nice with a kitchen and nice seating area. We will be back!
The only thing I would say is the water in the shower was not very hot and after being out at night fishing, a hot shower would have been great but this will not keep us from going again!
This place is just what you need, relaxing by the beach.
Shell Island location is the best at Wrightsville beach. Right on the far point where the sound meets the ocean. The beach front is huge and all rooms are ocean front with balconies. Resort amenities are modern and clean.
All of the suites at Shell island Resort are privately owned and as such, the decor and furniture and decorating is dependent on the owner of the suite you rent. Although comfortable, ours was right out of the 1950's.
Very friendly and wonderful staff Quiet and clean Outside pool and hot tub were open Request for 6 floor room granted Reasonable meal prices
Water temp ok but not very hot..might be a health dept. requirement. Room a little smaller than we expected but was fine.
The room had an amazing view. We walked on the beach to the point and it was incredible! The kitchen was great. Bed, was not the best but it was still a wonderful weekend.
I liked it overall. Very nice location.
Only complaint is that cleaning staff did not wash two dirty dishes in the sink.
Kitchenette with dishes, soap, pans Balcony with ocean view Great indoor pool Free parking
beach chair required rental Hot tub was dirty
Love the size of the room, 2 tv,s in the room and 2 bathrooms we loved.
Furniture was a little old, some cod webs, but was clean.
You listened and couldn't have picked a more perfect room! Give him a raise or promotion! That's customer service! Jennifer Brown was on her knees scrubbing the shower floor by the pool! Treat grounds and housekeepers as well as the top person. If its not clean and maintained no one will venture to the front desk, much less stay there. I love She'll Island! It's my favorite place in NC! Great job!
Whirlpool tub had black mold around the jets so I didn't use it. Coffee pots should be full size! On a two stove burner, they should both work. Refrigerators should be full sized. Need dishwashers.
the ocean view, great
i wanted to stay longer.
The room was very nice with a fantastic view. We used the restaurant, pool and hot tub they were also very nice. The ocean beach, inlet and sound are all available from the property. What a great location!
Location was close enough to restaurants and stores, yet far enough. away from the crowd. Lots of beach area available Updated facilities Staff was helpful and friendly
WiFi was a bit slow.
Well-stocked kitchen with stove, microwave, fridge, and plenty of dishes/utensils. Pull-out couch has memory foam mattress and is very comfortable. Nice to have separate bedroom from living area. The pools are fine, and the beach is wonderful.
The resort is showing it's age, lots of peeling paint, chipped tiles, etc. The bedroom is tiny and completely taken up by the 2 double (not queen) beds. High tax rate and added fees on top of booking price (this is noted, just beware, it's a lot). All in all, a nice enough hotel, but much more expensive than it should be.
Awesome location and view and place to relax. It is a great location but I really feel its way to high for the age of the Hotel
it's dated and cost way to much for the year of the hotel. The hotel needs some updating or PLEASE DROP THE COST.
pillows had a bad odor
All rooms facing the ocean. The fall is a great time to visit as there are few people and lots of views - clean beaches, warm ocean waters.
I especially liked the view from the room, on both the ocean side and the marsh side. I also liked the fact that the beach to the left, facing the ocean, of the hotel, was not developed. Because of the large "window doors," the view of the ocean from the room was fantastic.
My wife, our adult son and I stayed there for three days. The suite was arranged so that most "paths" were single file. If we were all walking around the apartment, we had to stop to let each other pass.
The view from the top floor was great
The water smelled like eggs. Hotel needs updates. New sheets and towels need bought. Restaurant was very pricey and smelt like fried food. Drinks were expensive. We were there for a wedding and the stuff would not put us all together. There were gnats in the rooms. The blinds bare falling down.
location friendliness of staff
bed mattress old one toilet didn't always flush one TV didn't work peeling in ceiling of bathroom above tub elavator broke down one morning room was not ready on arrival as promised
